I don't think Mr. R would make good president. It seems he is all about developing further financial and political elite in the country.Does not believe in distributing the opportunities for all.Only for some. If one was careful and watched over the time, there are quite a few speeches held by GOP members where it was clearly indicated they need a president "who will sign things" they need...that's all. I personally do not trust politicians as it is(who would), but Romney especially, as his programs and ideas are not finished work, or he is not willing to give details out...so no one knows what is ahead. Man who sent American jobs overseas, who arrogantly disses half of the population, is not a man who understands the office of a American president, or doesn't care(even worse). And especially politician and politicians who did nothing but actively divided the nation in last 4 years, either trough inaction or deliberately. Not to mention propaganda, lies and misinforming the public. That is not to say the other side didin't have thier dark days too. However, it does speak volumes, how one ex president is working his bum off, to help current president, and the last one is currently in Caymans participating in alternative financing forum or something, nowhere to be seen. And this is from distance, of course, it will be interesting to watch tonight. <em>edited by Goose on 06/11/2012</em>

There have been a number of recent changes regarding immigration /permanent residency and work permits. Your best bet would be to contact a immigration broker/attorney. Sorry can't recommend one,but hopefully someone on EW can. If person has the time on thier hand, everything is on the Canadian Goverment website.Otherwise proff.help. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp :)

Vote for fruit and veg market. They had tons of pumpkins last year, got five or six diffrent shape and size ones, for something like 60 dirhams....carved them all out. Kg was something like 2-3-4 dirhams. Do not expect "prefect" shaped pumkins like the ones in Spinneys.

Also, if you are interested in finding carpenter or having yourself do it as a family project, I personally like this lady and her web site: http://ana-white.com/plancatalog Lots of pottery barn copy projects for a fraction of what PB is charging. And many other plans and options, as other ppl are submitting their versions of furniture based on the plans she gave out. U would be surprised(if not shocked) furniture that gets copied and price tags. I'm looking to make farm table she has in her plans and some other bits and bobs..

but on the other hand, why continue giving milk of any kind, if there have been adverse effects after consuming milk, without consulting with the professional?

No, don't have any adverse affects from drinking milk here in UAE nor anyone in the family(had one of the kids born here), in fact never heard anyone ever complain about having problems with milk here..not saying there are not any. As it's dairy, mb it wouldn't be bad idea to take him to the doctors, to see is there something more to this. It's not unheard of of ppl living for years having dairy intolerance, only to find it out later in life. btw. Almarai is a Saudi company, and probably have best practises and technology, on par with best EU or north American companies, in the Middle East. wouldn't know much about other brands, but I'm partial to Al Ain dairy products, and Nada sour cream... edited to add: camel milk could be cheaper solution and it has it's own benefits. <em>edited by Goose on 14/09/2012</em>

I feel the same Daza, that is one of the reasons we don't use pest control at all...my DH refuses to even consider..so we deal in our own way...I also use tea tree oil for mattreses ..and the pif paf method...we make sure that when we spray, to leave the house for couple hours/half a day.. <em>edited by Goose on 12/09/2012</em>

If they can't or won't tell you what they are using as pesticide/insecticide, they come in with unidentifiable containers or even worse liquids ready to spray in the spray/pump container, they can not provide licence from municipality...I would stay away from those pest control companies or tell them to go away. Whilst living in ranches, we had maintenance guys knock on doors, as they were spraying common areas, they asked if we would like them to spray inside the garden... I asked does he know what is being used...he didn't.Thank you but no . Depending where you guys are from, yon can check lists of approved pesticides/insecticides and active ingredients in your home country, and use that as benchmark...most harming pesticides/insecticides have been long banned in North America and EU...also call or go to Dubai Municipality for approved pesticides and active ingredients. They have their own pest control section. <em>edited by Goose on 12/09/2012</em>

See, that is exactly what I said to my DH :)&gt;- those green areas between villas seem perfect, as one doesn't have to worry about cars or traffic on them.Where we live now, there are paths..but right next to the Rd.and ppl drive really fast at times it scares living daylight out of me... Do maintenance guys know what they are doing or is it usual palaver of few trips back and forth till it's fixed? Will they come out to for small works like putting curtain rod and such?Or should I just make honey do list :D Thank you SD. I owe you at least coffee and cake!

Thank you for the heads up Blackops! It looks as rents are being "upgraded" recently...so town homes are going from 85 k onwards...still can't figure out how much for second row standard villa? Are there any school aged kids around?Have 9 y DD and 4 y old DS.I assume most kids attend RAKESS?!Not much option I suppose. As for utility bills, ours are much higher here in Dubai comparing to your numbers, and thank you for that piece of info... What maintenance company you all use? TIA

The road the runs almost parallel to the Outer Rd. is where Bab AL Shams is on...if u continue on the road it will come perpendicular on to the road that is next to the square formation u see on the map...it is some sort of Gahf /nature reservation...road continues next to it for quite a long way and gets out on the Emirates rd. idk if this makes sense...

It was in September 2008, the quake...it was in the afternoon... Wow-you've got a good memory-could only remember it was the afternoon and I was on EW! I was pregnant as well, and miserable in the summer heath...laying on the sofa and thinking I'm going insane things are moving around me...till DH called saying he was out of the tower in the media city and the alarms went off...it was pretty big deal for him, he never been through the earthquake before...so it kinda stuck with me...

Maybe - the ones that hit Dubai were all related to the big ones in Iran (whilst the east coast ones were something seperate) I don't think they have had one on the fault line in Iran that affects Dubai for a while, so maybe they think one may be due. ETA - in answer to MF edited by Genie on 19/06/2012 the last quake was in the south of Iran....it was felt pretty well over here...

No big deal just curious as to whether its correct English to say a person is barging when taking a barge in the same context as you would say a person is cruising on a cruiser, boating on a boat or biking on a bike for example. After all we don't say we are planing when we take a plane or training when we take a train. Simple query that's all and wondered if we had any linguists among us. To all who found this boring-apologies and please carry on [b'>computering[/b'> :D funny :)

I have a question about the Summer Surprises ... My DH and I are expecting and we were waiting on the Summer Surprises sale to pick up gear for the baby, would you guys advise against it, since they mark up the prices for the "sales"? What I would do is jot down the prices of the items I would purchase now and then when the sale starts look if they've reduced it or increased it. agree..if I have my heart set on certain clothing item, I usually do the above mentioned...otherwise American home ware and furniture chain shops usually have decent sale..PB and CB..PB recently reduced some bedding items...and prices were correct, as in reduction was real :) Last year I got some beautiful glasses and pitcher set in PB for a fraction of the original price.

in the end, one end of the fencing was opened and thus a MASSIVE rush and push to get to it. It was very dangerous and extremely poorly organised. I said to my friend at one point they could have another Hillsbrough disaster on there hands here. It was actually quite frightening. My friends and I all got separated in the stampeed. [b'>It's some of the little kids[/b'> I was concerned for getting trampled on. And of course, after waiting for so long in the heat, we witnessed several 'altercations' :\:

I have recently "discovered" Clear Zinc from Solar Sense...in C4..on the bottom shelf, it was in the isle where shower gels are and the rest of the sunblock brands.. It is SPF 50 with uva1, uva 2, uvb, it lists zinc oxide as active ingredient among others...8%.. edited to add..it does contain retinyl palmitate..however it is Paraben free...which is why I picked it... <em>edited by Goose on 27/05/2012</em>
