This thread has taken an interesting turn. Last night a couple British friends and family, deleted me off Facebook, cause I was in a celebratory mood. They had status updates like how ridiculous it was for the tax payers to be paying £900 for the event. It's interesting to hear the other side as well. <em>edited by Irooni on 04/06/2012</em>

Well, you've convinced me. I will buy this brand. Although my family tend to eat Arabic bread only, I sometimes like to eat toast or make grilled cheese sandwiches so your recommendation is good to know. It's only a good option if Spinneys is not around. It's the best you can find in your local neighbourhood stores. The kind that will deliver 1 can of Pepsi!:)

Sorry E, hope I don't offend you. But I don't like the Arabic bread very much:( My favourite bread is Iranian bread, they make in klins that you find in satwa and deira. But for children's sandwiches for school, I always use sliced. Irooni, Do you know the name of the Iranian Bread shop/bakery in Satwa or Deira, I googled and couldn't find it. Only saw a video of this Afghani one in Satwa http://vimeo.com/9974335 edited by Alismum on 03/06/2012 Alismum, we should really go out Persian grocery shopping on day:) the bread in the video clip you posted is Iranian bread. The bakers are afghani. This is the sort of bread we call "taftoon". You can get "sangak" fom the Abshar restaurants. "lavash" is available fresh in satwa and packaged in jumeirah union co op. You can get the "taftoon" like the one in the video from the afghani bakery in satwa. Coming down dhiyafa from jumeirah towards trade centre, you take a right on to satwa. You then take the first possible right turn and the bakery is opposite a grocery store on your left. "Lavash" is available right next to ravi's in satwa. HTH

I sometimes wonder what all these non seatbelt wearers who do not put their kids in car seats do when they go on vacation to Europe or the USA. Many of them rent cars. I know that in the USA, you can be arrested for not putting your child in a car seat. Just wondering... In British Columbia, Canada, child services will take the child until you purchase a child's seat. Then you have a zillion papers to sign and what not, before you can get the child back. I think in the UK they wont let you take your child out of the maternity unit until they know you have a car seat fitted Yes, the same applies in Canada.

Buckle up in the back, has placed some cardboard figures from freej around the school that reads " you need to be in a booster seat, if you can walk under my hand". The other day I saw a little boy stand under it and say "mummy look, I need a booster seat". Mum's response: oh that company behind these talks should be giving out free seats with their presentations, cause I am not paying for one"! :\: What can you do? The parents clearly need educating before the children.. What can the poor kids do with an attitude like that from their parents? It is still not poor parenting, it is poor education. RedLesley, again, I salute you. Is there a Jimmy Savile equivalent we can get to go on all TV stations here and do a "Clunk-Click" campaign? Surely the PTB are in favour of this kind of education of all their subjects? Anybody got the right contacts? The use of the word "company" really annoyed me. Making it sound like its some huge corporation racking in profits from this,

am no expert but it's my understanding that Arabs think about this differently - they have the mentality that "what will be will be", so if G0d says it's time for the baby to fly through the windscreen then sobeit...i believe that's the reason they give..but the antedote to that is that just because you put your faith in your god you should still take steps to prevent these things from happening if you can..there's a story about a tiger that i can't remember but explains it better than i can... Caliph/Iman Ali said: tie your camel securely somewhere THEN leave it to god!

Kat does look elegant but I think she should have chosen something (at least color) more understated for the occasion - it's not her party! I thought it was just me being a grumpy old woman...........glad to see someone else thinking the same. Just a tad too pushy to be a lady, let alone a future queen. I agree, she does come across as a tad full-of-ones-self now, I quite liked her in the beginning as she did seem quite 'normal' but I feel she's now likes to be too much the star of the show and doesn't want to give someone else a go, even the Queen! And she's always got that grin...... It's hard to be humble in her case. She is elegant, graceful, beautiful and of all the girls in the world king to be, chose her! I love her:)
