Advertised on Virgin Radio 104.4... on their Twitter account.. don't know what else to do.. asked them to post on their station for Shanna... just praying she is in Doggie Heaven and not suffering somewhere.. a very sad start to 2013! I am so sorry for not making sure she was safe... so very sad and distressed... the images that fill my head are not good.. Have to stop before I drive myself crazy.... Thank you for your thoughts, help and support... a big lesson learnt!! xxxx

Hi ladies, thanks for all your support. Still nothing today.. Put posters on bus shelters and dumpsters today, still nothing. Went to the municipality but the only dogs they had were a German Shepherd and a Labrador... feel so sad for those doggies. My husband is going back tomorrow as I can't bear going there.... I know they aren't very helpful, we have given them her picture and phoned the 800 number with her microchip number etc. Wednesday Genius thank you for your msg, and sorry I didn't reply, I will tomorrow, I was just so down today! Please keep looking for our Shanna.... many people we have asked on the street saw her picture in the 7 Days yesterday so we have done everything we can... except make sure she couldn't get out the gate!! So sad......

Yes.. we have knocked and walked.. put fliers up everywhere... I just don't think she could have survived the stress of disorientation... heart failure which she had or not knowing where home was.. walked all around Mirdif on both sides, in the sand and through villa areas in our area... don't know what else to do? Stopped gardeners on their bikes, maids walking, neighbours... the paper, FB groups? Don't want to give up but hoping and praying wherever Shanna is, is a good place without fear.. Thank you so much for your reply..

Thank you.. hope to meet you one day... our little Shanna was my shadow for 14 years.. someone comes to visit and the gate gets left open and now she is gone..

Thank you!!! Nothing...no calls...nothing... so heartbroken... 3 countries and 14 years old and someone left our gate open!! Such a horrible thing to happen... Shanna was such a beautiful little girl... such a bad heart and she would have been so distressed! A mistake not by me but by someone staying with us... I don't know what could have happened to her. We have walked the streets, driven for hours, walked for hours. She was my shadow... I just feel so terrible... Thank you for caring! xxxx

Hi just seen your post. My maids cousin has just arrived here in Dubai on a visit visa and he came to see us today. For a trial he did our garden, cut our hedges and did a great tidy up. He loves dogs and is happy to do anything you ask of him... car cleaning, playing with the children, helping out with the housework or anything else. He is very young and very nice. He is Sri Lankan and he is really trying very hard to find a job. Not sure if you are willing to give him a try. Please email me on gary2011@eim.ae and I can give you his number. I will not say where but I went into a pet shop today to enquire about grooming. There I found the grooming salon and also many puppies and kittens for sale! There was a beautiful persian kitten for sale with no water in the bowl in her cage! So I very nicely told them that they should fill up the water bowl... I told them that animals need water like we do! We can do without food but not water and they looked at me as if I were stupid... I angrily told them that I would certainly not be bringing my doggies there for grooming! There was a toy pom and a husky and another pup... all puppies all in the same area for sale ranging from Aed 8500 to Aed 9500! Kittens from Aed2500! Makes me so mad!!! Oh and I did make sure they filled up the water bowl....I will be going in to check from now on! Makes me sick!!!!

Yes we do sponsor our maid and pay for her accomodation, as well as giving her a ticket home every year. We are moving in a few months to a villa which will have a room for her so I will probably have to decrease her salary...not too sure how that will go! It is all legal! She does not work for anyone else as that is illegal! <em>edited by Jetset on 13/09/2012</em>

Hi, yes we have a full time sponsored maid who does not live in. We pay her Aed3000 a month which includes her accomodation and transport. Plus we pay extra for her toiletries when she needs them and medical etc. She only works 5 days a week for about 5 hours a day so she is very happy with her job. It works out to be quite a lot more than we would pay her if she lived in. Hope you work something out.

Our last little girl was collected this evening! They have called her Shisha... They are jetlagged and live in Abu Dhabi with 2 little girls, but they still made their way to Mirdif after only arriving back in Dubai yesterday. I just am overwhelmed by the kindness of people and the 4 amazing homes that have taken our 5 kitties. Born on the 1st June on our doorstep and have all found more than loving, lucky homes by the 1st September! Thank you all so very much!

Thank you! I call the new moms every few days to make sure they are okay and settled, and they send me photos! You cannot believe how chuffed I am!! Just sooooo happy!!!! These little kitties have found the best homes ever!!!

I'm back so very happily to say that 4 of our kitties have been adopted by 3 wonderful families! 2 of them went together today to the same home which has totally made my day! We are so eternally grateful to know they have gone to loving forever homes. Our last little girl is hopefully being collected on Sunday. Just want to thank you all, and you know who you are for taking these little ones and giving them a forever home. Just got to look after mom now who is still inside and longing to go out. Thank you!

Another bump! Our kitties are still here looking for homes. So adorable, healthy and happy and have been inside being well cared for with their mom for 11 weeks! All vaccinated and loved and looked after. 2 little girls and 1 boy still to find homes for! Please... they will make very special pets! Born in the heat on June 1 and been inside, loved and looked after ever since!

Big bump! Hi still trying to find homes for 3 kitties, 2 females and 1 male. Is there anyone who can help me by fostering these little ones for 2 weeks, as I have a houseful of family and friends arriving next week until the 6th September. They have all had their first vaccinations and are very healthy and happy! We are taking mommy cat to be sterilized tomorrow. Please please can anyone help. Many thanks!!

My son had it many many years ago. I was quite stressed about it as it just appeared and there were more and more. I used to put gentian violet on the whole area every night after bath time which seemed to help dry them up, and eventually after many months they all just went. They do go away so don't worry.

I love my E gate card!! Arrived back in Dubai after a 14 hours flight at 4.30am this morning, looked at the big immigration line and sailed through with my E gate card within less than a minute, new passport and all!! Just marvellous after a long flight and very easy to get, so well worth it!!!

Hi all! Bumping up my post! Back from holiday and have so happily found a home for one of our kitties. I am so grateful for one home!! He is being collected on Friday. We have 4 other kittens, 1 male and 3 females that I need to find homes for. They are 9 weeks old now and I can't keep them inside our spare room for much longer. Please please is there anyone out there that can help me with adoption. I have family arriving in 2 weeks... and these little ones and there mom are growing and need to be let out!! Please help!!!!

Our very much loved African Grey was blown away in a gust of wind this afternoon and flew over our wall in Garhoud. He is tame, very chatty (but will be scared out his wits) and ringed. His name is Max. Grey with a short red feathered tail. Please if you hear him, or know of someone who has found a grey parrot, please let me know. We are so worried as its cold and windy and he's never been lost before. Our friends lost their African Grey a while ago! Does this sound like it might be the same one. I can get in contact with her if you think it is. She is away but her husband is here in Dubai.

They are "house kitties" now and so friendly and very sweet! So excited to have a reply from someone, thanks so much! They are 5 weeks old today and have been in our spare bedroom with mom since they were born, so will be very happy as house cats. Please email me at gary2011@eim.ae and I will send you some photos. We are looking for a forever home for these 5 kitties. Not now but in about 4 weeks when they are ready to leave their mom. I will have my maid here to look after my 3 very old doggies while we are away but we can't keep them all forever. They are so sweet and used to us and so playful and loving. I am trying to find homes for them before we leave as as soon I get back at the end of July we have family coming to stay and I can't even imagine what that bedroom is going to look like! They all have personalities and are so sweet. I just can't put them outside! I was hoping I could find someone to take over from me for the summer, but I guess that's not possible. I will try to post some photos of them here tonight. Thank you so much for your replies!

Our 5 kittens are almost 4 weeks old and just adorable. They have found their little legs and are so sweet. I will keep posting as we are going away in 2 weeks and have no idea where I am going to find homes for them in August. They are used to me and not like stray kittens as they have been in our spare bedroom/bathroom since I found them as brand new kittens on our doorstep.Even their mom has turned into such a sweet cat. Please is there anyone out there who can give them a home? There must be someone!

This is so cruel!! That poor little kitty without it's mom! I have 5 kittens of 3 weeks old plus mom who landed on our doorstep. What I am going to do with them I have no idea. I have never lived in a country and I have lived in 10 where there are so many stray animals especially cats. I just feel so sad for them all and we all help where we can but this situation is never going to end..

If you are going to be living in Mirdif, Welcare Clinic at Uptown Mirdif is open till 9pm and they are wonderful. Dr Ng is a wonderful family Doctor. I have had several emergencies with my DS and DH and cannot speak more highly of the care we have received anytime of the day and night up until 9pm. After that City Hospital is the best place to go. Taxis in the Mirdif area are usually very quick unless it's a Thursday night. As for the heat.... summer is not nice in Dubai with children and most of the time it's exhausting for adults unless you are happy to stay at home (or get into the cool of the Malls so as not to get cabin fever )and if you don't have children that need to be occupied. I don't have small children so it's not so much of a problem. The rest of the year is wonderful! Don't worry about medical facilities in Dubai. The City Hospital is very good. Dubai is a great place to live!

My son had Pilonidal Sinus?? a few years ago in Australia. The surgery leaves a gaping hole which has to heal from the inside out. He had just finished school thank goodness! The healing time takes months and he couldn't even sit on a chair without a ring cushion. We had to go to the Dr's surgery everyday for the first month to have the "wound" cleaned and "packed" and then I had to do it for the next month at home, cleaning the wound with the shower hose and then packing it with sterile gauze. It was very uncomfortable and difficult to do as the wound was very deep. Thank goodness it has not returned!! It is a very difficult condition to deal with and has to be kept clean and sterile for the healing to take place. Good luck!!!

Thank you so much for your reply. Tried to cover the area for the morning sun tomorrow with a big umbrella but that doesn't help much! There are 5 kittens and we have 3 little very old doggies that are terrified to go outside coz mommy kitty is hissing and very angry at anyone who goes near! What a disaster... there is no way for her to move the kittens as the villa walls are too high for her! So no idea what to do next!!
