I'm sick of buying the plastic ones out of those packs you get wth the plastic tiara and fairy wand, they break after a couple of days. I remember seeing some somewhere but cant think for the life of me where I saw them. Just for them to play with at home, but at least they wont fall to pieces and generated disappointment and tantrums!!

for whites, if after washing, stain still isn't out. Put out in the sun to dry, for a good few hours!!! I have the same problem with my DS and white polo shirts for school, and this works every time.:) I like dr beckhams spray on stain remover, i also add vanish to the washing powder in the machine. I'm prone to dabbing a bit of neat bleach on stains too before bunging them in the machine, although this does pose some risk. Never hand polyester shirts of lingerie in the sun, the sun is what makes them turn grey

I've ordered some cosmetics from italy through a frien who runs a beauty clinic and she sent them o me via TNT. I got an email saying im required to produce my passport and residence visa before i can collect them. When i called to ask why, they said it was because the value amount declared by the sender was over $270. Is this normal to have to produce these documents on collection?

Ginee, someone offering to help is not going to judge your apartment. It's a difficult choice when you're feeling bad, but letting someone in to mind the wee ones and let you get to the doctors may be the lesser of two evils Thanks emur. My husband just called, he works in abu dhabi and said he can pick it up for me at 6pm, but im trying to find out if theyre open till then.they cant give me a straight answer at the moment

Ginnee, you may just have to deal with it and go on your own, rather than trying to find someone you trust to take a ride...call a taxi, go early to get it over and done with, you'll be back by lunch. It is very clear from your posts that you are having a rough time so I sincerely hope you are getting the help and support you need. Yeah it looks like i may have to get a taxi

Try assist.ae or 800GETME They will collect and bring to you for about dhs30, it will work out cheaper and easier than the taxi and metro. Di, do u mean this as a delivery service? Problem is i have to be there in person to get he insurance forms signed

I'm sorry to hear you and your little ones aren't feeling well. The BRAT diet is good for diarrhoea, Banana, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. Potatoes should also be ok, I always give my children some plain yogurt when they have a stomach upset. Oh and plenty of fluids. I'm at home looking after one of my children who spent all day in hospital yesterday due to a viral infection, my DH suffers from depression so I can understand how hard it must be for you. I hope you all feel better soon. edited by TillyK on 24/09/2012 sorry tilly k to hear about your child being sick too :(. And your DH, it must also be hard from your side being the loved one of a sufferer of depression. The applesauce thing is confusing to me as most bought ones are full of sugar and they say to keep away from sugar, even fructose can upset a diarrhoetic stromach

Hi Guinee, have you seen Dr. Amer Saad? I am also looking for a psychiatrist and would like to undergo some CBT sessions. I would really appreciate if you give me a feedback regarding him and any other doctor that you might have found. Tks! Yes I've been to him and so glad I did. He's gentle, patient and very knowledgable about medication. I havnt had cbt with him but have had one session with melanie schlatter, a kiwi who is sooo lovely. I'm overseas right now so intend on continuing with her when I get back. Try dr amer, I think he's great.

Alright, I'm about to share with you the secret to ridding yourself of constipation. I am an expert in the field unfortunately because for almost a decade I was on pain medication, the most common side effect of which was severe constipation. First get yourself MICROLAX. It's a tube of gel, buy a few tubes. You insert one tube and squeeze the whole amount - sorry for being graphic, and then go lie down for a minimum of half an hour. This really should get things moving. You may have the urge to go alot sooner but try to hold on and wait the half an hour. Im not sure of what surgery you've had. If you have stitches 'down there' or a wound, I would, after having the bowel movement (it can get messy (sorry again for too much info!) get yourself some 'cyteal', which in an antiseptic vaginal wash which you dilute in water. Put the correct dilution into a spray bottle and spray the 'region' after you go to the toilet, then rinse with the hose. I say this because after the explosive BM the Microlax facilitated, it must have splashed onto my wound down there and I ended up with an infection. so be careful. (you could also use a dilution of betadine - it's a good antiseptic and doesnt sting). Microlax is good when you've been constipated for days and days and nothing you ingest will move it. After this, if consitpation is going to be an ongoing problem (maybe you're on meds or just feel you need softer BM's), you should go onto a regime of Fybogel (which is exactly the same as Metamucil), magnesium powder and citric acid. The fibogel provides fibre but you need to drink lots of water with it. The magnesium is a natural stool softener and the citric acid (you can buy powder or squeeze half a lemon and drink the juice - maybe mix it in the water with the fybogel) activates the magnesium. This regime really helped me keep 'regular' - before that I was lucky to have one BM a week, it was horrible and scary at times. Also try to stay away from bread and rice, eat lots of veggies and fruit. Hope you get some relief soon, I realllllllllllly know what you're going through. Report back and let us know!

I was a regular bedwetter till the age of 13. Tried everything suggested here, finally found a urologis who said he would examine my bladder with a camera using a catheter under a general anaethsetic. Found nothing wrong, except my bladder was notably small. So he stretched it, not sure how, maybe inlflated it with air or something. I never had another incident. Maybe you could try this if you've tried everything else. It has an horrific effect on the self esteem.

If it was me I would just get normal household security cameras and be open about it rather than find myself scuttling around monitoring in secret. Let the maid know that the house is monitored. It protects you from accusations of indecency etc too. Obviously you can't put them in private areas like the bathroom/bedroom but you can have the doors covered by the camera and tell the maid that she isn't allowed to take the baby into those rooms while you're not in the house unless the door is left open (or whatever you decide) Yes we are planning on doing something similar, when we do eventually get a maid - tell her the cameras are there for her protection as well, so that if something happens in the home that is not her fault there is proof.

To explain why in a little more detail, it is due to the nature of the relationship. Maids do not call within the ambit of the labour law as you do not have an employee/employer relationship, it is a contractual based private relationship. A private relationship of this nature can only exist when her husband is not here to be responsible for her in the nature you must be as her sponsor. Agencies get around this to supply live out maids as they ARE employees, thus covered by LL. thanks amyaus, that's really helpful info

It's illegal for a maid to work for you when she's on her husbands visa. If you are employing her she must be under your sponsorship. If she's not you both risk a big fine followed by deportation for her. ahhh thanks for that info. will tell hubby to check with immigration (just so he can say he found out himself ;) )

My first boy is named Adam, which is a muslim name but at the same time christian (as I am). Also, easy to pronounce in english (LH) and spanish (me). I'm looking for the same characteristics - multi culture, multi language - but it's been hard to find. I love Samuel, David, (I heard Daniel is also muslim), and Aidan. Just want to get more ideas as my LH is giving me a hard time. i always bake mine, in their skins, about 1 hour in a medium-hot oven. the sugar in them kind of caramelises and the flavour is stronger. then peel when cooled. delicious. you can make a lovely beetroot dip by processing them with tahini, a splash of vinegar, garlic, salt and yoghurt

Thanks Ginnee. Lol...not sure you'd admire me if you saw the state of my house!! Something's gotta give and there's no affordable maid service here. :D I'm still nervous about the slow cooker. I can get my head around eating food with the nuked bacteria in it, but no amount of heating will get rid of any toxins that have built up. I need to read a lot more about slow cookers before investing in one. Yes I know how you feel, I have no maid service either and feel terribly inadequate with the state of my house too!! Wise to do research on the slow cooker thing. My grandmother swears by it though and did it all her life as a working mother. good ole grandma :)

first of all Green-ish, I take my hat off to you for being a working, single mum. I really admire you. This new challenge must be annoying, but im sure you will get there, lots of support here on EW :) Slow cookers are great, to eliminate the risk of bacteria, all you do is hike up the temp when you're almost ready to eat to a boiling point for a few minutes and this should kill any bacteria.

I bought the samsung 2 when the 3 first came out, at a much reducded price of 1800dhs, now it's only 1000DHS. I love my phone. I'm not sure how many more features the 3 has in it, but mine has enough to keep me very happy and like others have said, I'll probably never get around to use them all. do research on what the new features are and if you dont think youll need them, get the samsung 2. I absolutely love mine.
