Am I the only one who has never eaten a McD? When I have the choice of no food all day or junk I choose hunger. I haven't had it in about 18 years. We stopped it as a family July, although it was only a happy meal every coupe of months. January 16, we will be fast food and processed meats free family for 6 months! Yeayyyyy :)

I really doubt pizza hut is as bad as McDonalds, but I my be wrong. http://www.sparkpeople.com/food_vs_food.asp?food=110_206_mcdonalds-hamburger_versus_pizza-hut-personal-pan-cheese-pizza I doubt someone would just eat one hamburger for a meal though? More likely to have a burger and fries? Plus, it's also the quality of the ingredients that's my concern, not just calorie and fat content.

I know I am going to get shot down for this but nothing like Clorox bleach with steaming hot water and a dash of eucalyptus for good aroma. Why would you get shot down for this? I do this for bathrooms and the kitchen... hadn't thought about adding eucalyptus though! Many people are against using bleach

I used to live in an apartment where the floor tiles were bright white and very very smooth .. almost like glass. Beautiful to look at but a right pain to keep clean. when I took on my houseboy he used to Brush the floor first, then mop but he didnt wring the mop, it was always dripping with water, he would then take a wiper and remove all the excess water which was dark in colour even after brushing ! it wouldnt take long to dry as the wiper has done the work. He would then use those buffers. I got it from Carrefour, the one with the swivel and they use them in all the malls and he would then use that all over . Every day? *fainting at the thought* Or is this why everyone has helpers? lol I don't have a helper and I sweep and mop twice a day. sometimes I sweep more than twice a day

I am changing things around in the house. I have an idea that looks nice in my head but I am too scared to implement. I thinking of wallpaper that looks like this on one wall. http://www.google.co.uk/search?um=1&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=d&biw=1024&bih=644&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=brown+and+torquise+wallpaper&oq=brown+and+torquise+wallpaper&gs_l=img.12...282792.289814.0.291095.16.15.1.0.0.0.529.2496.0j1j5j2j0j1.9.0...0.0...1ac.1.M9hpWsxMxjI#biv=i|6;d|S8dv4WNkp3_hPM: Turqoise paint on one wall and brown on the rest. Brown curtains. White leather sofas accessorised with the theme colour throws and cushions. What do you think?

I hear you about wanting to avoid Dragon Mart, but I have to tell you that I have just finished a very long process of puchasing over 25 pairs of curtains (over a 3 month period of time) for our new home. If you are willing to put the time to look, I have found some really acceptable quality curtain fabrics and have saved an absolute fortune. There were two rooms that I had a hard time finding for because I wanted a darker blue print of which Dragon Mart really had nothing. To find something outside Dragon Mart, I priced them out at three different places and the cheapest I could get 5 windows outside was 1,800 and in an inferior fabric (although blue) than what I could find at Dragon Mart. The other estimates were 2,400 and the other 3,600. For these same 5 windows, I got double the fabric as I purchaesed the actual panels and not by yard instead of the minimum "sized and priced for each window" , had them lined for 1,400 Dhs. total.. That's 280 Dhs. per window, and each window was almost 1.5 meters wide. Even if money was not really an issue, I would still chose those I bought over the pricier ones I was quoted outside as they was not that much difference in weight and style. For the sake of pricing, I did check places at Home Center and Ikea for ready made and, even with their sales, I feel I got a much more fabric for my money. I can't comment on the hardwood floors, but I have purchased wallpaper and installed myself as well -- no problems from Dragon Mart. This is just my two cents. Because I have now spent so much time out there, I just feel that Dragon Mart can't be beat if you put the time in. I don't mind the fabric at dragon mart, I just want custom made curtains that will be measured and I installed professionally.

Hi Irooni - don't know if you remember but my DH used to be at Ghantoot. For years we have been using a guy called Rafi to make our curtains for various villas and apartments. His English isn't wonderful but it's OK, and If you use him, make sure you barter hard !! Tell him our DD Kate recommended you use him. For wallpaper, if you buy from Danube at F.City and spend over a certain amount, they will come and hang it for free. For hardwood/laminate, try Albert Douglas who owns a company called Alomi (they are in DIP near to where DH works and will supply and fit) telephone 04 884 8460. Yes I remember :) I will look them up thanks very much x

The only cake maker in dubai who could have topped nedas cakes http://www.facebook.com/NedasCakes?ref=ts&fref=ts was Nukus, and she is no longer here. So she is definitely the number one you find here for theme cakes. Her precision and finese is amazing. The cartoon characters she makes from Fondant are more real looking than plastic manufactured toys! Have a look at the page I posted you will be amazed.

I bet no one can beat my family when it comes to requesting gifts. Hermes perfumes, branded trainers, 100% leather shoes with leather soles(!),XBox, top of the line cordless phones, winter coats, suits..... I love them all to bits but I would die before I make such requests to anyone!
