Morality is universal, religion is not, neither does morality require religion. We all have a complex set of ethical systems that is linked to the man as political being, his need to live within a society and feel respected by that society. I also don't buy the fear factor but rather believe that people's morals are driven by compassion, empathy and love.

Very bad manners indeed. Weren't they the ones suppose to organise your party and treat you in stead of the other way around? Don't let them get you down but rather revel in the knowledge that at least you are not disgracefully passed out on some doorstep.

Both antibiotics are prescribed for respiratory ilnesses, you can actually take the zinnat as it is a very good antibiotic. Bronchitis can turn into pneumonia with a snap of the finger, don't wait as a trip to the hospital will only add to financial and marital stress. Since you feel that poorly, I suggest that you commence with the zinnat immediately. Poor you, hope you are feeling better soon so that you can also kick your husband in the xxxx :(

With regard to my below comment, I do not insinuate that mothers who leave the situation alone or propose to close the door don't care, before anyone jumps down my throat ;)

How do you guys feel about your in-laws in general? I'm just curious to know if there are others who feel the same way as I feel about mine... To be more specific, I have had issues with my in-laws for the past 8 years of my marriage, but I've always managed to overcome my frustration and showed no reaction...I don't know maybe the solution is to live in different cities, and not close to each other. Different continents and my husband agrees too ;)

Teen Girls....hmmmm..... Flylady does not work, as when you come back to it, she has trashed it again. Start at 8 am and you will be done by 2pm. Loads of plastic boxes from ikea (stacking ones) required. I just bought 2 plastic storage drawer cabinets and another two smaller desktop ones. Those are the ones she will be creating labels for. I am praying :(

I have given my Teen a link to the flylady website a while back when she said she will look for ideas on Youtube :d Perhaps I should try to spend more than 3 seconds myself on the site and try out a new schedule again.

Some of the IKEA textiles are not too far removed from your ideas, although it hardly qualifies as luxurious textiles http://www.ikea.com/ae/en/catalog/categories/departments/Textiles/10655/ edited by hollyhook on 07/12/2011

I tip when the person is clearly an assistant but not when it is a senior stylist or established hairdresser. I don't tip a percentage of the bill either as I normally pick up products too. On average I will leave 20-40 dhs to an assistant. I was surprised reading this earlier http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tip_(gratuity) to see how the custom varies between countries. The people who are most deserving of gratuity are not getting any, they are the nurses of this world and those caring for the elderly.

Decluttering is good, but sometimes the whole thing seems overwhelming. never take out or plan to do anything for more than 15 mins. Explain 15 mins is so little time she couldnt even watch a tv show, so she must have time to do just 15 mins. And it makes it easy, its not too big a task, not overwhelming. and 15 mins a day makes a huge difference. This is good advice too. I only saw this after posting my reply. Thank you, I agree that 15 minutes is manageable and during that time she can hang clothes, get dirty ones in the basket and put away stationery etc.

Nothing worked, but I don't remember being willful, or stubborn or angry or even being messy on purpose...room was just a natural pit, I knew where everything was and it was like a cosy nest. Thats not a lot of help is it? I think you nailed it, you could be twins Aroha. I too have picked up items, put it in a bag and gave it away without it having any impact. She is at her happiest nesting, painting and creating blissfully unaware of what her immediate surrounds look like. She loves collecting odd items like a bicycle chain and will take it everywhere with her until she finds a new rock, stick or interesting bit that fascinates her. I also close the door, but when she runs out of socks after I asked for dirty clothes every day and only half of the laundry reaches the laundry room, it gets to me. I just started a big clear out and will ask her to create labels for her drawers and help me sort the room to involve her. Maybe helping her tidy once a week will be better for the two of us rather than moaning every day and freaking out once a term :(

Have you considered getting her checked out for ear infection or urinary tract infection? Don't bribe with chocolates or any other food is the only advice I can offer. Children are different. I had one who slept through and another who woke me several times at night and still sleeps much less hours a night than the sibling.

I told my 7 year old exactly what's been happening and what to do if it happened to him. No use hiding the truth. Same. I furthermore emphasize that the majority of child abuse is committed by family/friends/acquaintances. No use telling them only about stranger danger when the worst might lurk among the unexpected.

In short according to my own experiences and all the threads below there are: bacterial infections viral infections fungal infections allergies that are causes of nappy rash, therefore different creams according to the diagnosis. My son like some posters below reported, was allergic to his nappies. He was also allergic to apple, even if I ate apple it affected him and had the dreaded rota virus at some point. A paed gave me the tip to dust his bum with maizena/corn starch after application of the ointment. Both lactose intolerance as well as fungal or thrush infections can cause green watery explosive stools.

I do agree with all the below on one level, however on another it is also true that the average villa or apartment in the average neighborhood in Dubai, the average car on the road in the average street does not reflect a poor or even middle class nation. The majority of professionals and office workers are still living a better lifestyle surrounded by nicer things than what might be the case in another country.

Pixie your question was fair and nothing out of the ordinary. DomesticG was completely out of line with her response and twisted the question to become something it was not meant to be. Salary boosts morale and companies are known to pay employees above and certain key employees high above the norm as part of their retainment strategies. To answer your question, yes I would do a better job should the increase come with proper recognition too. However, a great salary should be supported by commitment, respect, loyalty and more by both the employee and the employer. Recognition and not salary top the lists of what employees want. That said, if an employee is not working to their full potential under favourable working circumstances and earning the norm salary, no salary increase will change performance. With regard to restructuring/retrenchment, those are the first I let go as they might look like solid workers, but they are not. K3 [i'>skills[/i'> refer to "how to" questions. You want to add [i'>knowledge[/i'> answering the "what is" questions, [i'>talent[/i'> indicating certain recurring patterns of thought, feelings and behavior that can be productively applied and lastly the [i'>strengths[/i'> of an employee. Collectively these are the "competencies" and is used in the selection, compensation, evaluation, and development of individuals :) edited by hollyhook on 12/11/2011

I really liked Jimmy Choo as well, they were giving out the scented papers at the airport awhile back. I think in Dubai it's exclusive to duty free... Anyone tried buying online & having things sent? [b'>There's a well known cosmetics website based in HK that gives free shipping- have had cosmetics sent no problems[/b'> so will see if I can get perfume!! Is that Strawberrynet? I'm curious to know if you had the items delivered direct to your door via courier or the items were sent to your PO Box number via the post....I've asked on here before and couldn't get a confirmed answer, thanks! edited by Pomegranate on 09/11/2011 PO Box via the post. They also asked for proof in the form of a bank statement/lease contract etc to validate the account. I was hesitant to provide this but a quick internet search shows that this is fairly common practice for new accounts.

Best friends should be able to discuss this issue without being offended, It's a child's safety that's at risk. If the Mother was driving her car and the child wasn't restrained, then she needs to be reminded of the dangers. Well said and that is what the OP eventually ended up doing. This whole issue has nothing to do with how parents raise their kids and parenting style as insinuated by a few other posters, but it has to do with safety and the best interest of the child IMHO. edited by hollyhook on 07/11/2011

Competely normal to pay per month, in advance. Some would even require payment per term, in advance. The bottomline is that it is normal to pay either per lesson, or per month/term depending on the tutor/coach.

then maybe someone should come up with a better question than "where are you from" to make it clear what it is you are asking :) Maybe I am not complex enough because when I ask where are you from I usually mean where were you born..then...I might ask other questions ie their heritage because ultimately that is what you are asking, so maybe the question should be "what is your heritage" ??? Perhaps it could be phrased differently but this very question asked in this way has become universally understood among global nomads and migrant workers of all shapes and linguistic abilities. It is one little (big ;-) question that binds us together as global world walkers since it is understood that we are not from"here" but come from somewhere and are shaped by a lifetime of experiences in additional to heritage

I think when people ask "where are you from" that they are trying to place your facial features and mannerisms, gestures, way of speaking, accent and cultural characteristics into context. I also think it is a wonderful conversation starter amongst global nomads in order to establish common ground or simply just to learn about a new place, a new face. Sue B I completely disagree with you. When I ask someone that question (I do so all the time) it is for the above reasons. A passport is a piece of paper. I am interested in the person, not the travel document ;-)

Flipboard is absolutely amazing and is constantly listed amongst the top apps. It is free too and I find that I deleted other magazines as Flipboard is so comprehensive and user friendly. For free books I use scribd http://www.scribd.com/ and download to I-books. The other free sites carry mostly classics whereas scribd is a bit of everything - all free.

I was just about to post something similar to Ansie's reply. Our kids have PE 4 times a week in Primary (2 swimming, 1 hall, 1 field) and they are also formally assessed on how "organised they are with their PE kit". If they have PE before the first break, they go to school in their PE clothes, if only after the first break, they change at school. For swimming they always change at school.
