I bought my car seats in Canada, they have better safety features than the ones sold here. I will highly recommend you to bring yours from there. Also, here, they cost a lot more

good to know as I am also travelling with 2 small children in the summer, they have a new route to Bogota, I bought all our tickets for less than 1000 dollars each, it was a real bargain, less than half of the usual price. I hope it is fine. I read the airline will even give you free hotel accommodation if the stopover is long.

I travelled at 20 weeks for a 7 hour flight then a 10 hour flight to go to Miami and viceversa at 24 weeks, I was traveling with a toddler which makes things more challenging. I felt fine, even with the jet lag. I worn compression socks, drank a lot of water, went to the toilet almost every hour to pee, walk and do some light yoga streches. Also, took a lot of healthy snacks. In early pregnancy I would be worried about nauseas and vomit, otherwise it should be ok.

We are flying AD-London-Miami with our 2 year old son. I would like to take milk cartons as I prefer milk than juices or sodas for my son, even for me ;). I dont think I will have trouble with milk leaving from here, but what about in London? would security let me take the milk to the plane, also coming back from USA. Anyone knows? We are flying BA, would they have milk boxes to give my son if I ask?, so I dont have to carry. <em>edited by imolinar on 14/05/2014</em>

I got married in Colombia but used to live in Canada, so we did everything in Canada, course, bans, interview (as my husband is not Catholic), etc. Then, they send the papers to Colombia and we got married. That should be the standard around the world for all catholics, so talk to St. Mary's church.

JJBAUS, I have the Mongan one, which I have finished now and also have some of the others but not finished reading those yet. I am due in the next couple of weeks (but hoping she will come sooner rather than later!) so more than happy to pass them on then. I have the Katherine Greaves Hypnobirthing book and CDS, as well as another one from the UK by a UK midwife which I ordered off Amazon. (Gone a bit mad on the natural birth books as you can see!) Some of them I would like to keep for next time but happy to lend them or if you want to copy the CDs you're welcome. I'm in AD, but in Dubai a fair bit. Hi, BellaUk, I live in AD and I am looking for the Morgan book, so if I can borrow it with the CD it would be great (if JJBAUs does not take it), please let me know, thanks BTW, where are you delivering? <em>edited by imolinar on 14/04/2014</em>

I would wait till 6 months as others have said. If you still want to start on solids just avoid cereals, here some ideas http://ohlardy.com/why-your-baby-should-not-eat-baby-cereal BTW, my mom gave me soups and real food since I was 1 month old, it sounds crazy but that was normal, fortunately I have no allergies, no health problems.

I am also due in October, the doctor asked me if I wanted the NT scan as I am over 35, I declined, because if it comes positive, it is not accurate, and would only worry me for the rest of the pregnancy as I am against abortion, but even if you were to terminate due to chromosomal abnormalities, is it legal in the UAE?

I would give her a warning, keep an eye on her, and once the contract is up I would look for another maid. I dont think I can trust someone that is flirting with God knows who and may cause you and your family a lot problems. I would not trust that she has a boyfriend back home, even married maids come to UAE and cheat on their husbands.

you dont really need to buy maternity clothes, many tops and dresses are wide and lose in the belly area, also for pants and skirts you can buy the ones with elastic. I actually hated maternity pants with the extra material on the belly, it was too itchy. MAX has cheap maternity clothes and sometimes you even find them in carrefour (from H&M and Next with removed tags) .

Thank you for all your responses. I really appreciate them. I am supposed to report to the maternity ward tomorrow morning at 7 am for the induction. Well, I have made up my mind and am not going. I will still go to the hospital tomorrow but I will just see a doctor instead. I am now 41 weeks and I have decided that I will wait it out until 42 weeks. It is not abnormal to go two weeks past your due date and I am a bit annoyed that doctors here would say that I need to be induced. I am not being irresponsible. I am going to the hospital every 48 hours for a CTG and my baby is not in distress! Although I am annoyed to still be pregnant since my other three children were all born before their due dates, I am not in such a rush to be induced tomorrow morning... edited by AnonDubai on 24/02/2014 good for you, let us know what happens, I wish I had waited longer, but I was induced at 41 weeks and it was a nightmare.

I dont know how those ovulation test work, but once you ovulate is late, you need to have intercourse 2-3 days before ideally. Have you tried taking the temperature and looking at your mucus? fertilityfriend.com is a great tool my periods are also all over, but I can predict ovulation and have gotten pregnant easy bith times I tried. <em>edited by imolinar on 16/02/2014</em>

I didn't want to say it as so many people use these products, but the fees are extremely high. Financial advisors like to sell these products because they are paid by Zurich and FP. IMO you would do better to go through an online stockbroker (such as Barclays, Hargreave Lansdowne or similar) and invest in equity or bond funds through their 'fund supermarkets'. If you can do this through an ISA, it's tax free. Entry fees are often 0% and annual management fees are discounted. This doesn't suit everyone though as you need to be comfortable choosing which fund or funds to invest in. can you open an online stockbroker account offshore?. I was looking at Vanguard in the USA but you have to be a resident, so I am looking for an alternative. <em>edited by imolinar on 09/02/2014</em>

also to add, my investments for the past 3-4 years with Friends Providence and Zurich are in the minus, losing money and no happy. I am actually surprised people are happy and making good profits since I have not met anyone making good returns. I need a better advisor.

The problem with Friends Providence and Zurich is that their fees are very high and eat all the profits, also huge penalties if you withdraw the money before the expire of the term.

QUOTE: "Dr Amal Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) said that because labour laws already allow working women to take time to breastfeed, adding the requirement to the legislation showed consistency." Is this Dr for real?, who can possibly go home and return to work in 30 minutes twice per day and breastfeed?. Pumping is not an option in many cases. Why dont they implement better laws for women,i.e extending maternity leave, allowing women to sponsor husband/children without restrictions as men do, etc....

animals are mistreated and druged so tourists can pose and take pictures. Do your research before you decide. I care about treatment to animals so I would never take part of that, but each person has their own values and believes.

I think the rules have toughen up a lot. I toured a school in Abu Dhabi, and the buses now have cameras, female assistants and do various checks to make sure children are not left behind, why dont you ask your school about their rules?. However, I dont think I would let my son go on a bus till he is like 7-8 years old, before I dont feel comfortable.

If you go self catering you can get apartments for around 100 euros, you may not get the facilities, but I think that even at the big hotels you have to rent a car to go to the nicest beaches as they are public. Food in Seychelles in general is not good and expensive, if you can cook it may be better. Check the B&B recommended at Trip advisor, and email them.

I recommend you http://www.trustyguides.com/potty-training3.html and www.pottytime.com you can download the app for ipad or iphone Potty train takes time and patience, one day they may not do anything and next day suddenly they do. It is not like they are not ready, like everything in life you cannot give up as soon as you find trouble. The earlier you potty train the better. <em>edited by imolinar on 19/11/2013</em>

So, I put a comment on her album saying that my invitation had probably got lost, and some other people put other comments. She replied saying, "thanks for the comments, it was a great party, but unfortunately we could not invite everyone, next time". So, it looks like she has a lot of people to invite and that is ok for me, I dont expect people not to have other friends, but we are part of a small group and everyone else got invited. Also, she keeps saying we are a family, and even invited us to ther son's wedding back home because she told us we are close friends, so I guess we are no close friends after all, and I still think it was rude not to invite us....Good to know we were stand.....and move on....

I think i'd want to know if I really was excluded and if so why....but difficult to find out without coming across as needy...maybe a casual comment about the photos ? pick one member of the group who you feel most comfortable with and mention that you've seen the photos...if they'd wanted to exclude you that badly they'd have blocked you from seeing them !! It could just turn out to be a misunderstanding... Hope you get to the bottom of it and enjoy the next do. I think i will follow your advice, i dont like to look like needy

This lady always says we are like family, and we are always invited for everything, of course there is the occasional meeting between people that does involve Every one which i find ok, even in some occasion we went back home at the same time and she invited us to her son's wedding, which we went, however, she did not showed up or apologized for not going to my son's baptism. This was a big party, they even prepared some traditional food which i would have liked to eat as it is hard to cook it, actually my favorite dish which they know.. <em>edited by imolinar on 20/07/2013</em>

We just met last week for this birthday party, and she even told me she will be planning the baby shower for the other lady and it will be next saturday, that's why i dont think i did something wrong. Also, they had a lot of people in the party, they did not invite a few ones, all from my home country. I dont know if they think i am not patriotic enough, or they did not want any people from another country. Whatever the case, i think we should have been invited, and dont feel like talking to her, i dont even think i will go to the baby shower. <em>edited by imolinar on 20/07/2013</em>
