That's true, try to opt for a well established nursery. I had a very positive experience with Blossom Burj nursery and I know they have 6 branches across Dubai

Go to Karkafi. They are quite used to receiving women undergoing chemo in their shop/saloon. You can go with your mum and inform them it;s for hair loss due to chemo. They will help her find the perfect match to her hair.

Hi FairyDust, It's not about the property price that should be given to the seller, that I know that it has to be a bank manager cheque. There are usually an additional 4% of the property price payable to the land department. I just need to know if those 4% need also to be cash or if we can use a credit card to pay them

Thanks FairyDust, So do we need two bank manager cheques: one for the price of the property and another one for the 4% payable to Dubai Land department?

Hi ladies, We are looking at buying a 2 bedroom apartment in Marina and we have noticed on Dubizzle that too many apartments are for sale in Marina Crown and they are slightly cheaper than those in other Marina buildings. Do you know if there are any problems with Marina Crown building? I would really appreciate your feedback and advice. TIA

They sell them in Arabian Home Healthcare in Bur Dubai along with silicone prothesis. I had a mastectomy last year and I bought a couple of my bras there.

Hi happygolucky. Sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis but I'm sure she will get through it. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last March and I'm almost done with the treatment (still one more week to go for radiotherapy). I did chemotherapy here in Dubai at welcare hospital. I have an insurance coverage but I know that the whole 8 sessions of chemo (4 AC + 4 Taxol) is approximately 110.000 AED, in addition radiotherapy will cost 80.000 AED in GICC whereas the American hospital will charge 120.000 AED for the same treatment. You can find nice natural hair wigs in Karkafi. Chemo sucks but you need to stay positive in order to minimize the side effects. I lost my hair, my eyebrows and my eyelashes but they are back now especially my eyebrows and eyelashes. My hair is back but still short. My advice is to stay focused and positive. YOUR FRAME OF MIND WILL FRAME YOUR WORLD. edited by happy mum on 01/12/2013

Hello ladies, I would appreciate your help in this. I'm planning to go from Dubai to Madinat Zayed in Abu Dhabi this coming Thursday. As it is a public holiday, I'm not sure if it is open, and if so when do the shops open especially the jewelers. TIA.

Hello, I Think what you have is called facial blushing. It's similar to hyperhidrosis but usually hyperhidrosis comes in the hands and the feet. I personally had hyperperhidrosis in my hands and I still have it in my feet. About 13 years ago, I did Surgery in Canada, the procedure is called Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy, the surgeon put clumps the T2 level and since then I haven't experienced any sweating in my hands, I however sweat from my feat but I consider that minor compared to dripping sweat from my hand. I remember, the surgeonat that time said that the same procedure is done for faeciall blushing. I have to tell you, it's invasive although it's simple. I was out driving my car the folowing day, but not every doctor will do it, only a few specialised surgeons all over the world.

If she doesn't reply this morning then I will go to the clinic this afternoon. We will be travelling tomorrow and at one point I thought of cancelling the trip but then we decided to go the 3 of us maybe this will help him open up more and forget about his problems for a while. Ir's hard for us as parents to behave and act as if nothing had happened while you are torn inside. We were very strict with him last year we we discovered he's smiking and we explained how harmful it is for him and we took his laptop and phone away for a while. We were naive and thought that he won't go back to that . Now we realize it was not the good thing to do especially that now he is going through self harm. It's becoming very serious and we can't even think of the idea of possibly losing him.

Thank you very much everybody for your care and help. It's overwelming and greatly appreciated. You really helped me a lot with your advice. We actually emailed Dr. Clare Smart from Lifeworks counselling and we are still waiting for her reply. We explained the whole situation and hopefully she will refer us to the appropriate counseller he should see. Hopefully, we will be able to overcome this, especially that we discovered he's back to his previous bad habits (smoking Duke and seeing his bad influential freinds although we did our best so that he doesn't see them any more by changing schools. We were very disappointed and shocked last Thursday when we found out especially that that same Thursday morning my DH and I were talking about hom and how happy we are with his progression and change... Turned out we were wrong and here we are back to square one. I hope Dr. Clare will be prompt in her reply.

He is more comfortable talking to his dad. He seems to have many things going on at the same time. I told him that we are here for him. This morning he came to me crying and he told me that he needs help. I'm so scared now to leave him by himself at home.

I understand that Tempted, but I doubt if these Arabic women would wonder what is the official language in England if you cannot understand what they are saying.

This is an Arab country and Arabic should be the official language used in Business. English will come in second place. For us as expats we should make an effort to understand the language of our host country and it should not be the opposite. I doubt if Arabs will get frustrated in USA or England if Americans or British people won't understand Arabic.

Hi ladies, do you have any feedback on IVA the cleaning company, they do contracts with the customer and you pay them on a monthly basis. Their prices seem to be reasonable and they come to clean up on your request (once, twice or three times a week). They will be coming next Thursday for me but I'm nervous on signing the contract....anybody out here who have dealt with them? TIA

I think the best solution for hyperhidrosis in the hands is actually ETS, now I don't know if they do that in Dubai, but it's very effective. It's an invasive surgery but it remains the only long term solution

I would recommend also The Children's Garden, it's a wonderful bilingual nursery that goes up to KG2. And by the end of KG2 the child is perfectly bilingual and some of the children are actually multi-lingual as they also learn Arabic. There's one in Green Community, one in Jumeira 2 and they will be opening one in Al Barsha next September as it's getting very popular and they have lots of demands

Try to call Emerill to check your water pump, they can fix it temporarily but then in the long run you have to replace the pump. We had the same problem last year in Forat and we had to replace the water pump. Also, as I'm walking around the Lakes, I'm noticing that many villas have been replacing their water pumps and they are now going for an external one above ground.,

I also second Dragonmart, I've been there many times and they definitely have a huge selection of beads at a very competitive price. I think it's section G or H in Dragonmart, the shops selling jewelry are lined up one next to the other, you can also choose the beads and ask them to arrange it for you according to your own design while you are there. Good luck

I live in The Lakes and I absolutely love it. Lots of greenery and nice lakes that surround the villas. There is a great community feel to it and is close to all amenities. We are 5 to 10 min from MOE, Ibn Battuta mall, JBR and less than 5 min to Dubai Marina. we have a Chortram inside the compound and the Haya Club for all gym freak ;) Couldn't ask for more.

We bought our house directly from the owner last year in May 2010 and we didn't need a broker either for the MOU or the transfer. Everything was done so smoothly between the seller (previous owner) and the buyers (me and my husband) and the best part of it is that we got to save on the commission that we had to pay in case we had to go through an agent.
