I toured Teddy Bear and I love it, but it is american curriculum, dont know if curriculums really matter at this stage. There are lots of nurseries having open house these days. Try to go, Kids Academy is having a few, check their website.

In Abu Dhabi, the minimum that I was asked was 2500 dhs up to 3500 dhs to cover for accommodation and transportation costs.

Could you please give me tips when travelling with toddlers. We used to travel a lot before the baby, and even after he was born we took him at 8 months to Austria, 13 months to Sri Lanka, and 15 months back to South America to meet the family, and last week at 18 months to Seychelles. Four continents in 18 months. Before Seychelles, I had not complain, it was not quite the same as before but I found manageable, but in Seychelles, I was finding the trip a bit challenging even though it was a relax holiday, I don’t know if the heat and sun affected him but he was restless, he likes to walk and explore a lot which means taking his own route, so we have to keep chasing him, did not want to eat much, only wanted to be in the sea, crying a lot, etc. I felt like it was a lot of work, so I am seriously thinking where to go next for holidays in September when he turns 2 as going home is too far, so we will not go this year. Most people would advise against travelling, but we live so far from home and I would get nuts staying here, also I will need a break from work so traveling abroad is the only choice. Tell me how you manage with a very active toddler, what type of places do you go for a holiday?.

the zoo is a joke if you care about animals. People feeding pop corn to monkeys and spoon feeding coffee to the jirafes, and nobody around to tell them anything...

my baby used to be very fussy at that time also. One day I got tired, put him in a baby carrier went to the park for a walk, and suddenly no crying any more. Also, why dont you try carrying him in a carrier around the house, sometimes they just want to be held while you walk, sitting does not work.

I have an ameda pump double which is similar to Medela if not better and cheaper, and it costs 700-800 dhs. I think the medela cost around 1200 dhs on sale. Baby monitor, I got the angel one, basic, in Toys are us, on sale for almost the same price as in USA,

I read that Nivea Cellulite (something like that) cream helps, dont know if it is true but it costs only 30 dhs. BTW, most of people in this planet have it, Kim Kardashian, Reese witherspoon, etc also have.

the problem with the young lady is that she has young children that she may miss and after being here for 2 years the chances of her wanted to go back after one year are high. It happened to my friend, the maid decided to go back after 1 year, so again she has to look for another maid again. You have to make sure the maid is commited for 2-3 years.

Hotel Sigiriya is nice, it is a 3 star but it is enough and next to the Sigiriya rock, there are not many hotels in the area. We did the elephant ride is Sigiriya as well, it costs us 20 US per person for 45 minutes.

they only take daman, but with the other companies you pay, fill the form and then get reimbursed, you have to call the insurance company to get the details. My baby was never away from me, they wash him in front of you, I was very tired and he was crying a lot and nobody took him ever, maybe it is different if the baby has problems otherwise they never take him. Breastfeeding can be tough, so you never know if you will be successful or not.

Check with your insurance company regarding government hospitals coverage. At first, I thought my insurance did not cover, but they did. However, I had to pay and then got reimbursed. I would try to deliver at corniche over any other hospital, if there is a complication with the baby at any other hospital they will send you to corniche but you can be on stand-by if they have no space as they give priority to women that give birth there. At corniche hospital, the possibilities of a baby switch are very low. From the moment the baby is born, even thru cesarean the baby is giving to you and you are never apart. They give tags to both mum and baby and if they are apart more than some distance the alarm rings, also if the baby leaves some area the alarm rings. I dont think they can ever been switched or stolen. Another advantage of corniche is that they have a free lactation clinic for women that deliver there, although I prefer la Leche League, the ladies even come to your home to help and seem more knowledgeable. best of luck!

my situation was similar to yours, I tried to exercise at 6 months but I would feel like something was moving inside. I started to exercise properly at 8 months I think, at 11 months I started circuit training, and now at 12 months had just gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I still have a bit of lose skin, but feeling much better. Give it some time....exercise light and eat right.

I need to fill my annual leave for next year for work so I am planning where to go. We have a 1 year old boy very active, he already runs , and would like to go to South Africa next year, mainly capetown, garden route, Port Elizabeth, etc, these are some ideas. So, when is the best time to visit?, is it a good idea to go there with a toddler?, are there lots of activities so my boy does not get bored. We are not expecting to go for safaris or anything but is there any park where we can see animals, what about ADO park?. Any ideas, comments, suggestions?. Thank you.

I had to pay 600 dhs for may maid's connecting flight. She is coming back so I cannot risk not paying for it. 300 dhs is not much for you but it is lots for her, so why not.

next time someone says something like that, just ignore them... A tip for anyone travelling with little ones; if you're worried your LO might play up about being on your lap in the seat belt (if under 2) or having to sit on a separate chair in a seat belt (if over 2) or any of those other rules that can set kids off, have a quiet word with a flight attendant before take-off. Ask them to tell your LO that they're in charge (the uniform works wonders) and that they must put their seatbelt on or whatever the issue might be. I find that children at a quite young age will listen to someone who appears to be in charge and will do what they're told by them rather more readily than what their mother tells them. If you sort out whatever the issue might be before take-off, they tend to behave much better for the whole flight, to the extent that they will hassle you to get your seat belt on the moment the sign goes on. I doubt my 1-year old baby would actually listen to anyone including me!!!, he is so loud and wants to walk all the time, I am scared of my 20+ hour flight back home for christmas.

I have gone to restaurants where big kids are running around and disturbing people and the manager says nothing, so I would be very upset if someone came to me and complain about my toddler which is not acting loud.

My baby has always waken up at night but a few weeks ago stopped as I started to give him more food and cereal before sleeping (he would sleep 8 pm till 5 am), but last week he started to walk and is now waking up 2-3 times at night, and I have to nurse him to get him back to sleep. He goes to sleep at 8 pm and yesterday woke up at 11 pm, I tried to ignore him and told him to sleep many times raising my voice as I was very upset and let him cry but he cried so loud that I ended up picking him, he kept crying so much even after that ( I guess he was very upset because I shouted at him), I breastfed him and finally got back to sleep. Two nights ago, he woke up at 2 am, and couldnt get back to sleep till 3 am. He is sleeping 2-3 hours during the day. I dont know what to do?. I dont know if he is not getting enough food during the day?, how do I know?. All the kids I know at this age sleep thru the night, I work and I need to be focused at work. What could be the cause?
