Been to all three places. I somewhat had the feeling that Paris is a bit overrated. I liked Rome a lot more. Paris lovers please don't hate me for this:) I agree :) agree, and so expensive

Yes, the ameda pump is really easy to use and sterilise, I actually like that I have less spills than when I used the Medela. This is the email of the distributor shaibame@eim.ae

I am also introducing solids to my baby now, and I dont think you need a special food processor, any good processor is fine, you can even mash the food yourself with a fork. Or, am I missing something?

I bought the AMEDA one. I think the mods deleted the post. Anyway, it is cheap and as good as the Medela, only 700 dhs from the distributor in Dubai. I got one in October and had heavily used till today, still going strong.

My 5 1/2 old baby does not drink his milk when we are outside the house. I take express milk to feed but he barely drinks anything, breastfeeding is out of question, he wont do it unless lying down on the bed. We only take him out on fridays but he can go the whole afternoon with half a bottle only. What to do???. I hate to go out with him because of that, sometimes I just rush home because of this. DH and I really need some day off as a family as it is my husband's only day out and I also work.

I had a baby 5 months ago thru emergency c-session (after a traumatic labour), I also got bell's palsy 2 days before delivery and I am still trying to recover. My baby has always been a high spirit baby since born so I havent sleep for more than 4 hours stright since delivery. I am supposed to rest and sleep so I can recover properly from my bell's palsy. I had lots of problems breasfeeding which made more stressed, plus I am working full time. I feel I need a short break 2-3 days, not far, and including baby and husband, any ideas on what to do. I live in AD. I ruled out Fujairah since I dont think it is a good idea to go for a beach holiday with a baby ( too much sun, cannot go to the sea or pool with him for long time). Any suggestions?. We are going for holidays in May to Europe for a week, but I think I need a break before then. edited by imolinar on 06/03/2012

I have a 5 month old baby, his weight is around 7.5 Kgs. I put him to sleep at 8 pm and wakes up at 7 am for changing. He wakes up in between fro BF but I dont change the diaper because it disturbs his and my sleep. Up to 2 weeks ago was fine, but now almost every night his diaper leaks, there is a lot of pee, maybe he is peeing more than before. I used huggies diapers. What should I do?. Thank you

Your maid will get used to it. My maid used to make me nuts trying to care of my baby at all times even when I was holding him she wanted to take over. I just told her a few times and now she only helps with the baby when I ask or when I am not home. The thing is that for many people the maid does everything, you have to teach her and tell her to relax and enjoy she does not need to work so hard.

commuting is not allowed as per HSE policy, also the fields are far away and it can be dangerous doing the commute every day. You will rent a flat in the city and come to see your family during your time off. The accommodation in the field is just a room for yourself, no family allowed.

I work for that company but I am Abu Dhabi based. If you are in the field you will have to stay there no commuting allowed. You will have a cycle of 5-2 or 6-2. That means 5 days of work in the field and 2 off. You could live anywhere in AD.

Emanuela, I like your routine, but I cannot leave my baby without milk for more than 3 hours, he gets hungry. How do prepare the little rice with milk (home made) abt. 1 spoon?. I am thinking of starting slowly introducing some solids.

My 4 1/2 old baby still takes 5 oz milk (breastmilk/formula) 6 times per day (nothing else), and he is very healthy, no chubby, no skinny. I put him to sleep at 8 pm max 9 pm. That is the natural sleep cycle for babies, if you put them to sleep later they will be overtired and wont sleep, also you need to make sure you baby naps 3-4 hours during the day. Letting her sleep at 5:30 is not a good idea, it is too late for a nap. Also, you may be overfeeding your baby, if she does not want dont force her to drink, she may not be ready for solids yet either.

We are thinking of going to Jordan for 5 days in March with our 6 month old baby. We are thinking of having a private driver. I wonder if it is a good idea?. We have a baby bjorn but I wonder if we would be able to carry the baby for long time visiting the sites. Is it stroller friendly?. Thinking of going to Amman, Jerash, dead sea, Petra and Aqqba as per the private tour I checked on internet. Any feedback?. Thank you

We are thinking of going to London in May for a week for holidays. We will be taking the bus/tube. Our baby will be 8 months old then. We have a Quinny Zap Xtra. How easy or difficult is it to move around with a stroller?. Or should we postpone the trip till the baby is a child?. Thank you

My baby is 4 months and has reflux, the doctor told me to start giving solids to see if it may help. You are supposed to start giving a spoon, in the morning per day. Dont know when you are supposed to increase. You continue the normal BF, the spoon is also supposed to help the baby getting used to food. I havent started yet, but I think I may start soon with a spoon of smash banana in the mornings and see what happens. The things is that I dont think my baby is ready yet. Back home, babies start with solids very early, I was giving soups when I was a month old and I am very healthy and no allergies.

I was in your same situation and I decided a live in nanny was the best. They may not have a degree but I dont think many of the ladies working at a nursery have one either. I found a nanny thru reference and within a week she was trained to take care of my baby. Try to find a nanny/maid that is late 30's -40's and with children. Mine is 38 and already a grand-mother. She even wakes up with me at 2 am to feed the baby while a pump ( I dont ask her but she does). I also wanted to put my baby in a nursery, and I went to visit some, but I was not convinced. My baby needs lots of attention and I dont think they will entertain him as much, and I dont like to keep driving around with him as drivers are crazy here! edited by imolinar on 03/01/2012

what he meant was that the ID is not needed for visa process, after the visa is processed we will need to apply. I went to the typing center and they could not process the ID application without a visa.

Hello Children under a certain age do not require one ( I am sure i read that somewhere) Now everyone needs one.. I thought my 7 year old child didnt need one and I was told by the typist and I quote " even a 3 day old baby needs one" !!!!!!!! This was last month and the typist was in Al barsha 3 doors away from the Ramada Chelsea Hotel ! that's what the PRO told me but then I went to the ID office and they say they cannot do it without a visa

I agree about not giving her clothes or even toys and she will get tons. I think baby books (for the baby) and music are nice. Other good presents are: humidifier, nursing cover, mobile for the crib, play gym, swing/rocker, bath time set.

I had a similar problem with my 4 weeks old baby. I went to the lactation consultant to realize the baby didnt put on weight for a week, the baby was starving, it is really hard to tell how much they eat when u breastfeed. Please check this. I felt so awful, but now that i am fixing the problem he and I are happier and doing much better.

I think Winnipeg is a good place for families, for bachelors is way too boring. I went to university there and even met my husband. I ahd very good memories. The city is very affordable and small, but I also heard the crime rates are high but compared to many other countries is fine, there are some areas that are not that great. As someone said the area close to St Vital mall and University of Manitoba are nice. The big problem is the extremely cold and windy winters and then in the summer it is humid and hot and you will see mosquitos like never before in your life.
