My work go through AXA, they have had nothing but hassle with them though. I went to see a physio once and submitted my medical invoices and they paid no problem. A few month later I went back to the physio for 2 sessions (800aed in total) and submitted again to AXA, they rejected due to no referral letter from a doctor. They are just incompetent. I had to fight and argue with them for several months for them to eventually pay me and they only did so as they reimbursed my first one incorrectly. I just wouldn't recommend them! However never had to search for a one myself so couldn't recommend one sorry!

Hi there dont despair !! there is a great Doctor at Dubai Community Health his name is Dr Amer he is amazing and I cannot recommend him enough http://www.dubaicommunityhealthcentre.org/infopages.php?page=16 Birchy do you know of his costs? It's between 4 and 600 - depending on your circumstances - he's not particularly in it for the money and is willing to accommodate cases of people in genuine financial hardship Per session? Can it be put through insurance?! Although AXA are terrible, I will have to get a referral from a doctor to go and see one!

Hi, Has anyone seen the *** and the City full box set of the TV series anywhere on their travels in Dubai? Sales assistants at Waitrose and Virgin told me they were not allowed to sell them here, but I have read online that this isn't actually true and they are not banned from being sold here... I could swear I have seen them somewhere ages ago but cant remember where it was! Any help appreciated!

Hi! Need to take a long haul flight on Thursday night, can anyone recommend sleeping tablets that do not cause drowsiness? Someone told me Adol is good - anyone took this before? isn't the point of sleeping tablets that they cause drowsiness? am I missing something?? Obviously I meant once I wake up I don't want to feel drowsy...

Anyone seen OXO cubes? Over the weekend I went to the following supermarkets to try and find Bisto in the red tub Al Maya Choitrhams ( 2 branches) Park and Shop ( 2 branches) C4 Geant Lulu They are nowhere to be found and I also checked in the non muslim sections Oxos were nowhere to be seen either, except the veggie ones in the green box I did ask all the staff/managers only to be met with a blank stare Perhaps there is an ingredient in them that stops them from now being sold here I stocked up on Oxo cubes from home and will do the same with Bisto at Xmas They sell Bisto in Spinnys! I buy it. They have the red tub and also a tub that is red & blue with less salt... None in Mercato and on Umm Al Sheif Spinneys None on shelves at all :-( Spinnys in Motor City... if you cant be bothered to go there at least you know for future if you run out of your UK stock :)

A taxi driver told me they do it with the bonnet up. People think they are fixing the engine when in fact they're sprinkling over the engine. True story. ? Vile!! I suppose they have anti-bacterial in their glove compartment do they?! Do they heck!!! Disgusting sorry I feel so strongly about this!! When I get my change handed back to me I will never be able to get this out my head!!! sorry to be crude but how many men wash their hands thoroughly anyway ? Never eat open bar snacks !! lol I'd prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt though as most men will use normal toilet facilities... However in these situations where you know there is nowhere to wash your hands... Other than to wipe drops onto your trousers is plain disgusting!! Never ever touch the nuts they give you in bars either... Ever! That's what I meant !! That's what I meant... That I never touch the nuts... I missed the 'I' out! Whoops!

This morning I was woken early by a noise coming from the construction project behind our back house wall. (Arabian Ranches). I went out onto the balcony to see what it was (which I couldn't) and instead saw a man walk right up to our wall, pull up his top and undo his trousers. After a minute he walked away, fastening his trousers up again. Of the 3(?) possible options, I am choosing to think he was urinating! Since the construction started, they have dropped waste food, plastic containers, water bottles, paper, piles of dead palm leaves and other garden waste. We have been plagued with birds, the garden is full of droppings and we have noticed more rat boxes around than usual. We have emailed Emaar Customer Care (a joke) a few times asking for something to be done but they do not respond. To now add human waste to the list is seriously going too far and we need to ensure some action is taken. Two questions - Is urinating in public allowed here or is it prohibited by law? Can anyone please advise who/where we should approach to ensure something is done about the rubbish? Many thanks. edited by Sue R on 31/10/2014 I have to say I am so surprised to see your post get 14 thumbs down!! My reaction would be exactly the same as you and I find it disgusting that he has used your back wall to do that. If Emaar haven't enough portacabins for them that is not your fault nor your concern! I once saw a taxi driver urinating near some bushes and found it disgusting... How could he not use a mall toilet?! What happens if little girls were to see them doing what they're doing?! As for the rubbish I would be just as angry! I would contact Emaar one last time threatening them that you will report it to the Municipality and see if you get a response... If not... Go to the Municipality! Hope you get sorted! Cue the thumbs down... ;) haha!!!

Agree with previous posts - the fact is if you want to lose weight you have to start eating. Starving your body will go against everything you want to achieve. Low carbs, high protein, try and keep your fruits to low in sugar and substitute your carbs with wholegrain options, i.e. wholegrain bread, pasta, wraps, brown rice etc. Dont eat processed cereals, substitute with porridge (add a little honey if you find that helps the taste), alternatively eggs (poached, boiled) or make an omlette and throw all your veggies in with it :) Try and work out 3-4 times a week doing a mixture of cardio and weight training - ask the PT's at the gym if you are unsure on how to use anything they will be happy to assist I am sure :) Oh and also - cut out the alcohol ;) I trained and ate a balanced diet and stopped the alcohol for 6 weeks back in July for my sisters wedding and lost 17lb! The dress was tight fitting ha! It can be done... good luck :)

Haha my guess is probably 70% of people on this forum haven't a clue what Eastenders is or who any of the people are you mentioned ;) True !! lol - but I saw another story with 8 down thumbs...just wonder why when there isn't anything on this thread to have an opinion about, one way or the other.... 1. a mother thought it was perfectly fine to block the exit to my building to drop her precious children to school, her grace showed up 5 mins later acting like she did nothing wrong 2. the driver double parked blocking 2 perfect parkings infront of my DDs nursery because his madam wants to be dropped right infront of the entrance to avoid walking a lot. when i signalled him to move he signalled me to go away. perfect. 3. the entrance to the petrol station is wide enough to have two lanes, common sense says the right lane is for the queue to the petrol, the left lane is to go to the market or to fill air, but no someone decided to jump the queue and stay on the left lane because he is so much more important than all the others waiting, causing a huge queue behind him on the street, when i honked and everybody else behind me honked he didn't budge or feel ashamed to at least let us through to do whatever we came to do. i had a flat tyre and just needed to fill air, but nope he didn't move because of his stupid pride. came 1 hour late to work meaning i have to spend an extra hour at work tonight, meaning i might not see my DD. AWESOME have you gone through a rough morning? edited by Singarosa on 28/10/2014 I wouldn't call this a "rough" morning - I would say the things you just mentioned about 85% of us encounter on a daily basis! All in all, a pretty average day in Dubai!

Speaking of rude, who gave me a thumbs down? I stated facts, actual happenings. What don't you like? I don't understand the thumbs up, thumbs down. We're all grown, if you do not like the post you can simply click add reply and state your reasons. Thanks in advance for the thumbs down this post will probably receive :) I really don't understand people pressing the thumbs down button either when it makes no sense to... I have put up a separate post about my landlady and asked for help/opinions of people in if I should write a letter to her etc... and someone has pressed the thumbs down??! Very odd! If we all express our opinions to things and those that don't agree - yes go thumbs down happy thats acceptable - but when its stating facts its really a weird thing to do! The only person I could think of that would have "down thumbed" me in my other post would be my landlady reading it haha - and I doubt very much it is her as her English is poor and she only knows the words "Leave my property get out now go go go!" :) That's quite funny!! Some posters do it, purely because they don't like other posters - they act like children. It's a bit pathetic. Just ignore it. Doesn't mean anything anyway. Well that can be the only reason - it is really pathetic! "These" people obviously just don't like Geordies I guess! How dare they!!! ;) But on a serious note I couldn't give a monkeys I just find it odd!

Its disgusting this story! I agree people with disabilities are hidden away as if they bring shame to the family in this country. Its so wrong. Not that this matters or is even the main point of the story, but did the club refund him his 300 aed I wonder... I bet they didn't!! They did, but that's not the point. Oh yes so they did - I just re-read it and missed that part originally... but I also did say that that wasn't the point. I merely mentioned the money part as a way of blackening Cavalli's name further.

I would reply to her saying that you accept her eviction notice, BUT, if you discover she has re-rented the property, you WILL be filing a case against her with the rent committee. In which case she could end up having to turf the new tenants out and re-renting to you at the old price. Also she could end up paying you a years rent as compensation and banned from renting for two years. Make this all absolutely clear. Yeah I think I will write a reply letter to her FairyDust explaining just that - however another thing I have heard is, if we take her to court for re-renting it out, the judge is likely to order the landlady to allow us to move back in for 1 year free rent - but in our case, this will be irrelevant to us as we will have already moved out and signed a 1 year lease with a new landlord so we wont be able to just move back in... The reason this is even more of a pain in the neck is we were hoping to stay there as it is quite cheap and were going to be saving a huge chunk of our salaries hopefully giving us the option of buying if we decide to in 2016! So frustrating!

How do you know it can be served mid contract? I can get security to keep an eye yeah. We have tried to negotiate but she only come down by 5,000 AED and its simply still too high. Also, its the principle of the matter I think. She lives in Deira and was shouting at me over the phone saying her rent has increased so why shouldnt mine! Saying how can she pay hers... shes a crazy b***h! Shouting telling me to get out of the property now to just leave now! Totally unacceptable.

I like the look of that Prime 68 I must say - think that may be an option for future :) I like to try the brunches that are unusual and unheard of and finding a little gem! ;) I love VIDA Downtown at the moment - 395 aed and you help yourself to a picnic basket filling it with BOTTLES of wine and food and you can use the pool too!

I don't know if I am just being thick (probably!) but when you click the button at the button 'Watch replies to this thread', how do you get notified of the replies and where is this? I click this a lot but don't get notified of when the thread gets a reply?! I have to keep refreshing the menu page to check this... Sorry if this is so obvious - I am blonde ;) You have to click the "threads I am following" and they will be displayed (if they haven't been deleted, which happens to most of the ones I follow !! lol) Ahhhh what a genius you are Doubting Thomas haha! Would never have known that! In that case, that button is in a very silly place, it should be at the front where all of the topics are listed! Or... is it?! :)

yes GeordieBird true assessment! Still,I don't see any benefit in judging people's possible rudeness as, one, it is subjective and cant be proved; two, if I think so-and-so has been rude then it does nothing for my health: my mind will be troubled, I might get a bit down, my blood pressure might rise, and my stress levels might follow my blood pressure up a notch or two. So there are no emotional or physical health benefits in assessing people's rudeness. I think this comes down to 2 camps of people; them who will not tolerate rudeness of any kind and say something to the person and them who find it perfectly easy to ignore and not react. There is no right or wrong way - but you have to understand that there are people who can simply not let these rude people get away with doing as they want... and I am one of these people! In my upbringing it is rude and ignorant and I will say something 9 times out of 10! I do not think I am judging someones rudeness as I will only ever say something if I know 100% they mean to be rude. I do however agree with the bit about the health, sometimes I wish I wasn't one of the people that rudeness bothered so much as it can put me in a bit of a bad mood depending on the severity of the incident! But I am and doubt that will ever change - not while I live here anyway ;)

By the way before I sign off and do something else with my life today, please know that I dont mean to be rude to anyone!! If I was then I am sorry! I dont think you have been rude one bit in any of your messages, you are telling us how you think about these things and that is fine. However, I think you may be too nice a person ha ;) Do your family and friends ever tell you your too nice?! Not a bad thing but maybe a bit naive to some "rude" situations like this...
