We just took taxis to an event I booked in Al Maha and they were 150 each from The Palm. Al Maha and Bab Al Shams are about the same distance.

Make an appointment for 8am, fly to London, head to passport office in Victoria, hand over documents, hop on tube to Green Park, head to Fortnum's for breakfast, back on tube to Victoria, collect passport and back to LHR. Fly back to Dubai with new passport after a couple of hours. Sounds crazy, but having just done this, its quicker and less stressful than dealing with this send everything to Dusseldorf nonsense.

Have had this happen four times here, had nothing but excellent service from mashreq to sort it out. Another story with my UK issued Amex charge card, it was cloned and used to buy a new car in Brussels, whilst I was in Paris. The cloned amount was over £12k, imagine the shock when that bill came in!

Jumeriah Carpentry - Mr. Aslam, do a search on here, I have posted his number before. They have done several jobs for me on antique pieces. Very happy with their craftsmanship.

Beware the bandits. I heard they are out in force again. Much safer to use the MMI or A and E in RAK

I haven't forgotten that they have so little, they have an awful lot of my old stuff in their rooms! I'd give them more, but their rooms are already full to overflowing!!! Perhaps a shipping allowance is in order? That's exactly what we do, business class 40kg with Emirtaes and at least twice a year, sometimes more. So much of our caste offs help so many in Sri Lanka.

I done in tin Edinburgh when the Edinburgh festival was on and it was fab! Didn't even feel like you were up in the sky! Had an amazing breakfast, got to watch a top chef do some fancy cooking and had stunning views of Edinburgh castle! Would recommend it! Not sure what the dubai one would be like though. :) We also did this at the Edinburgh Festival this year, we had lunch and booked the table well in advance so we were there with our group of friends. It was great fun, excellent artisan food. We will give it a go here as well!

I am very happy with them and use them often. I think they are reasonable and very convenient, much eaier than trekking to Satwa

Guys, I have to tell you about the experience I just had with the Mashreq ATM in Mirdif by WestZone supermarket. It is not giving money, but giving receipts saying that money has been sucessfully dispensed. I spoke to the guy in he shop and he said that this happens every other day. When I called Mashreq, who were as useless as I remember them being when I was unfortunate enough to be a customer of theirs, he said that I had to lodge a complaint with my bank which mean I have to go into a branch and fill out paperwork. The chap at Mashreq also implied that I may never see my money again. This sounded very much like it is a reglar occurance and maybe they are not servicing their ATM deliberately so that when people don't get their money, they give up on it as it is such a hassle to get it back! Together with the fact that I had been told that this machine is regularly broken, makes me wonder if this is the only way that Mashreq can make money right now? And i thought things were getting better. Needless to say I am not going to let them win and i will be going to my bank today to get the form, fill it in, attach a copy of the receipt and wait until the matter is investigated. I would recommend that people avoid Mashreq ATM machines until this problerm is fixed. " Mashreq bank continuing to provide abysmal service across the UAE." edited by Miss Piggy on 29/01/2011 edited by Miss Piggy on 29/01/2011 Good luck with getting your money back. I would like to say though, I have been a customer of Mashreq for years, and haven't had any problems with their customer service.

Just drive down the main streets of Satwa and you will see many glaziers. They will cut the glass to size whilst you wait.
