Of all the Spinneys I have been to I have to say the big one in Umm Suqeim 3 is the most expensive. Especially with meats. I noticed the big markups immediately. Dahling, the people in Umm Suqeim can afford it and have more pressing matters than the price of their groceries.

I have just discovered Marian Keyes (very late) and I am in love with her books. They all tackle deep issues but in an easy sort of way. I like her more than Kinsella because the heroines are not as stupid.

Thank you for your replies everyone. M_K I am a terrible cook so I will go for the store bought Harissa as I am sure I will somehow ruin it if I try to make it. I will probably ruin the recipe even with the store bought one.

Irooni what do you think of Farsi? I liked it there but I am not Iranian so maybe to my tastebuds it was nice but to a native it will not be authentic. Would like to know your thoughts thank you

Nothing at all Fulla? We have talked through some scenarios and we are stuck because 1- I think dating is illegal so she will get in trouble if she admits this? 2- There is no proof. But maybe I can be a witness? He borrowed 60,000 dirhams.

I am terrible at telling stories when writing but I will try! It was when I lived in New York. My friend arranged for me to meet a man named John at a bar and we had not even exchanged pictures or spoken on the phone. She told me he was tall and would wear a blue tie so I went and the first tall man wearing a blue tie I saw was a very old man (I was early 20s and he was in his 50s). I asked him if he was John and he said yes so I sat down. He was terrible and kept staring at my breasts and did not say much and I rambled away about everything just to stop myself from bursting into tears because he was so awful then he tried to grope me so I pushed him away and ran off and called my friend and yelled at her for setting me up with this pervert. When I finished yelling she told me John called her and told her that I stood him up. :s oops. The real John was a lot better and we dated for one year :)

I never read this book when it was a blog but I bought it last week because it was a bestseller and everyone was talking about it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was not a very serious book more like a chick lit book but it also dealt with serious issues but in a light hearted way. I do not want to give away my copy :) Maybe check the facebook site for more comments?

The Program is as shown below and starts at 4:30pm from Clusters O to Z around the Lakes!! Where's the program? Are stands available for food or craft vendors? I believe stands are available for food but only for JLT retailers

I believe hypoxi therapy may be what you are looking for based on recommendations here on this forum. I have not tried it myself but heard it is very good for cellulute problems.

I have been there for something else but did not like them. They are very Russian and sometimes cannot explain procedures properly in English. Also the therapist didn't have good skin which made me feel uncomfortable as surely they use their own products and machines? I do not trust hairdressers with bad hair, skin therapists with bad skin or dentists with bad teeth!

We are in Lake shore and it is a lovely building indeed, well maintained and spacious apartments. This is why we didn't go for Marina also, as 2 bed apartments there were all so tiny! Have you checked Dubizzle, there are usually quit a few lake shore adds around, the service elevators is used for moving in and out almost daily so you never know. The one thing I do not like about JLT is they keep coming up with new rules to extract more money from landlords/tenants, last year it was the chiller charges all of a sudden, with charge backs since you moved in... crazy. This year it is parking fee's, it seems like from Dec or Jan we need to pay 2000 for 1 car or 5000 for 2 cars if we want an access card to our own clusters parking... this is insane too as the apartment came with a basement parking in the tower.... no one is sure when it will take effect, but they are installing gates everywhere so I guess it won't be long. Anyway, if I see any movement here, I'll check it out and let you know! good luck I have two friends in Lakeshore and they are very happy. They both have the same layout one bedroom and it is very spacious. One of my friends has the better one because she has the floor to ceiling windows (there are two options) and the view is very beautiful over Emriates Hills. The kitchen is very tiny however but my friend has put up shelves in the storage room and keeps a lot of kitchen things in there.

As recommended by one of my work colleagues, I have now found an estate agent who seems to be pretty switched on and actually listens to what I would like. He is suggesting Concorde Tower. Are there any pros and cons regarding this tower? Eventually, hopefully, I will find an apartment... Perhaps this will not bother you but Concorde Tower has slanted walls. It is not extremely obvious but the wall with the window in it in the lounge area is not straight from right to left, but it is slanted so any fitted furniture or wall to wall furniture will look odd. Does that make sense? Sorry I could not explain it clearly.

I understand your point but from the examples you have given us it seems that you are blowing things out of proportion. He visits his family once a week for lunch and twice a week for 2 hours and you think this is a big deal? I personally like a man to respect and honor his family. You said his parents are " wonderful. " If they were abusing you and he was not standing up for you then that is one matter. But MILs will be MILs and a few comments about your Arabic is just petty, you should let it go with a smile and be the better person. If she did something truly bad then that is something else. You do however need to speak to your husband about how you want things to be done - i.e. a clearer routine and " family time " but do not make it about his family or his parents.

There are two different aspects in this - one, if you are a paying customer of a business, and two, related to friends or family. The OP had booked a maid from a service to come in and she had taken the time off work to be there for the maid. A few others have mentioned appointments which they were paying for and had either changes or cancellations that they weren't told about. For a business to do this to customers without any phonecall or notice is completely inexcusable and unacceptable. We, as paying customers should speak up and tell them that they won't stay in business if they treat customers like this. As for family and friends, we could write a whole book on that. :-p Hear hear :D

OMG Grace! They missed your wedding! Dibdab I feel your pain. They should have informed you earlier. I had guests a few weeks ago who came 2.5 hours late. 2.5 hours! I had rushed home from a prior engagement just to get home on time to bake a cake, make 4 different snacks and tidy up the apartment only to sit twiddling my thumbs for 2.5 hours while everything became cold.

I use Right Maids, 04-3329001. I have a lovely lady called Jacqui that comes every Saturday afternoon. They are AED 35 per hour but there is a minimum of 4 hours. Sometimes she is half an hour late but that is due to the route the bus takes and they know I don't mind as I still get my 4 hours of work. I feel for the cleaner though as she has a very long day. I have been looking for a decent maid so thought I would try my luck with Right Maids. We arranged for the maid to come this morning at 8:00 AM - I even took the morning off work. They called yesterday to confirm so I was happy that they were being professional. Until now. Waited over one hour for the maid, she is still not here. Now they called me 1 hour late saying that the maid is sick and she cannot come and that someone will come in the afternoon. After I took the morning off!!!! I can't wait around the whole day for this. I asked her why they did not inform me earlier and she said it is because she just got to the office now. I am seething!

Thank you for your responses. Teabag I actually want the genuine ones as I am hoping they will last longer than two weeks. Marie D on the Uggs website it says they do not deliver to PO Boxes which is why I didn't consider Shop and Ship. Which website did you use if you do not mind me asking?

I have not tried TGI in Dubai yet I suppose I wrongly assumed it to be the same as the US & UK. I will have to try Texas Roadhouse. Thank you for the tip :) Yes we were gutted when we tried it. It's much cheaper here which is reflected in the food. Roadhouse is so good you do need to give it a go and save TGI for when you visit home!;) OH an I went to Texas Roadhouse on Friday and it was fabulous :) The ribs melted in my mouth the steak was juicy and the portions were very generous. The wait was very long (approximately 45 minutes) but the service was fantastic. Now if they would just serve Tennessee sauce I would be in heaven.
