I am followed by dr. George Michailidis who now delivers at City Hospital (but is based at n9ne medical). I have not delivered yet, but went through a D&C (after missed miscarriage) and a CVS with him so far, and had none of the problems often reported during/after such procedures, receiving also a very good "psychological" support from him. My husband and I actually think he is an excellent doctor and would recommend him for any pregnancy at risk. I am delivering next week through c-section (my stubborn choice, he was not pressing me in this direction at all). edited by GattaMatta on 10/11/2011 i'm with dr sant @ primavera medical clinic - love, love, love her and she's totally pro natural birth. however, i cannot sing dr george's praises enough. he's helped us through a very difficult time, and is simply an amazing man. good luck with your delivery next week x

the first time i made a big ho'haa out of it. treated him to a super-expensive dinner and said it'll probably be the last time we're at X restaurant because nursery fees are so high LOL took him a while but he was ecstatic. we lost that precious little baby plus babies 2 & 3 thereafter :( so with baby nr 4 (i'm 32 weeks now) we were planning everything diligently and i knew immediately. unfortunately, as a result of our history, we were both so sceptical and did not want to get our hopes up that it was a question of "i'm pregnant" and getting to the doctor as fast as i could. when we reached our 12 week mark, it was celebration time - with apple juice ;) congrats on your pregnancy ... i assume?

are there seat protector "things" that you can buy to put between the isofix base and your car seat? the isofix base is damaging the leather seat and our baby's not even in it yet! i know safety of baby is paramount, and i dont want anything that could jeapardize that, so if anyone knows of anything to this effect ... much appreciated!

i agree skykitty, i've never seen "entitlement" like over here. i only milk my pregnancy at home with DH, he is after-all 1/2 of the reason i'm in the state that i am :D i feel guilty now for kind of expecting a seat on the metro :( Wondering if you did not put on the "if you dont get up and offer me a seat, I would smack you on the face" look :D Needless to say I always got offered a seat on the metro :D edited by hiccup on 02/11/2011 HAHAHA i havent, but i'm going to now!

i also think it's either in you or not, it doesnt matter which country/city you live in. some people have no manners and do not consider others when it comes to this kind of thing. a simple apology takes 2 minutes to text/phone/email ...

Spongey, I normally agree with you, but that comment is bang out of order! For the OP, I wouldn't call the police, but would warn them that I'd it continues you will be left with little choice. Good luck, noise pollution is a huge stressor and one you can live without. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions..I think calling the police to get someone put in jail is bang out of order. i agree. i find it very sad that one expat would rat out another expat. we are all here on 'borrowed time' and how would you like it if your life, your future, your kids' futures are cut short because someone called the cops? some time ago it was unheard of for expats to threaten each other with the police. now it seems to be the norm. to the OP, sorry you're going through this, we all have crappy neighbours at one time or another but we live and let live because of our respective visa situations. i hope you get this sorted somehow. btw: our current neighbours prefer to drill holes at midnight. i bang on the walls with my high heels and they stop. the next morning we growl at each other over the fence, but come the weekend all's ok again. until the next drilling session grrrrrrrrr

when we travel, we drive to a certain location (springs, ranches, wherever), park our car there and then flag a cab down. it's utterly useless ordering a cab, even to the airport.

i got on the metro the other day and had to stand all the way from jebel ali to difc. i'm 7 months pregnant. no-one offered their seat to me. like skykitty, i also say "it'll go much quicker if you wait for me to get out of the lift, before you attempt to get in"

oh irooni, i'm not saying she is, i'm asking "if she is" because i have no idea either. if there is no clause, then i agree with the other posters, do what feels right to you. if she was such a part of your family, and your son loves her, then surely she's worth a little extra? only you would know. sorry she's leaving, from what i gather on this website, good maids are few & far between x

in february it'll be 10 years since we moved to dubai, and we're still enjoying every minute. i cant remember the last time we were at brunch (2007?), we are very active and do sporty things after hours and over weekends. we live in affordable and decent accommodation, dewa is reasonable too. like another poster said, if we experience bad service we just dont go back. we are probably in the minority of people we cannot complain about du, rta, our bank (hs**). we've just never had any hassles with them. also never had phantom fines (touch wood). dubai is home to us. we go to our home country and enjoy the food, the people, the crisp blue sky but come 15 days (max), we're ready to 'come home'. good luck DDougherty, and enjoy your trip home!

... I have to wonder what the rest of the street thought when they saw 'bare-foot' footprints in the snow going down the road! hehehe too funny. i saw them in a sports shop but cant remember which one. i've used them before for rock-climbing, much easier to grip with than a regular shoe.
