Hi, I've been a HomeGrown mum for over 2yrs now and love it! I visited a number of nurseries during my search but as soon as I stepped into HomeGrown, I knew it was the right one for my children. The calm welcoming vibe drew me in straight away and I loved walking into the classrooms and seeing the large variety of wooden toys and libraries available. The staff are lovely and very professional. The head teacher and founders are so approachable and always available to chat with. In fact, at least one of them is in the foyer every morning greeting the children and parents by name. Weather permitting, they spend as much time outside as possible. The children are heavily involved in the planting and maintenance of the garden (both indoor and outdoor) and they love bringing home their freshly picked vegetables. The Eco friendly aspect allows both the children and parents to learn more about the environment and be more conscious of topics such as waste, recycling and general healthy living. The communication between the nursery and parents is excellent, we are encouraged to participate in the topics and there are many events throughout the year which the families love to participate in. In regards to learning Arabic/French, the alphabet and numbers, it's absolutely a bonus to learn them in nursery as it sets them up for an easy transition into school. And learning them in a fun way makes it even better. We are an English speaking family but I love nothing more than hearing my 2 little ones singing and counting in French and Arabic! It's adorable! I know you have a hard decision to make but I'm sure you will make the right one for your little one. HG must be doing something right if they are opening a second nursery to accomodate their lengthy waiting lists! Good Luck!

Hi! I'm so sorry that I don't have time for a detailed response but you are correct regarding bubs getting citizenship by means of descent. We used the Baby Steps company to help with birth certificates and passport. There website is www.babystepsdubai.com http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applying/how_to_apply/born_overseas/ https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/Newppt/applyingU18.aspx Good Luck!

LOL! Whoops! I didn't but it would appear that my 3yr old did whilst I was off getting her lunch! Haha, in that case your 3yr old could probably teach your friends nanny/maid all she needs to know ? You may be on to something!

Yes. I ordered a trampoline and they called the next day to arrange a delivery time that day. They set it up very quickly and correctly. Just make sure you get your receipt emailed to you. This didn't happen on one of my transactions and Carrefour didn't have a record of it on their computer but they had taken the money from my account. I gave them the reference number from the bank and my money was returned promptly.

Hi AusJor! Have you registered your interest in employment on the Emirates Group Careers centre? If you set up a profile, you will receive notifications if a job opportunity arises that you have registered interest in. Here is the link just in case you havent: https://www.emiratesgroupcareers.com/english/Default.aspx The inaugural flight (publicity) to Adelaide was in September so they would have already employed and trained the staff well before then. Of course, they will always be looking for new staff, especially if they increase the number of flights. If nothing comes up before you relocate, try popping into the office at the airport and dropping off a CV there. Im not sure if its allowed or even if you could gain access to it without an airside pass, but it may be an option. Good Luck!

Welcome SSgirl! And thank you! Libra1610, did you get the ones I described? If so, do they have a name on them? I looked online and found a pair called Jodie Leggings which i think might be it. They were super comfy but made my backside look a little more Kardashian than I would have liked! Not that it takes much though! Diet starts..............one day!

Thanks for the heads up! Just grabbed a couple of pairs. Somersetgirl, I went to MOE this AM. Head straight towards the back on the 1st floor and they are on a display there (near Wallis and John Rocha brands). There are fitting rooms in the corner to your left (next to the shoes) and others back towards the front. Don't go if you're in a hurry as its chaos!!! I was there yesterday also and waited in line for 20mins before leaving as only one person had come out. I love a bargain too but I would never take 30 items in at one time and only take one for purchase and leave the rest on the floor for the poor assistants to pick up (as witnessed yesterday). So disrespectful! If you do go in, could you do me a massive favor and let me know what the name of the black leggings are (if they have one) or the style code please??? I didn't get them but am kicking myself now and want the name or code in case I don't get back in time to get them. The leggings I tried were plain black (not a jeans style) and quite thick. Thank You and good luck!

Yeah the ER can be hit and miss but that's completely separate to the maternity ward. We've been at the outpatients clinic having the LO checked and the paediatrician had to run across to the other building for an emergency c-section! She was only gone for 10mins - impressive!!! Mnadir, if you have any other questions, let me know. I'd be happy to help!

I've been in quite a few taxis which have done this continual soft breaking. At first I thought it was poor driving, but when it was many I started to wonder if the speed up/soft break technique was effecting the meter in some way, as it was so many doing the exact same thing. hum...think you may be on to something there AA! Yes... hadn't thought of that! You might be onto something there I thought exactly the same thing AA! I drives me nuts! I'm afraid one day I will throw up because of it! I always get the pink taxis from the airport as I need the space (2 kids, luggage and occasionally the hubby!) and I don't mind them at all. The drivers are strong little ladies and always insist on loading the bags while I sort out the kids and there's always another driver running over to help. Their driving skills are similar to those who drive the normal taxis but the cabs are always clean and smell nice - BONUS!!!

Hi mnadir! I delivered my DD at American in March and it was great. Dr Ghada was my OB too and she was amazing. I almost died giving birth to my 1st baby in Oz so I was extremely scared and concerned about my 2nd delivery. Dr Ghada was very professional and put me at ease straight away. She is very direct and straight to the point but also has a sense of humour. She will always give you options and her opinion but gives you time to discuss it with your DH and won't pressure you to go one way or the other (natural or c-section) unless it is medically necessary. Her office staff are fantastic and very caring. In regards to American hospital, the labour ward is fantastic. The staff are friendly, positive, very caring and very organized. The maternity ward is a little less personal and the food is awful!!! Luckily you can order in and there is a fridge in your room. Is this your first baby?

We got our DSs passport done here via the Oz consulate and is was very quick. We used Baby Steps (www.babystepsdubai.com) to obtain the birth certificates (Arabic and English copies). They have a 3 day turnaround on this otherwise for an extra 100dhs they will do it in 24hrs. They pick up and deliver from your home. Once you know the return date, just make an appointment at the consulate and take your application in. Make sure you have EVERYTHING with you (including witness signatures as they wont witness it for you - we ended up getting a random fellow Aussie guy to sign for us!!!) otherwise they will send you away. We got the passport within a week and then we were able to send the passport in to HQ for the residence visa which takes a little longer but you'll be fine by December. Good Luck!

You can build your own salad too in case you want to skip any ingredients not advised for pregnant women. They deliver as well in case it's too far from your office. Would love a review if you try it!

My DD attends HomeGrown and I totally agree with Vonvon, it is a wonderful establishment. My DD has truly benefited from being there and the staff are wonderful. Being a new nursery, I can see that some may be apprehensive but if you read other threads it can be seen that more established nurseries are not exempt from issues. Cost wise, it's certainly neither the cheapest or the most expensive, however knowing that part of the fees goes towards a charity house and sponsoring needy families takes the sting out of it a little. I would definitely keep your options open if your a keen to put your child in somewhere next term but if you are really keen on HG, perhaps call and see how many are on the wait list for the class you want. All currents students were required to confirm and secure their places for 2012/13 by yesterday so they will begin offering places to waitlisted children in the coming weeks. Good Luck with your search - it certainly can be stressful and emotional.

Sorry to go offtrack a little but before you commit to any deals, keep in mind that it will be monsoon season so you may need to find accommodation with indoor kid facilities so your toddler doesn't go crazy! The upside is prices will be very low! I love Thailand at anytime of the year but now that I also have a toddler and newborn, we have to be careful. If I hear of any good places, I'll let you know. Are you just wanting to stay in Koh Samui?

I'm surprised the doctors didn't stock her up with supplies from the pharmacy before she left. I had some serious damage after delivering my DD in Oz and they gave me Proctosedyl cream for the haemorroids and Senna Col (a laxative and stool softener combined). The cream works wonders and the Senna Col makes life a little easier! Whenever she can, do as advised below and take salty baths. It was also quite refreshing to 'air the bits out'! Tell her to throw on a skirt/dress (no underwear) and lie on the couch with her feet up! Hope she feels better soon - i feel her pain!

Check out Royal Carribean Cruises. We did a 7 day Med cruise on Mariner of the Seas last year in July with friends. Absolutely loved it even with a 1yr and my friend and I in our first trimesters suffering hideous morning sickness! We were already talking about our next cruise before our transport to the airport had picked us up from the dock!!!

I recently delivered at American Hospital and they are all for delivering in your preferred position. There beds have bar attachments that go across the bed so you can squat and lean over them. If you go there for a tour, they can show you.

A lot of places won't touch you until you are well into the second trimester. One reason being that the risk of miscarriage is quite high and they simply don't want to potentially trigger this by hitting a vulnerable spot on your body. There are various areas on your body (a spot just above your ankle for example) which must be avoided (best to google the topic). If your doctor says its OK then make sure you see someone certified to perform pregnancy massage. Another reason for delaying massage til later on is to do with your core body temperature. Massage stimulates blood flow, warming the body, and in addition to the warm temp of the room, you can find yourself overheating very quickly and this is not good either. In both of my pregnancies, I fainted a total of 3 times from overheating whilst in beauty treatments. In all 3 I was in my 3rd trimester and lying on my back (although elevated) but even with the Aircon on full and minimal clothing and sheets on, I still overheated. One was during a facial and the other 2 were during bikini waxes - mortifying!!! Nothing more glamorous than a 39wk pregnant woman with no pants on fainting and almost falling off the table into the arms of the tiny beauty therapist!!! Thankfully I didn't fall or vomit on her and she kindly cooled me down with cold towels and rubbed my back until I recovered. Bless her! If you can hold off until you are into your 2nd trimester, I would suggest that. Feet First at Dubai Mall was a favorite place for a friend of mine. There is one lady there who can do pregnancy massage and when they believe it is safe, their reflexology is apparently amazing!

My OB was Dr Ghada Khalil from Medlink Clinic and she delivers at American Hospital. I cannot fault Dr Ghada. She is very professional, appointments always run on time and she listens to your concerns and gives honest straight to the point answers. After a very difficult first labour in Oz, I needed someone who wouldnt sugar coat things for me. She gave me options and developed a birthing plan for me which worked perfectly. As for American Hospital, the facilities are excellent and the midwives are amazing (and hilarious!). The only thing I could really fault them on is the food - its awful! Hubby ended up bringing me 3 meals a day and I took in heaps of snacks when I was admitted. They have a mini fridge in your room which is handy. All the best with your pregnancy and good luck deciding on Drs and hospitals.

They are real and fresh. This site is very popular (especially with flighties in Oz) so their stock turnover would be high. I order from them every couple of months and have never had a problem.
