She could also reach out to local newspapers or media for paid internships to get into a position, then move forward from there?

One of my very good girlfriend's is going on her hen do this weekend on holiday, and I wasn't able to go due to flight costs from here to there... We're of course going to the wedding in August, but somethings things like this just niggle in my chest because I feel like I'm missing out on so much... Sometimes I think if living abroad is worth it when I feel like this and see things I'm missing online and when friends talk about them

You'll find it really difficult as you need copies of your Emirates ID and residency visa to secure all utilities here... The EID generally comes quicker than your passport, so it could be enough to provide your EID first, and then inform then your visa is in the process?

Hello I have several things running round my head that I'd like to know about. I'm not in Abu Dhabi yet, I will follow my husband there in 4 months from the UK. So, anyway, my questions, if anyone can help I'll really appreciate it. 1. Can you get sky sports TV out there? Either an app or via satellite? 2. We have seen loads of property's for rent in Hydra Village, what are they like? 3. Do you hang washing out to dry or use tumble dryers? How does it work? 4. Are the mosques really loud or can you have a lie in if you want? 5. My 5 month old son has a cleft palate and once surgery is done in September in the UK, he will need speech therapy, has any one had experience of this over there? It won't be for a while yet obviously! So really my question is, what's the health care like? 6. Which area should we NOT live in? 7. Which is the best British curriculum schools? 8. I'm into all things crafty, is there places I can buy sewing bits etc? Thank you in advance. I thought it would be easier to ask all questions at once! I hope you can help me with any of the above or all! Thanks x I can help with number 3! You definitely won't need a tumble dryer. The A/C inside or the temperatures outside are adequate enough.

Went to London with my husband. It was our first time in London, we had two large, heavy suitcases and a large duffel bag as well. We ended up taking the public transit to our hotel, but we got lost and ended up getting off at the wrong bus stop. We didn't have any money so with a total of 4 suitcases and 2 duffel bags, we had to lug our way on foot back to our hotel, and to add to our first day in London, it was also cold and pouring! A nightmare, but needless to say, we still had an amazing time and loved our vacation in London! Cold and pouring... Haha, welcome to London! My holiday nightmare was as a young teenager actually, when my little brother decided to jump on my face in the pool while I had big snorkelling goggles on. Cue deep cut and huge black eye! I still have the scar...

Thankyou, I'll have a look on Facebook for info. Haim my original post was titled ' random questions in my head ' thank you for asking. Don't worry about it, they're silly questions anyway. Lol They can't be that silly if you've come on here to ask! like I said, give it a go. But if you ask whether you can cover up, or if you can hold hands, then... Don't! Ha!

What questions do you have? While Dubai is a different place to Abu Dhabi, there are similarities between the both as expat life in the UAE can be similar across the board in most cases

Try Helen Williams at Lifeworks, she does relationship counselling and guidance, and I think a session for a couple is AED 700, or AED 600 for individual She's great, I've been seeing her a little while now so highly recommend

I'm pretty sure that petitioning of any sort is illegal here in the UAE..... Not 100%, but you might want to check  Also completely ridiculous to waste any sort of time or effort on... Dress codes vary from establishment to establishment, and always have done... And it's not just a Dubai thing! Hey, if you can't be bothered wearing heels go to a bar, not a nightclub, or there's always pubs that I'm 100% sure you don't need to wear heels in I've been in nightclubs/bars where women have had heels, and some have had flats and all still look lovely I think I've felt less pressure to be dressed up at a nightclub or bar here in Dubai than back in the UK Moving on

My family are Liverpudlians and I spent my university years in the city -- my favourite area to live in that I'd recommend is Woolton. Not too sussed up on schools, I'm sorry It's a great city to live in for all ages and I'm sure wherever you are you'll definitely enjoy!

This weekend is definitely not a public holiday  also, hubby and I used them once to stay in Abu Dhabi and the silly hotel chain booked us in the WRONG one. Which of course caused lots of stress... If you do use the vouchers you'll have to go to the hotel reservations directly, so just make sure you have all the correct details, dates, it is confirmed (via email also) that you may use the voucher and that it IS in the right hotel

I'm not going to lie to you, but it will take some time. I will have been here for two years in May, and I still don't feel 100% settled. I suppose for me it's prolonged as I lost a sibling last year, so that feeling of homesickness, dread and dislike for Dubai just continued longer than perhaps it should have done. I've come to accept that this is the best place for my husband and I to flourish, in our careers, ourselves and opportunities.... I would never be in the job I have if I was in the UK. Nor would he. It can be a love/hate relationship with this place; at one point you just have to accept that it might not necessarily be the home you're used to, but you as a family can work together to make it your home now. The thing we struggled with was finding "a local", a part of our life we were so used to in the UK. It's taken until now to find a place we enjoy going to regularly, without spending a fortune each time and that's nearby home.

1. We're a lot more resilient than we think we are 2. Patience is a necessary skill you need to learn to prevent you causing harm to other human beings 3. NOTHING is simple, everything takes 5 - 6 times to get it done right in everything 4. Not everybody knows the words please and thank you... And sometimes that's okay.... Culture.... Sometimes 5. Your relationships will be put under strenuous pressure

I of course asked for ID and what not... I suppose it's a sure way of getting the data when everyone's at home waiting for their tea, make sure they're home! Just baffled I guess

Well the mystery continues. It might be that I was clocked at 200km/hr (!!) on Al Khail. The fine was 4000+ dirhams and 12 black points. We are trying to contest it but my husband sent his office manager down and they kept directing him to the cashier rather than anyone that could help. They said we would have to pay for the camera pictures and to contest it anyways so we might as well pay it! I want to go myself but I think my husband is afraid of what I might say!!! I find sometimes throwing a tantrum as a last resort sometimes works  my husband DESPISES the method, but usually after being instructed to talk to several different people all clueless and not helpful, stamping a foot gets quite handy out here I'm curious... Were you actually going 200  or did your husband have the car and isn't owning up? Hahaha I remember my first fine and I was too ashamed to tell my hubby, until he got the text from Dubai Police that grassed me in to him! Paying for the pictures and contesting too, that's frustrating. Everything's money making huh!!

I know Al Khail and Umm Sequiem have clamped down I think on the grace limit so now the actual speed limit show is the only one

Ok we are all aware of the hair disasters that happen to nearly every woman that visits a salon here. It doesn't matter what you pay, where you go or the popular name they are working under. They seem to be everywhere and OMG why do I always find them? Why on earth is it so very hard for a, so called ,'experienced' or 'qualified' hairdresser to do a whole head of highlights/lowlights? Do they think we are so stupid in thinking that by just putting 15 foils in a thick head of hair even though we requested a full head that we will be so happy that we'll run back for a repeat visit? I am absolutely sick to death of wasting hard earned money on these untrained so called professionals that are taking money and playing at being hairdressers with peoples hair. All I need is a 'full' head of proffessionally coloured highlights and a really good cut and blow dry from a 'qualified and experienced hairdresser'.:angry::angry: I hiiiiighly recommend Louise at Hairworks, Ibn Battuta, she's absolutely fantastic and always manages to achieve the look and style I want... I'm a little indecisive with my hair too You'll be maybe looking at 500/600 dhs + but totally worth it, even if you just need that one time to just get started and then you can worry about it again in a few months or so

HD brows aren't tattoos, that's something completely different which basically involved laods of treatments to make your own brows grow out then shaping them. HD IS expensive. So are the semi-permanent tattoos! All the prices I've been seeing are 2,800-3,000 ... :( Price aside, I'm seriously considering getting it done. After hearing some feedback, at the moment I'm erring towards Chloe/clobrows (https://instagram.com/clobrowsdubai/) who works out of Sisters Beauty Lounge in Dubai. Has anyone any experience, good or bad, with her? edited by Sam7 on 26/02/2015 Chloe Walsh's work is absolutely phenomenal, and I've been following her for a while now... It's always something I've wanted myself and will save up in the future as I have very fair eyebrows. In terms of price though -- she doesn't have room to complain really... This will be something on her face, and for that she should only be paying for the highest quality, highest skilled and most experienced technician with the best portfolio The same as any tattooed work on your body, I thought that was a given

I wasn't actually reply to the OP in anyway, shape or form, but to rawla's post! Nowhere did I say it looks like a 'gypsy' either - don't put words into other people mouths RT. It's a personal opinion, that I don't think it looks nice on young children and that they should have the choice. Everyone's ears are different, some close, some don't. Some are sensitive to certain metals, others aren't, because, gosh what a shocker - everyone's body is different and reacts in different ways. Sarahlou123 - painless injections are down to the injector. Never used Emla cream, never felt a thing. Some people are really good at injections, some aren't. Also it's not recommended to use these numbing creams for certain procedures, as it can actually affect the way the skin takes to something. Just FYI. My skin is ridiculously sensitive even with the best injector, having threading swells my eyes up like a frog and my skin flushes ( Cue all the comments in the salon about my skin being flushed) I just grin and bear it now, worth it to iron the lines out :-) Hahaha I'm SO glad it's not just me -- every time I have my eyebrows threaded my eyes water... "Maaam, haha, you're crying, haha" *everyone stares* NO I'm NOT crying
