Mine used to eat (forcefully) a scrambled egg every morning before going to school. He throws up milk in any form (except for the flavoured store bought ones), so milk is out of question. I would have been the happiest mom if he at least drank a glass of milk. He no longer wants to eat anything in the morning, he prefers eating his breakfast in school. He ate a quarter banana with the greatest difficulty this morning. So many a days he goes to school without eating ANYTHING. (I know I know I am the worst mom). I try my best but if it doesn't go my way ..... there's hardly any point stressing about it! For someone who Has suffered with guilt and depression for the most of her motherhood (I used to cry if my DS didnt finish his breakfast and the entire day was screwed), I have realised that a stressed mom is never a good mom. I rather be happy and guilt free with what I do and the world seems to be a happier place to live in! I try to take the comments of others with a pinch of salt and try not to let it ruin my head! Though I still struggle with it!

I hate to be bound like this. (I take back all that I said about how I would love to be a SAHM). I can't wait to get out and about. I have so much to do ..... But just can't. Argh! I can't even think in peace! After DS1 starts school I would be dead with boredom I guess! But boredom does make you explore other things! I read a book after almost five years! And boy it was refreshing and rejuvenating and I can't stop!

Thanks kitten67 for the advice! I really do understand now what you mean! LOL I made the dreaded trip. They should go in the record books for the worst customer service! No one had a clue about what they had in stock. The staff were all doing their own stuff and they didn't seem to *realise* they had customers. For some reason they didn't want to tailor a smaller size shirt for DS (my DS would float in the shirt they showed me! Not that I could alter it in some way!). Finally they wrote down his measurements. The shorts I have decided to alter it myself. Couldn't deal with their attitudes any longer! Over the payment counter the girls were having a gala time chit chatting while customers waited *patiently* for their turn. Rude and dumb. The price is a total rip off. I have never written such a terrible review about a place! Feel like such a bad person! LOL! Thankfully I have to go there only once a year and I am not looking forward to it!

Please take care of mom by Kyung Sook Shin. Every mother, daughter, son, husband should read this book. What I thought would be a long and boring read due to the classification of the book (not a contemporary fiction fan!) ..... was completed in 2 days straight!

My 19 month DD is also going through a very fussy food phase. Its so frustrating. Maybe your DS is just bored with rice? I know my DD gets bored if I serve her the same types of food over and over. Just a thought. Anyway, hopefully these phases pass quickly. I finally took him to the doc yesterday just to check ... And apparently he is all fine (no ear infection, throat infection or the likes). He seems to be going through a phase. And yes it is frustrating to say the least! Just trying to keep his intake of quality food high.

Thank you plain Jane and kiwispiers! Life without rice is pretty difficult to imagine for us! I think I will just stop pushing him and let him eat what he likes as long as it is nutritious. Hopefully this is just a phase.

We are Indians and it's a staple food for us. The doc insists on rice twice a day. I can't even get him to eat 2 spoons of rice. What do I substitute rice with? I am happy as long as he eats. Just stressed out a bit that he does not eat our normal food! He used to love it .... Not sure what happened now. He is refusing toast / bread too :(

Oh my! Thank you so much ladies for letting me know! I would have waited until July! Will go to the school first thing on Sunday! This is the only school we are backing on and we withdrew admission from other schools since this was our first school of choice. Argh .... I hope things work out fine. I am not sure how we did not get the email (me and DH both!).

There was a second installment of the deposit due by today (a further 1500) in order to secure the seat. They notified by email. Did you receive this? No! Is that for FS2 2012? We had made a payment of 2000 Dhs in March (which was for securing the spot as per their email) after which we haven't received any kind of email.

It is more of a pressure issue for younger women to dress according to what they see. I "had" to change my wardrobe because I was considered (even by my husband), the most boring, outdated woman on this planet for wearing modest clothes. I own a few revealing clothes now (which, the old hiccup would have never bought) but I have saved them for the right occasion and place. A mall not being one of them. There is a competition out there. If married women like me feel the "need" to dress up, imagine the thought process of the single ladies. P.S. Honestly, wanting to wear shorts a tube tops is almost a compulsive behaviour. I feel I have come from the before Christ era when I go to Dubai Mall, MOE in jeans and t-shirt! edited by hiccup on 15/05/2012

Amandashaks ... I checked the university you have mentioned as well and yes they charge pretty much the same everywhere :( .... But those are not online or distance education? They are regular or part time courses with campuses here. I was assuming that online courses might be cheaper but I couldn't have been more wrong! Skykitty - I was actually a bit zapped that it was so expensive! And yes, it is out of reach for lots of people ... At least for people like me! I should have done my masters long back when education was cheaper! Hindsight and all :( Thanks americanfamily3 for your suggestion. I would look into it. I was trying for Phoenix which seems to be out of my budget :( edited by hiccup on 15/04/2012

Africa is a must if you are looking for anything wooden. But definitely follow GM's advice, it is far too easy to spend your money there. Keep an idea of what you would like to buy and try not to stray away for that!:) I second Africa. Bought some nice candle stands, spoons and crochet sweaters for the kids from there. I liked the Thai pavillion too. Picked up some oils and scents. Pakistan was good for rugs and carpets if you fancy one of those kinds.

Alrighty! So I think salon ink it is! Thanks gals! Should I ask for someone specific? I have heard of Ali on this board. Hey hiccup please update to tell us how it went. I also have long hair, way too long right above my bum. Have never had a haircut here and would like someone who knows what cut is suitable for my face. My hair is curly and thick so really scared to go short. If anyone can share what the prices are for a cut, that would be helpful. Sure Lulee. I have an appointment on the 4th of April though. So you would have to wait :) ... They would not share their prices on phone but they gave me a starting price of 280 Dhs. A bit pricey I guess .... but I wouldnt give my hair to anyone who wouldnt treat it well! Hopefully for what they charge they would do a good job! Would keep you updated.

I am bit worried if I am choosing the right salon! I was thinking of salon ink. I need a makeover. I have long black hair in layers now. Bored with the look and am planning to retain the length a bit .... But go with flakes or bangs in the front. I need the hairdresser to know and advise me on what exactly would suit my face, because I don't wish to look uglier than what I am lol! So Salon Ink would be a good idea? I like Juan's too but I am not sure if they can advise me on the haircut?

Hiya Plumie! DS2 likes everything that DS1 plays! Lots of rubbish in my iPad but there are a few that he really likes. Fruit Ninja (likes to go shashak every time the fruits are flung in the air!) Toddler alphabet (he likes to listen to the alphabet song and play with the puzzle pieces) Sprinkle junior (likes spraying water on the fire) Play piano Ant smash Color drops A few games from myfirstapp.com (chk the istore for this) for educational things. Shape puzzle (he needs help but he likes it)

Thank you ladies! Great suggestions, especially Beebers! That's the kind of advice I was really looking for! I have been forever wanting to do my colors after a similar conversation earlier, but I never really did it. This might be the right time. DH won't complain about it ;). Thanks for the link nutty, I would have options to choose from! I luuurrrvvvee VS amyaus! The clothes look so flattering! If only I had the body of those models .... Sigh! Lol! I think I am going to have a roll ;) I think, what I have realised in this conversation is that I am not accessorising (if that's a word :D) myself enough! Hmm... My shoes need some work too. No short dresses in my wardrobe yet. But I am going to team it up with leggings and see how it goes. I have never tried that look though! I think when I start shopping I should take one of you girls along :D
