Hi ILW - I've only had it a week and not really experimented yet. There is a poster on here called Barsha Lady who has one and convinced me to get one who may know more! They are the same price in all the stores but I got mine at Just Kidding in the G&DP. 1995aed including the seat fabric. You can change this if you have another child of different gender. My DD is 6 months and it is suitable from 6mos + up to I think 15kgs. It really is compatible with all airlines as long as you can prove it folds down which is easy to do. It weighs absolutely nothing and has a carrying handle that makes it easy to lift. I would recommend to anyone! Bit of a splurge from the Maclaren which is probs half the price, but we are flying with her at 7 months and then 11 months so worth it for us. thanks! DS is 17 months and we've been travelling loads with him, wish i've seen this before. we're travelling again in august and december (twice a year basically) so would come in handy. we have a mothercare stroller at the moment that closes like those little umbrella ones, lightweight but definitely not as compact as the yoyo. DS weighs just over 10kgs so hopefully he wont p1g out on milk & food and gain 5kgs in a flash LOL now to convince DH ... thanks again!

sorry to hijack your thread OP - i have a quick question for The Dangerous Blonde re: Yoyo. I've just been on their website and it looks amazing! Until what age (or kgs) can it be used, do you know? Do prices differ from store to store? And does EK know they are fully compliant with cabin baggage or will I have to pull out the dimensions chart at the aircraft? LOL TIA

Ladies, I surrender in front of majority: it happens and is excusable to forget your child in the car while you focus on the shopping bags! No comment anymore! :( perhaps if you read the article I posted - it certainly made me be a bit more understanding..... from this artile: "It only takes two seconds to look in the backseat before you leave your car. It could be a lifetime of regret if you don't." and "Never assume someone else -- a spouse, an older child -- has taken a young kid out of her seat." i agree, bad things happen to good people. but simoralu44 (although a bit harsh in *some* of the things she says) has the right to her opinion. i'm also baffled by it all (see my previous post).

meagle has great advice. food before one is for fun. your BM is enough for now. offer food at mealtimes and, like meagle says, if she eats great, if not, then dont fret. steam veggies and cut them into chip sized sticks - easy for baby to hold. put mashed potato in a bowl and let her feed herself. eating didnt click with my son until he was 10 months old, before that it was all messy-play. read up on baby lead weaning, it's great! and familiarize yourself with your baby's gag reflex. distinguish between gagging and choking. and make sure you know what to do in each instance. it's the best weaning method ever! good luck

I'm so so sorry Cosmo - I read your previous thread about the heartbeat and was so happy for you. You must be utterly distraught and my heart goes out to you. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and was rushed into surgery straight away to have a D&C, but as the others said, in case there is a slim chance of things working out, you can let nature do its thing. I found the D&C procedure quite traumatic (I won't go into details but I am sure you can imagine) so would have preferred to go home and grieve in private but the Drs ushered me into surgery immediately. Good luck for tomorrow xxxx i had 2 d&c's and 1 natural at home and the latter was terrible. the worst experience of my life. i cannot recommend it. sorry to hear about your loss TDB - i know you have a bundle of joy now - i love happy-endings. OP, good luck with today's appointment. i really hope your dr's findings were wrong. i can also recommend dr george if you want to see someone, he is fantastic x

confusion due to drop off schedule changes, perhaps. but getting home when little one was with you and no-one asks "where's X?" "X has been very quiet, lets check on him" ... i dont understand. i'm not judging, i'm questioning. how on earth do you not miss the presence of your child for 3 hours? i've seen the oprah segment and cried too. it's just difficult to understand.

i wont have visitors (except mum) at 2 months. i remember being exhausted when DS was 2 months old. all i did was feed, clean poop, burped DS, and start all over again. i could honestly not be entertaining guests - no matter how self-sufficient they are. i'd always be wondering in the back of my mind if they're ok, if they feel "left out", if they are enjoying themselves, if if if. not sure how tight you are with your sister, so perhaps it's a different scenario?

i agree with LB79. for the next 9 months you are going to poked and prodded (in a good way, and for a VERY good cause) so better get used to it. it is not harmful to you or your baby and some of the best progress appointments of mine were from internal scans. such a wonderful time. CONGRATULATIONS :D

we've used the unaccompanied minor service from EK many times for my step-children. they were younger when they first travelled "solo". the service is fantastic. once you've completed the forms of who will drop them at the airport here, and collect them at their destination - it is a mission to change it - for security reasons. you have to submit passport copies of all parties concerned and personally take them, with i.d., to the u/m section at the airport. they will be seated in that section until departure time when a designated flight attendant will take them to the aircarft. (you pay for that flight attendant's ticket, so she is their travel companion and not on duty per se.) they will be seated right at the back of the aircraft and "their flight attendant" will be on call for the duration of the flight. interaction with fellow passengers are monitored too. upon arrival they will be escorted to the u/m section again where your parents will wait for them, after having proved unequivocally that they are indeed who they say they are. Ridiculous! Saying that, DD's nursery was 14,500dhs a term which works out as 43,500dhs a year which to my mind is insane considering all she does all day is play with rattles, a bit of tummy time, feed and have her nappy changed! And she probably spends half the time sleeping! what?!? and i thought our nursery fees of 37k was over the top. good grief! at least you're almost at king's fees, so it shouldnt be such an adjustment for you LOL

Definitely wise not to keep your cash here. . umm - because it was the crash of local banks that caused the recession..... Just sayin' because if, g-d forbid, something happens to you or your husband, your accounts are frozen and you are scr3wed. it takes ages to get money out of a bank account that has been frozen. been there, done that :(

kiwispiers, i did a tour at english college on SZR and stood outside their fs1 class watching them. although they have little desks and it's definitely more structured than nursery, i didnt feel it was too "big school" IYKWIM. the kids were still playing but definitely learning in the process. BTW i liked english college but when i met with the fs1 teacher after class (there was another mum present), she treated us with such disrespect that i thought no way in h3ll will i put my DS at age 3 with that woman! it's similar for us, at home children generally start school at age 5 or 6 - so i'm also frightened to death about this aged 3 thing ...

Alternatively say nothing but at the end of the treatment - turn round and say "Now i would have given you a 20% tip but you were very rude to me by saying xxx - so i think i will use that money to buy myself a cake to cheer myself up; so thank you" best solution i've seen so far!

KH, it's very interesting and once you start reading, you'll realise just how it makes sense. have a look at this: http://www.rapleyweaning.com/ i have gill's book if you want to borrow it (not sure how old your little one is ...) i was (am) an avid fan of baby whisperer. i was so 'dumb' as a first time mum and her schedule/routines (especially the awake times!) helped me so much. DS is a champ at giving tired q's, and he transitioned from month to month so easily. DS just wasnt a gina ford baby. i tried - had schedules pasted all over the house but failed miserably at feeding/burping/changing/bathing/whatever along her time-lines. i have a friend, however, whose DD is now 2 1/2 and still follows a RIGID gf schedule. we didnt see her for the first 4 months of her DD's life as she spent all her time in the nursery fine-turning and perfecting the gf schedule. you could blow a whistle and her DD would fall asleep on cue! so it does work for some. edited by ilovewine on 15/05/2013

When I confronted them they actually refused to admit it, when I called the management and made a big deal they finally admit that every time they took my son away they bottle fed him. Explained a lot to why he refused to breastfeed, he just wasnt hungry. Goodness KenzaB, that is utterly atrocious, I would have been absolutely livid. Beyond livid in fact. Awful that you went through that. I've heard a few stories along those lines which is why I've never let any of my babies out of my sight in the hospital. Along with instructions in chart that my baby is not to be taken from my room without me going too. Which didn't stop me waking one night to find a nurse walking out the door with my baby. I hit the roof. I found the 'we know best' attitude of some of the nurses appalling. I'm under dr Anne at city hospital so far so good I had the tour of the postnatal and labour ward all is well looks very smart and clean. I written up my birth plan which states baby is not to be taken from me at any point. I was reassured this will not happen . City. Hospital no longer have a nursery the baby stays with you at all times :-) they have a lactation consultant and also a group to attend during the week for extra support. I'm due to deliver my third baby first in the UAE in June. I hope my info helps. You can take a tour every Friday at 11am and 4pm sharp. i delivered my son at city last year and you are correct. in fact, they insisted he sleeps on my chest for comfort, warmth and ease when breastfeeding. when he had to be checked for something they did it right next to my bed. the only time he left the room was for his first bath - and we went with the nurse so she could show us how to do it LOL the only thing that i missed out on was the lactation consultant. by the time we were in our room, she had left for the day and there wasnt any back-up consultant. and she didnt come to the hospital on the friday. i had to get a lactation consultant to do home visits - well worth it! good luck x

thanks ladies. my son is 16 months old. he will turn 3 in january 2015, so will have to start school that year. appletiser, that is exactly what i'm afraid of. even though FS1 is not hectic, it *must* be "easier" in nursery than in school. so when DS starts FS2 in school, he will feel a bit left behind. i dont want that. kings (my first choice) has closed FS1 waitlist for 2015. i missed it because we were away. i've emailed them but of course havent had a response. to phone is such a nightmare - they never pick up! do you think i should just pop in and plead ignorance? i'm so new to this and it's all so daunting. regent's 2015 FS1 registrations only open in 2014 Q4. i'm not too keen on a GEMS school so trying to avoid that but if i have to, i think i'd go for JPS or Wellington on SZR.

hi kittykat72, we're the same age and i also had trouble conceiving, and when i did, i lost all my babies (x3). it has been a devastating road for us. i saw dr rosalie sant, primavera clinic and i did bbt charting (www.fertilityfriends.com is great for this). dr sant was supportive and appreciated the charting because that helped her with pinpointing certain issues that i had. i fell pregnant in 2011 and although i was on clexane injections for the entire 9 months (a small price to pay), my gorgeous little boy was born in 2012. look her up, she is fantastic. read as much as you can about ovulation, symptoms, signs etc. dont get stuck on the 27/8 day cycle and look (i mean LOOK) for signs of ovulation. although i never used her, dr oh comes highly recommended for accupuncture when TTC - search for her on the bumps page. i know what you are going through and it is heart-breaking. all of a sudden all you can see around you are babies and strollers and bumps. you have to smile and genuinely be happy when congratulating ANOTHER friend who announces her pregnancy all the while struggling with your emotions. *try* to not let that get you down. it is difficult, i know, and easier said than done but it all adds to the stress of TTC. i dont know if i've helped, but i'm thinking of you. it seems we spend our entire lives trying not to fall pregnant and when you want to, you cant. cruel joke, isn't it? good luck ***lots of baby dust your way *** xxx

"an artist is someone who will stand the test of time, a singer has a couple of songs" ... we're all talking about this little boy's management but where are his parents in all this? oh wait, his mother is having coffee with dina lohan, and look how her daughter turned out. whether i'm 19, 29 or 39, if i behaved like this my mum would let me have it! sorry all your kiddies had to wait and sweat it out. hopefully they managed to enjoy some of it x

single or double ... but definitely electric! i agree with a PP about realistic expectations. my first day at the office i managed to express 20mls only - from BOTH breasts! it was a different environment, phones ringing, i could hear people talking in the corridor ... very weird. i walked out crying and thought i was going to give up. well, i kept at it and so much so that a couple of weeks down the line i expressed more at work than i did at home - sometimes 90mls per breast. stay focused and never lose sight of what/who it's for. i expressed at the times that i would've been feeding DS had i been at home. i dont express anymore and have been back at work now for almost a year - DS is 16 months old - and I'm still breastfeeding - so it's all worth it in the end. good luck x

hi imamme, my son's the same age and goes to nursery (working mum here too). DS can point to his nose, eyes and ears easily. he can identify things out of books "where is the sheep?" and he points to the sheep. he can make some animal noises too. he says mama, dada, tata, daa, can throw his hands to the side to show when he's finished with something and although he cant 'sing' along to tunes, he can play along, for instance "the wheels of the bus go round and round" - he motions with his arms in circles / "bumblebee sat on my nose/toes" - he moves his finger from his nose to his toes. DS also loves to dance. we bought a reem of paper with those thick non-toxic crayons for him to draw with. i put him in his high-chair and let him scribble for a bit. do you have an ipad that you can download apps onto? you can show your maid how to spend an hour a day on apps (not sure about the time-line). DS loves listening to the gigglebellies on youtube - the songs are great and very interactive but she will have to be physically interactive for him to follow suit. i read the "what to expect" books and am now reading the toddler one and i find that very useful too. they have great tips and what to be doing with your toddler. alternatively look online - but dont worry if your son cant do something that someone says he "ought to be doing" - each child develops at his own pace - just add that activity into his routine, he'll catch on soon enough. HTH
