You could try making his lunch a little more interesting and fun, I don't mean on what you give him but how it's presented. Lakeland do some great sandwich cutters in different shapes which could make them fun to eat, also maybe let him get involved in helping make dinner, give him a little job and he might want to eat what he puts on his plate. The main thing is for you not to worry though, I remember when one of mine went through the same phase, they soon start eating when they're hungry enough. :) what/where is lakeland? been looking for affordable cookie cutters for ages

Check out Mahssa at Al Borj medical center in Mazaya (opposite Burj Al Arab). I've had hormonal problems and my skin was awful, break outs all over my chin & forehead areas + reall dull complexion. She's a qualified esthetician and skin specialist and did wonders with me. Pricing varies upon the treatment you choose obviousl, facials are around 300 / 350 Aed. Do you know if she does chemical peels for pigmentation?

My problem with jeans is my waist is small(ish) and my thighs in particular (and bum to a lesser extent), are about 2 sizes bigger. Anything that fits my thighs, I end up with the waist rediculously large on me and vice versa. Anyone seen jeans with big legs in them?

Dont worry Sarah!! I was there when the Mum arrived and the maid told her, she didn't react angrily, and didn't seem upset. I think she just figured that happens when babies get together!!

urgh i so agree! i have a fifteen month old, and i don't drive so i'm on the metro a lot, me, the kid, and the pram. people are so inconsiderate! they'll push and shove me out of the way just to get in or out, they'll run to the lift to get in when they are perfectly capable of walking the ten steps to the escalators! that really p***es the cr@p out of me! the sad thing is though, i used to be such a nice person about these things, it wouldn't matter to me if someone cut infront of me or if someone wanted to go before me, but here it just seems like the whole world is in a mad race, and EVERYONE'S out to get you (or infront of you rather). i've stooped down to their level though, i push and shove on the metro, and i push and shove for the lift. i think i deserve the break! aaand it doesnt help that i'm short. like 4'11 . so i'm often looked over at a counter queue. which just pushes my bp over the limit! i mean seriously people, have a little consideration! Well I beat you in the short department!! I'm about 4'10"!! And i get the same thing, it really hacks me off when people crowd to get into the elevator at the metro when they have the choice of the escalator, I dont have a choice with my twin stroller, so I just push and shove to get in first. I never used to be like that!!

A friend's husband had a headache for a month, after doing some research she found out it could be related to a Magnesium deficiency, (he had MRI's etc, nothing came up). So he went on a dose of Magnesium and it was gone within a couple of days. i think a lack of Magnesium results in muscle spasms and he must have had one in his neck which caused the headache.

Another Q'lander here and Gold Coast girl too Ginnee. I know when I miss home I usually go and get some tim tams or mint slices..drown my sorrows in chocolate. Take heart, it does get better, it just takes time. You will meet some amazing people in Dubai and here on the forum. Just hang in there :) that is just too funny because my nickname is Little One!!

BTW my pigmentation is hideous, it is two big marks on my forehead, about 2 inches square each and are almost as dark as a freckle. I have to use special make-up to cover it up and cant go outside my front door without it! :-( ETA: It's because of pregnancy - after two years it's gotten much worse. Should have covered up with Sunscreen and a hat, but didn't know :-( edited by Ginnee on 29/01/2011

Yeah, I had an Aesthetician from Milan advise me (her husband is a colleague of my husband's) that a chemical peel is better for pigmentation than laser. Laser has not been proven effective for this and can make it worse.

The movie is fabulous, but the book is much, much better. Scarlett is one of the most complex yet believable characters in fiction. she is the epitomy of complex - a man could never live with her me thinks!!

[color=#000099'> As for your DD and what she's eating, try cooking "naughty" - cook with butter and cream, toss the veggies in butter (I like butter) and use full-fat yoghurt and milk. Lamb is also very good. [/color'> Actually, I have twin girls and one of them is very small. they are 2yrs 4 months and she is only about 10kg's. She's really active and Im sure burns alot off, but is a fussy eater. I've started sneaking 35% cream into her bottle at night!! Hope she'll pack on some weight with a bit of help!!

BMP: I'll see your Merlo and raise you a Grinders - best ever! But since you can't get that freshly roasted here, I like Raw. They will even deliver the beans to your door, apparently. They are at the garden centre on SZR and I'm pretty sure the beans are roasted here + they are organic. Ginnee - do you just add some freshly ground coffee & cardamom to cold water and put it on the stove or is there a special technique?? In lebanon you can buy it ground with cardamon, but I guess you could mix your regular coffee with cardamon powder and get the same effect. I boil a jug of water, then add it to my coffee pot, for a full cup of coffee you want 3 heaped teaspoons (the lebanese like it strong and they measure it one heaped teaspoon to one of those little expresso cups, so I guess one normal cup would be equal to 3 expresso cups). I measure out the water, add my coffee on top and put it on the stove. It will froth up so you'll have to keep taking it off the heat, then put it on again till it stops frothing, when it stops it's done. The egyptians like it with a little froth so it depends on personal taste. The Emirati's have a slightly different technique, they add the coffee to cold water and proceed that way, but for me it takes too long!! You can also add sugar to your pot before you add the coffee if you have yours with sugar.

I have a maid. She doesn't clean, cook, shop, or do laundry. She comes in 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. She has one specific chore and that is to hold my crown on my head while I'm on the internet. It used to fit perfectly but over time it seems to have gotten smaller. ;) Love it!!

LOL, But really just how many lipsticks a year do women buy? I only maybe buy 2 a year at the most so it's quite negligible in the big scheme of money. yes that's true. my sister in law however buys liptick all the time, albeit not chanel!!

Afternoon, DD of 3 yrs still drinks milk and if am lucky she will have coco pops in the morning..Most of the time she refuses cereal or bit of cheese on toast ... drives me nuts and I feel like a bad mother sending her DD to nursery and not ate nothing but drinks milk only! Every morning is a struggle to get her to eat advice plzzzzz :( Give up! You cant win- not all of the time anyway. Remove the food from the battlefield or you will both develop eating disorders! If you have a Bolshie one- just be firm- plan the menu- put the food down and walk away and let the little wild thing eat or wear it- whatever. I promise they wont let themselves starve. You can starve as far as they care- but they wont - or not for long anyway.. [color=#0000FF'>Ok, so my problem is that my girls refuse what I give them and then starve to the point of whinging for milk, nothing else will do, it must be milk or juice!! What do I do in that case, do i let them cry and carry on and refuse them milk? They get so distraut too if I dont give it to them!![/color'> Keep a diary of what you give- and how much went in and what routinely is used to paint the floor-so you can figure out genuine dislikes and attempt to calorie count [color=#0000FF'>This is good advice, will try it![/color'>

Every morning is a struggle to get her to eat advice plzzzzz :( Im long past that stage- but had 4 close in age and mealtimes were often disatrous.(I eat way too quickly now still- a remnant of having to deal with 4 picky, messy eaters while managing to keep my own weight up) Its a horrible age- the learning to control Mum with refusing food and dressing oneself and basically being a self absorbed tyrant- whilst having a glimmer of understanding of what its doing to your parent.(see the mummy pull hair out and dump breakfast option 2 down sink- nice slushy mess mmm must put hand in it... what do I want to eat now? I want...I want...a banana! No- an orange-check no oranges available first- maybe a yoghurt- but only the chocolate one- what no chocolate- then youre a baaad mummy and if I cry- its your fault. How long do I have to stay in kitchen?- Im bored. I want tv and ,,, and,,, MILK and... rice crippys in it and..WHHHAAT!!!- that was the last of the milk she just turfed? NO way! I got the worst deal in Moms ever!! waaaah.) . Laughed so much at this as this is our household everyday, only I have two to deal with not four (feeling for you!!)

Am not alone, I see phew I guess its a phase. Ladies, will take on some of your breakfast ideas (if I can drag myself out of bed) Thanks, my mind at peace now thought I was starving my DD! Yeah I thought I was the only one!! I struggle daily to feed my girls. They both prefer milk and juice over eating, it drives me mad and I get so frustrated!

Also, make sure that you instruct your 8 month old that for the passport photo he is to keep his head straight, not slanted up or down, not to the left or to the right and his mouth must be shut!! The Aussies are very fussy about passport photos, it drove me batty!
