Easy peasy. The food court in MOE was open when I was there yesterday. So get your kids McDs and get yourself some yummy baja fresh (or whatever that mexican place is on the corner - it was open for sure) to take home. You can send your kids to Peekaboo to have a play even - 50 dh the first hour, 20 dh per hour after that; second twin is free. ooooh i didnt know peekaboo was 20dhs per hour after the first. but alas they are under 4 and i dont have a maid to leave with them, you have to be with them If they are under 3.5 you need a nanny ... otherwise, no. Besides, if I were you, I'd bring my kids, my favorite magazine or book, sit in the corner and read while they play. The nannies there will entertain them and you can relax. In fact, that is precisely what I did with my twins yesterday ... really? 3.5? Mine are 4 in sept. I may do it, you know!!!!!! you have twins? how old are yours? and it's realllllly only 20dhs for the two after the first hour????? seems too good to be true!!

What about this one from TimeOut Ginnee (not sure about the shisha mind you) This Moroccan-style Iftar takes place in Mövenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate’s huge Al Bahou venue, which has been artfully recreated to resemble a bustling Marrakech souk. Dhs150. 6.30pm-8.30pm. The Gardens (04 444 5613). ETA: Details here http://www.dubainightplanner.com/NewsDetails.aspx?NID=117&t=Iftar-at-Moevenpick-Hotel-Ibn-Battuta-Gate Hope you have great time wherever you go, you deserve it :) edited by Alismum on 23/07/2012 thanks alismum :) any other suggestions anyone? shisha is not imperative at this point, just something v nice!

Imho, the following recipe is the best ive ever tasted. 5 verrry large plain croissants, torn into pieces, sprinkled with pistachio nuts and blanched chopped almonds, a small handful of raisins and placed into an ovenproof dish. In a pot heat 3 cups milk, 1 cup cream and 1 small tin sweetened condensed milk. When hot, add 1/3 cup rose water. Then pour over croissants. Put into a hot oven till golden on top. TO DIE FOR :)

Wow, nice to know im not the only one with this feeling and bleach smell! Im interested to hear more about the yoga and relaxation techniques I suffer from anxiety. But its a weird manifestation. I dont neccessarily feel anxious or panicked about anyhing. But it is triggered by my girls, who cause me alot of stress. I feel a heavy weight on my chest, a tightness, and also a 'smell' in my chest like bleach. It has reduced since i changed anti depressants and i take lexotanil (a very low dose) when its really badand it goes away. But i would really like to be rid of it once and for all as it does impact on my personal life :( Your not on your own mine is also caused by stress, its exactly the same heavy weight on my chest, tightness and bleach smell or sometimes a burning smell. And then I begin to panic even though its happened so many times I still wonder what is happening to me and very quickly loose my breathe. Trying to reduce mine by doing yoga, and other relaxation methods. Trying to get enough sleep and focus on my breathing. But even when im trying to drift of to sleep at night sometimes its happens as things are going through my mind. That books sounds great, I will be having a look for it.

CBT is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Google it. It's about looking into your thought processes and addressing eronious ways of thinking which impact on your mood. I have a book called "feeling good, the new mood therapy" by david burns. It changed my life, literally. I still have problems with depression but it is much improved once i learned to recognise wrong though patterns that were adding to and enhancing my low moods. I highly recommend it. what is CBT? I would like to know more abt it...someone has suggested hypnotherapy as well....but not sure who to go to and I dont think it changed much for my sis

Didn't see any Starbars this morning in Park and Shop and did a quick look as had read your post earlier this morning......plenty of chocolates all over the shop though on special offer shelves which expires later in July or mid August as checked..... all buy one get one free or marked half price......Clubs, Poppets, Walnut whips, Double Deckers, Toffee Crisps, Tootie Fruties, Aeros.......etc....... Double Decker fan too myself, but sadly or stupidly, didn't get any for myself. Won't help with the Starbars search but maybe someone else's cravings for the weekend.:)

I recently bought myself a little singer from c4. It was 4 hundred and something dirhams and because of my C4 frequent use card I got a 50dhs voucher. It's a simple machine, but it does the job well, I prefer simple, not over-complicated.

its at Dubai World Trade Centre at their exhibition halls. The walk there itself is longgg... going with the kids in the metro would be difficult esp. in this heat - best bet is taxi although there are parking areas but a bit far Thanks. I think there is stop at world tc, but do u mean its better to get a taxi to the ex hall by taxi? Having never been there i have no clue!

When you exit the terminal into the mall, you will make a right hand turn. You will be on the second floor. Go to the Debenam's intersection (for lack of better word), and take an escalator up to the third floor. Turn right off the escalator, and M&S is right there. Hope this helps, and I believe it is correct even though I have yet to ride the Metro. Thank u norak!

Activity ideas: http://www.shabbybeachnest.com/101-idea-im-bored-jar/ http://www.imperfecthomemaking.com/search/label/family There are lots of recipes online for homemade finger paint if you want to do some painting. Simplify life with kids: http://www.imperfecthomemaking.com/2012/03/99-ways-to-simplify-life-with-kids.html There have been some threads on here about indoor summer activities, couldn't find them on initial search, but things like indoor picnics, making tents from sheets, treasure hunt etc. Good luck! Thanks gailmcphail, I'm finding i neeeed to get out of the house as even doing activities at home gets tedious. i just find being with them 24/7 to be very stressful in my current state of mind :(. I will look into these links though, thanks for your helpful suggestion

Will be a pity if its deleted. Jlt has a lot going on these days - any family activities, kiddies groups etc? Actually there is a very long JLT thread here on EW if you search for it, and they may mention what is available in your area. Marina Mall is doing daily shows at 4-5pm withSponge Bob Squarepants which looks a lot of fun and you can chill out in Starbucks. Very best to you xx Thanks hilsbils, will look into the marina mall thing, and the jlt thread.

Ginnee, I am in Jum Islands, so close to you. I have a 9 and 4 year old (boys) and will be back and forth during the summer. maybe we could either meet here or elsewhere, if you're comfortable with that and share the pleasures and misery of long summer hols for a couple of hours. As a fellow sufferer of depression, I understand totally how you're feeling. Have a think and let me know. bet this gets deleted! Thanks Kathyt. would love to get together :) email me on [email protected]

Thanks hilsbils. Not sure what to ask for actually!! I just feel I cant cope with these two, indoors, for the next two months. I need fellow mothers nearby to socialise with, I live in JLT. Someone I know has lent the the CD's, thank God. I've heard super granny helps you to deal with children calmly, yet effectively, and this is what I need. I'm also having counselling, but it's early days.

If you're trying to prevent odour, get some chlorophyl tablets. Chlorophyl is a natural mineral that cleans the blood. I started taking it as a teenager as I had real problems with BO, despite using deodorants, and showering more than once a day. It realllllly works, takes a couple of weeks to kick in, but it really works. I dont need it these days,, must have been teenage hormones. but it's also healthy and good for you.

cat-lover, the ladies have given you great advice, I agree that it's hard at your age, and guys at that age are just ***-mad!! it impairs their ability to think rationally!! You, on the otherhand have a good head on your shoulders. dont ever do something you dont feel like doing. He is the one losing, not you!! I still would really recommend the book I mentioned before (Feeling Good, the New Mood Therapy, By David D Burns), I'm more than happy to lend it to you and even can point you to the chapters that specifically helped me (as I went through the same feelings as you). Let me know if you want to borrow it. Take care a chin up!! You are the winner here!!
