As AmyAus says then perhaps a lovely gift basket with creams etc and then perhaps hubby could look after baby while she has a soak and pamper session at home. And this way she could have more than one :) I like this idea - a combination of the 2 :) fab thanks You've made me remember the times I longed to be able to even get a decent wash, never mind a bath and then if/when I did have the time I would never have anything nice in for me to use.

I agree Mrsg1. I think that 18-20 normal temp is ok, but 18-20 ac temp is really cold. I know I couldn't sleep with the room at that temp unless I was snuggled under a duvet :)

Hubby said we'll have to leave the AC on for them in the day - surely not?? just leave one room set to 24 degrees - i usually leave the AC on in the kitchen for them How spoilt are yours? Ours get the landing one on at 26 So if we have the heating on 30 at home, I could set the AC to 30 here?? Aargh - can't believe I said "at home". Fed up of saying "in the UK" - may try on "in my home country" for size... I just say 'back in the UK'. Never tried ours at 30, I always find 26 is about the best for long term use.

Has anyone tried this place ?? Really wanting a curry tonight :) Any suggestions for anywhere near to Downtown?? Brit Balti has opened in Barsha run by a British couple from the Midlands If you like the Brit Bangladeshi ones these are yum! Brilliant - authentic Birmingham Balti available right here in Arabia! I guess if they are new they are still adding areas. I would assume they would deliver if you ask? They don't deliver to the Palm either - but tempted to ring up now and order daal and rice for lunch, my favourite... Hey we're used to it. May try and ask them to deliver to the shopping centre at the Springs though ;)

I had rain at about 6 am and then on the way to workd 6.30 am but it wasn't real rain and the cats still went out in it... One of them is "unique" and actually likes to play in the rain :) Ours are used to rain coming from Oooop North and living in a forest. We also have a Bengal who loves sitting in the sink with the tap on :) edited by Geordie expat on 03/04/2014 Ah - GE, so you brought cats with you? We are considering doing the same but not sure how fat fluffy cats will cope here? (Presumably as well as fat fluffy people do - though we have a choice of course!!) They're actually coping better than we thought. Obviously the Bengal loves it, but the other two mogs are ok. They love the winter months and during the summer just go out in the evening and then spend all day laying all over our furniture :)

It rained early this morning at 6 am I must of missed that :-) We had no rain, but apparently it was very windy around 3am. Slept through it and the patio doors were open

mrsb do you have any contact details for a good Dhow Cruise please? Thanks Sorry but I have been away. I always use Mr. Amin, 0507557596, for dhow dinner cruise. He always picks up and drops back which is great. The cruise is on a traditional dhow. The Bateau Dubai is on a raft type boat so hasn't got the ambience that the wooden dhows have. I haven't had visitors for a while so haven't been lately but last went about 6 months ago, it was a lovely evening, and food is good. Thanks I'll give him a call over the weekend

7 hours until the weekend.... was planning on heading to the beach tomorrow to try and get rid of stupid hiking tan lines but alas looks like it will be a weekend of curling up the sofa with a good book Thanks Rain. Too early too early :( and I can't even give you a thumbs down ;)

It WAS home cooked dog food!!!! Though when the Boy aged ten eating Winalot biscuits as a snack, I did start to worry a little. (He still swears they taste great, and he has fantastic teeth!) edited by Livelytrish on 02/04/2014 Was much easier to cook the same for the girls and the dogs :) Mind the eldest one did once eat doggie chocolate drops and she still swears she loves them. They never did her any harm

Oh dear, I would hate to be a new mother today! Have you ladies ever considered that you (or even the previous generation) wouldn't be here if infant nutrition was such a minefield? The only real minefield is the overabundance of studies ............most of which will be contradicted this time next year. Allergies "might" be caused by over or premature exposure, or possibly "maybe" by under exposure or lack thereof. Or perhaps they "might" be hereditary inabilities to process certain enzymes............ In the last few months alone I have read of studies suggesting all of the above. Follow your instincts, not the calendar, babies are not all the same and they don't read studies. If a baby is still hungry in spite of adequate milk, then gradually begin to feed solids.............clean, bland and ideally home made from fresh ingredients. (This may not be the time to confess I fed both my babies with dogfood....................................... the same mince, veg and potatoes I cooked for the pups!!) And please don't believe that you mothers are the first in the world to have raised children, it's not unchartered territory, women have been raising children healthily for millennia....................in previous generations babies may have died from disease, ignorance, famine and bad water, but not from being fed solids too soon! Love this and yes I did the same re the dog food. All I will add is that I VERY rarely gave mine anything out of a jar or tin.

DH and I with just three cats and two dogs in a 2 bed villa, with very little garden would struggle to have change out of 25k If you want to spend less each month then have a look at what you actually spend. When DH and I combined finances before we married, we looked at finances and he was gobbsmacked at how much he spent on unnecessary stuff. For example, he spent something like AED 1200 a month on coffee in Costa by his office! All the small stuff adds up. Nothing wrong with having a coffee or whatever but for someone that is wanting to spend less, it is those things that wind up costing you a lot over the months As I said it was just curiosity. 'Cause when I add our outgoings up it would be a push, and we live very similarly to what we did in the UK.

I was jujst being curious really as we brought the pets with us and knew what the cost would be and I don't find it too bad. I was just wondering as no one ever seems to mentin retirement in their calculations. We dont pay into pensions as we dont see the point for us. We have other things to fall back on later in life, such as properties on other places, inheritance due in the future and both DH and I are working on some other businesses which will hopefully provide further financial security I think with retiredment, it is each to their own, some people save and save, some people pay into pensions and then get taxed on it, some people build property portfolios..... As I say I was just curious as very few people seem to mention their futures when they're talking about living expenses. It is each to their own and what they can afford.

We had a good pension in the UK with lots of top up from the govt from the tax breaks - so we've still got that pot, but now we're just paying out for property investments in the UK. Maybe it's just the mother in me that worries when I hear neighbours and work colleagues saying they've plenty of time to start a pension, once they've lived.

Ooooh try the sea salt lindt dark chocolate..amaaaazing.. And it's dark :D DH loves that, only he would eat the whole bar in one go. I prefer milk or white and I'm getting better at only one square a night :(

GE are you doing the 5 & 2? Sort of. We're two nights a week from 6pm to 10am the following morning. Someone on here suggested that as it was easier :) Then we have one night like tonight when we just have something light. My problem is the square of chocolate I am having every night bar the two starving ones. I seriously can't live without it :( That was me :D... How is it going? Do you find it better. I Do that every day even weekends and I can see a huge difference. I love intermittent fasting. They say min 16 hours of fasting.. We're finding it much easier than fasting during the day. Too many temptations ;) It's going quite well with the two nights fasting and one night low cal dinner. Thanks for your advice :)
