I would never ever consider going back to Medcare for anything let alone for my next pregnancy. I had a horrid experience and if you want to know more in detail send me your email address and I can email you.

I have, and would've happliy helped you out AGAIN (like I helped you out with the Colief & Infant Gaviscon) however... I've text your husband twice and mailed you once to find out how you guys are getting on and no reply :\: I'm all for helping out strangers and will go out of my way if I can, but a simple reply would've been nice too!? I'm actually really worried about you (gathering by your frantic/desperate threads on EW). Re: the expired Woodwards - I would not use it. I have 3 bottle which expired in June, and just received a new stash from SA. the is a distinctive change in colour from the expired bottles and the bottles I just received. Clearly the composition has changed. I am also still waiting for a response to my offer after repeated follow up. Although reading your response indicates that I need to just get rid of the expired bottle No thank you.

So is all gripe water impossible to find out here or just the woodwards one? I wonder if there is any other type of gripe water that I may actually find here.

I'm near AR That would be amazing but is it ok to use after its expired? Please let me know how much and when I can send DH over! =)

Seems to be out of stock all over Dubai. Has anyone seen it anywhere? Having tried 101 different things now courtesy of the lovely ladies on EW I'm going back to the basics hoping good old gripe water may help as it did when I was a baby. PLEASE let me know if you've seen it around lately as I'm having no luck calling round...

I'm slightly confused as the reflux may not be getting cured because the medication is being given wrong. Our initial paed said 0.7ml zantac 2 times a day between feeds and motillium 0.7ml 15 mins before every feed but our current paed has said zantac 2 times a day between feeds and 0.7ml motillium ONLY 3 times a day? How is motillium and colic aid generally taken?

I really think its "colic" not in the sense of gastric pain but in terms of unsettled/high needs baby, it will probably peak at 6 weeks and then slowly get better from that point, get yourself live in help, you'll get through it but really hard to do it alone. Probiotics and daylight might help but truthfully, if its "colic" then really only time will help. Soothe as best you can, if rocking helps then buy one of those motorised rockers. Don't worry about creating bad habits, you need to do what you can to get through this. Are the following symptoms of colic or AR 1. Rejecting feed 2. Screaming in pain for hours after feed 3. Aggressive leg thrashing 4. Purple in the face 5. Severe back arching and crying 6. Makes sounds of pain all day while awake and sleeping 7. Frequent strong hiccups 8. Spitting up feed 9. Comfort sucking but feeding very little

We saw Dr Khan who put us on Zantac 0.7ml twice daily, baby gaviscon and Aptimil AR but DS hated the thick formula so were back to Similac LF. Everyday hes getting worse and worse. I seriously cant take it anymore. Hes crying and screaming all day and nobody can do anything for him =((

We just met Dr Khan who was lovely. Advised to get off motilium, start zantac 0.6ml twice daily and infant gaviscon with Aptimal AR. Fingers crossed ladies. Now we just need to somehow get hold of infant gaviscon ASAP. DH is back at work tomorrow and I'm really worried about his work also getting affected if this continues. Does anybody have a few sachets they dont mind parting with till I can somehow arrange for some from UK? edited by JBR_Mummy on 25/08/2012

Thank you everyone it really helps to know your not alone in time like this as we really never expected any of this. Our current paed has advsed Novalac AR along with 1ml of zantac 3 times a day and motillium 15 mins before every feed. Does anybody have experience of this combo? I was hoping to keep him on the similac lactose free and not move to a thick AR formula because he isnt actually vomiting all his feeds. Its all the other symptoms which are a pain. edited by JBR_Mummy on 25/08/2012

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a hard time! Sounds like your bub is not feeling so well at night :( -- We had a midwife come to our place a few weeks after delivery and this helped a ton in knowing what to do with our little one and to understand why he wasn't feeling well (he had silent reflux). Perhaps, you could look into someone coming to visit you at home? In the meantime -- although I know it's hard do try to find some time for yourself for a shower , sleep or perhaps even a walk outside? Can you leave the baby for a short time with dad or another relative or friend? One thing that helped us considerably with our newborn was putting him in a front carrier for a lot of the day -- unfortunately it doesn't help you get any sleep, but it does often ease the new born's pain/crying/etc. I'm pretty sure I spent the first couple of months with our baby in the front carrier or asleep on my chest in the rocking chair -- I do remember it being really hard then, but now (with a 6 month old) I look back on the time fondly and miss all those wonderful snuggles! Goodluck and take care of yourself! Thanks for your support and the idea of getting a midwife. I'm going to check this now. We could really do with just an understanding ear right now seen as all the peads weve seen have been so useless and told us to basically in other words just deal with it. Is there a midwife you would reccomend?

I had the same problem with my DS we were on similac too. After a few weeks i decided to change formula to NAN he was a different baby slept right through the night and hardly cried he was happy and content.I would suggest changing formula and see if that helps it certainly did for us !! Sydneygirl I'm really struggling right now. Did your DS also have some sort of colic/AR problem? What NAN did you switch to?

Life Pharmacy JBR have Aptimil LF and they deliver if that helps. 04 4281432 Thanks. DH went down there earlier and saw it there but were currently on similac and hoping to stay on it just to change over to lactose free in a desperate hope that it help ds's colic/reflux rather than change the entire brand

You can save a bomb by just taking your kids to the govt clinics who offer all the vaccinations for free! Just get them a Govt health card by registering them (go to the www.dha.gov.ae for guidance or call 800 342)..they will then assign you a clinic to visit according to which area you live in..you can then make an appt and take your kid there. I took my son for his 4 month vaccinations at mamzar clinic..perfectly lovely..modern and clean...nice nurse..no rush at all..and best of al - FREE! Thank goodness - at least SOMETHING is free in this country :) Just to add, you need to have a residence visa to get a govt health card edited by Ayda247 on 21/08/2012 Thank you! I'm going to register him straight away! Most insurance companies dont cover the vaccinations. I'm with daman and its not covered.

Hi flower33! How are you and hows your LO? DS arrived on the 14th. Slightly lower weight of 2.7 kilos and some jaundice but hes feeding well so were hoping all will be well very soon inshallah. Hes feeding every hour so I guess he knows he needs to pick up on his weight! I guess you can tell feeding every hour means mummy hasnt slept more than an hour or two since the birth! Its all worth it for him to get nice and plump though lol Would love to hear your birth story hun!

Ladies were just in the process of applying for DS's passport. We dont have the time to send our form and passport photos to UK for counter signatory so we have read on the guidance notes that it can be someone who is not British if were not currently residing there but the problem is I dont know anyone suitable here since the last 2 years for this. What have you ladies done if you've been here less than 2 years and dont have the time to send everything back to UK for signatures?

Hi ladies, Thank you all for your replies. I'm now booking a consultation with a well reccomended pediatrician so hopefully we can get a solution to all this. His weight is currently 2.7 kilos, hes 1 week old and he has a 10.5 of jaundice as well. I bought the Aptimal AR today but it was so thick it wouldnt come out the avent teat for DS to drink??? Any advise on this? edited by JBR_Mummy on 20/08/2012
