Another Aveda fan here! I actually just asked my hairdresser a few days back if these products were available in Dubai. I can't remember the exact name of the product but I am addicted to their spray that is used to treat hair before blowdrying/straightening. Am waiting for my next trip home to stock up!

I had mine done at Dubai London Clinic Festival City..AED1700! I stuck to mine for 6 weeks but then detoured due to travelling etc and its very hard to follow as just about everything I ate was cut out (dairy, carbs etc). I deffinitely had more energy though when I was following it and felt so much better, also lost a few kg very easily and felt much better for it. Am slowly getting back onto it now.

We are a company in DIFC but its up to my boss how long we have off - I doubt it would be the whole week unfortunately! me too..and my boss decided following Central Bank:( Hope EID falls Tues and not Wednes so will have 3 days:) We have always followed DIFC up until this holiday but 9 day weekend is apparently too long:-/

My friend and I have been living there for 3 months now and so far happy with it. We have a 2 bed and its very spacious. The finishes are cr*p though no doubts about that! Apartments are fitted with LG appliances (dishwasher - never used it, stove, washer/dryer) and all high-tech intercom, camera's etc. The management have been ok to deal with and the no agent fee's was a bonus. We haven’t met too many people in the building yet as it seems pretty quiet though management keep saying all apartments are nearly taken. The gym is open now but rather small. You can get nearly any food delivered there, taxi's are getting better at finding the building also. The location is very central, Dubai Mall only a couple mins away. Our monthly DEWA bills so far are around AED600-650 which was a little surprising as we turn everything off. Not sure if this is the norm as I was living in a villa before and never saw the bills. EDIT - just double checked and our last bill was close to AED900 and now its down to aed640. We started turning the a/c off sometimes this last month so maybe that made a little difference... On rent negotiations - we pay AED80k with 4 chqs. Am pretty sure this was the advertised price and they didn’t budge. the only thing negotiable was the number of chqs. Hope this helps and hope to see some more people in the building soon:) edited by Goldilocks on 29/07/2011

My ex's maid will be back on 16 June but that is still so far away:( She is going to be heart broken as this dog was like her baby and he went missing a couple weeks after she left for her annual vacation. Her friend was looking after him and the home (i had already moved out) The search continues:(

Thank you SueB. Have been calling Municipality but still no luck. I am going there again tomorrow at lunch time to check myself. Have maids in the area handing out flyers and asking around as I no longer live there (he is my ex fiance's dog). I really hope someone has taken him in and looking after him and not seen the flyer yet. Will continue the search. Add on Dubizzle also but have not received one call:(

In rare and maybe lucky cases it is possible..I'm 27 and moved fresh to Dubai 3 yrs ago, but then again my life also revolves around work most of the time! I guess you get as much as you want to put into it:) I did have prior PA experience but most companies here used the 'you don't have Middle East experience' card when I was looking!

I work as an EA at a multinational company, sadly salaries are still slightly determined by race/western educated etc in some cases. Salary ranges that I have seen are anywhere from 17-28k /month..which is not only western educated. The higher end of the scale does command a high level of comittment to the job. Best of luck:)

Another Q ladies... Does anyone have roman roller blinds with a sheer/lace material underneath? Thinking I could have cream blockout roman blind in the room and when I want light during the day (but not the construction view outside) can put them up and have the sheer drapes/curtains in place..

It is super easy to find, I have given directions to some people delivering things and all have found very easy. I love it as we are very close to the exit off Al Khail so no need to be driving around the business bay area endlessly. I actually moved myself so can't help with that sorry :( I was moving out of a villa with only my room and small household items so 6 or 7 car loads later and I was done. We have a 2bed plus maids (will be used for storage/laundry room) on the 11th (my girl friend and I) and so far I am happy. Hope tonight is less eventful too:D

Gilly3... Will be nice to have some more people in U-Bora :D Ok so far I have only stayed 2 nights. First night my master bathroom flooded, called maintenance and they came within 20 mins and fixed. They have the most AMAZING rain showers so the flooding was a small price to pay lol. Last night (my 2nd night) I forgot to lock my door as it has all this hightech system with keyless entry etc..the maintence were checking things in the halls around midnight and for some strange reason tried to open my door and succeeded. Can imagine my fear, being alone in the apartment. The gentlemen apologised and showed me how to lock up the door properly. The finishings on the apartment are definitley on the rough side. I am taking pics of every area today so at the end of my lease they don't try and charge for for the repairs. Things like: small crack in bathroom tile, small hole in bathroom wall at of the tub, fixtures not properly secured in kitchen, crack in back of wardrobe. Make sure you do the same as otherwise when the lease is up it would be very easy for them to say you had caused the damage. The pool is now open however they are supposed to be moving their office to the front of the building and the gym will be going where the current office is. I am going to ask again about this as I am looking forward to being able to use the gym. Apart from the above, so far so good. The prices are very reasonable and the parking facilities great so overall I am a happy U-Bora resident. Which level are you going to be on? I am on 11th:)

I don't have children yet but regardless of all else you must go. I went through a very similar siutation last year, my father (52 yrs old and VERY healthy, never been sick) was diagnosed with malanoma. I immediatley went home and was surprised to see him in good spirits still despite knowing the seriousness of the illness. 6 weeks later it had spead through the body to his bones and I was lucky to make it back home again 18 hrs before to say my good byes. Time will never wait and although the sight will haunt me for the rest of my life I could not have lived with myself if I wasn't able to be there. I wish you the very best and sending thoughts your way during this time. Your family will always support you and be there when you come back.

I love my is300 (2008 model, brought new). Have not had any faults with it, only have to service and have tinted windows. Tyres I just replaced at 50,000 km (factory lasted till then). Highly reccommend this vehicle. I get mine serviced every 10,00 klm now as they use a different oil (think synthetic) rather than every 5000 klm. Good luck:)

SD - I really do appreciate all your efforts and actually feel guilty about this but nonetheless must share for fellow EW's benefit :) So I asked my work driver to take my car up to RAK tomorrow and gave him these details (work quiet for him atm). So anyways, an hour later he comes back to me and has found a place in Karama which does the same Birdgestone tyres for total of AED2800 fitted and balanced. We head of there this afternoon and have the tyres changed save myself a small fortune and now tomorrow he can have the day off as he doesnt need to go to RAK for me LOL! The gentlemen did give a good price as he thought my driver was the one paying (isn't it always the way lol) however he let me have them for the price regardless. If case anyone else is interested these are the details: Khoyool Al Nasr Tyres Repairing Al Kuwait Street Kifaf Building Ph. 04 3375208 Mobile 0508751919 Cheers :)

I'm surprised to see the reviews on Dr. Tahir but then i guess no two surgery's are the same so it's hard to know what to expect and kind of scary really. I have only heard good things and myself underwent implants with him last October and couldn't have been happier with the whole procedure and end results. Best of luck with your decision, never an easy choice and I find even harder when is this country. Hope you find the right doctor for you:)

Thank you :):) I just called them, hope he understood everything I was saying lol..confirmed the priceing is for the 2010 Bridgestone so looks like its a trip to RAK tomorrow. The onyl thing he doesnt do is wheel alignment but there is another shop that can do it for 200 or I know many places in Dubai also do it so should not be difficult, still saves a small fortune. they only accept cash so will ask my work driver if he can take it up tomorrow! Thanks again:)

Wow that is quite a saving and can't thank you enough SD. I have had to get a major service plus brakes this week alone so did not want to pay huge prices on tyres also. I am willing to take the car to RAK for sure. Just to confirm, the tyres are 2010 production date at least and also not re-treads? Do you have a number for the shop and name and I will book in:) I might be stretching it here but do you think if someone else took my car with my credit card they would allow him to pay for it?? Thanks a million.

RAK, but DH has been to Sharjah for Jeep tyres and got a better deal than he would have done in Dubai, as fairycake mentioned. What's the brand and spec for the tyres? I can get a price and you can decide whether it's worth the drive. Thanks so much SD:) The tyres I have from Lexus are Bridgestone, 245 45r17 95w for Rear and 225 45r17 90w for the Front..
