We have what appears to be a number of bachelors, judging by the number of cars parked outside, living in a 2 bed villa. As they are also disturbing the peace of what is normally a quiet family neighborhood I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction to report them. Thanks u need to check as they are allowed in certain areas. Thanks I will check but I would hope that somewhere like JVT wouldn't allow it.

How many of them are there? I think it's the Municipality that enforces the rule about one family per villa. I wonder where they'll live if they are moved out? Perhaps a word with them to quieten down might be best so they can stay until the end of their lease. They currently have 6 cars, mostly large and new, 6 individuals driving and they're on the go 24/7 transporting "bags" etc in and out at all hours. We also occasionally see a woman with a toddler playing in the middle of the street. The reason we all want to be anonymous is because we are not sure if there would be any repercussions.

I don't know where to report them, but have you tried talking to them about the disturbance they cause? Unless the fact that they are sharing is your real issue. The sharing doesn't really bother me, it's the number of cars parked around their villa, the comings and goings at all times and the cheek they give people walking past. They had an open BBQ on their front balcony the other night, which went on all night into the early morning and then they started being nasty to the local gardeners and street sweepers. I honestly wouldn't like to confront them as I dread to think what might happen. I was always under the impression that bachelors in a villa was illegal, especially when we are in a family environment here.

This is going back a couple of years, but I remember a friends boss who got a pretty hefty penalty and black points for speeding (way over the limit), the thing is he was given 3 different options; Pay the fine, pay a lesser fine and have his car impounded for a month, or have his car impounded for 3 months. He was at the time going away for the entire summer, so had his car impounded and left for 3 months! Basically used it as a garage service for his car, which is ridiculous and no deterrent from doing it again whatsoever. I know several people who have done the above! It's for reason's like this that people don't particulary care about how much they rack up in fines. If it impacted on their insurance perhaps they would think again.

I too got my SnS account today with a 50% discount. To the experts, how many days would it take approx. to get stuff delivered here? I am planning to shop mainly from Marks & Spencer. Thank you for the encouragement to Sarahlou, TDB, Sourkittle, TimTam... All very excited. :) usually about 5 working days Or not with Victoria's Secret :( My Amazon order from the States arrived today but still no sign of my VS order, even on the SnS account page. Oh and by the way my DH is going to kill everyone on here who has helped me to get this up and running ;) Hahahaha I am off home in a few weeks and know that Emirates will be getting paid a lot for my overweight luggage! Yes I saw and I also saw you've got a big strong man to pick it up for you at the other end ;) Merry Xmas to me ( Tra la la) haha Great. Hope you have a fab time

I love eating street food when i am travling..... always the best bit about holidays is eating without guilt And the fact that you can always find something you've never had before. My love is finding a place packed with locals, that's always a good sign. It makes you wonder why people travel... Saying that, i was talking to a local friend the other day who only eats McDonalds etc when they travel.... I didn't comprehend that as personally, eating local food is half the fun of traveling... Sounds like my Father in Spain in the 80's Yes Spain in the 80's was full of Spanish food and if I remember correctly, not a McDonalds or fast food chain in sight........ Bliss :) My Dad would seek out a typical British pub for his food! Whereas my Sister and her kids try all local food. How times change I loved taking my eldest DD to Spain then as all she could try was local food and now she's quite happy to eat anything and funnily enough doesn't particularly like McDonalds unless there really isn't anything else

This tastes strange!" It was gorgeous, freshly prepared in front of you meat. I did chance another holiday with her to Santorini. While there, she even asked me to try some things first and tell her what they tasted like. That was our last holiday together.

which ones? The one about the biscuits, the spicy food (but that was just 'cause the restaurants didn't sell 'proper burgers' just lovely local ones) and that was in Austria. And last the sand, this was in Santorini where the sand is black.

I had a sony e-reader and have now got a Kindle Paperwhite which is much better in my opinion, I love it. The good thing about Amazon is there are lots of books available at no cost and another whole load at low cost. I also have an ipad, but don't read books on it at all, its too heavy to hold onto reading in bed and I don't like the backlight (just like reading from a computer) whereas the e-readers are not backlit and look much more like the page of a book. Ereaders are also great for reading outdoors in the sun, Ipad is not. These are also reasons why I bought the Kindle, but it also means DH can use the Note when he's away on business.

I'm expecting my Kindle today :) :) but have been reading using my Note for now. I've never heard of downloading from a library either, but agree with kitten67, it's great to just be bale to buy from Amazon any time of the day or night.

The Jazz Festival is on then I think and Eric Clapton in March too many concerts at one time here! I know we're really showing our age here, going to see all the oldies. Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and now these. We'll need a month off to recover from all the excitement ;)

All I can add to this is that we were contacted by a few of these companies when we came out here 18 months ago. We listened to what they had to say and then decided to do what WE wanted to do. We now have a very good relationship with the person concerned and have also recommended him to a number of friends who have no complaints either. I am very much of the opinion that it depends on the advisor you are lucky or unlucky enough to get in the first place.

TIA That's my home airport, it is all interlinked, so you can't get lost. Everyone leaves the airport from 1 arrivals gate :) Thanks have never flown into Birmingham before. I have a feeling they merged both Terminals into one a couple of years ago. If you look at the new map it says Check-in desks 1 - 82 all other airlines, which includes Emirates. Hope this helps. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 03/12/2013</em>

I am very surprised about anyone in reality post real photos about themselves or what they do or where they hang out, so many people tend to *think* they are celebrities and keep- G+, Twitter FB and the list go on- First it shows me how empty their lives are, Second it shows me how they are looking for compliments from anybody - they know or not - to make them feel good about themselves. I usually do not like or comment on such things, however a friend posted a photo of her new born bundle of joy or got engaged .... more than this, it makes me feel strange about why people do this? what I post on FB is rather than funny stories or funny news, more than this I do not think I should post anything personal about me or my family, IMHO: people who do this should go and live in a glass house, so everybody can be updated about their daily life, posting personal things is so pathetic. gosh I'm really pathetic then !! yet you write chapter and verse about your private life on here..... do you feel it's different because you're relatively anonymous on a forum ? I think you just don't get the whole social network thing and that's ok, lots of people don't but you could maybe be a bit less rude about those of us who do !! the majority of us are just ordinary people, we don't think of ourselves as celebrities, don't need compliments to feel good and don't have empty lives - we just like to keep in touch with people and be aware of what's going on in the world, especially those of us who live a long way from home and are maybe keeping our children away from their grandparents etc.... But it's not for me to say who has the empty life, each to their own... I totally agree. I had never ever thought of using fb until I moved away from my family. Now it's a quick and easy way for the children to see what we're up to, almost instantly and we can see how the grandchildren are. Much mor regularly than using emails especially since the younger generation have been brought up with technology. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 03/12/2013</em>
