I got mine at Family Food Centre in Al Rayyan but that was back in 'winter', not sure if they still have them. Hope you find one :)

ccDoha, have a look at airarabia holidays. They do very reasonably priced package holidays and may come up with somewhere you hadn't thought of. We've just done precisely that and are off to Kenya next week :)

Thanks for sharing this with me Stretch19. We're not buying, just renting but I'll definitely now ensure that all maintenance fees are included in our rental! Some scary numbers quoted there!

Ladies, DH and I are hoping to move to The Pearl over next couple of months. However we've heard that the AC costs with Qatar Cool are ridiculously high - can anyone confirm what they pay as residents there? Any other information re living in this area would be very much appreciated :)

Hi Asma, I was at a small event at Doha Rocks Cafe a couple of weeks ago and a Sottish female dj called Laura O'Shea was playing. She was great! I believe she works at QF radio. I've had a look on the net to see if I can find a contact number but no luck. Perhaps you could call Doha Rocks cafe or QF radio to try and connect with her? HTH :)

Saraomar - thanks for your advice! Being Qatar, I knew the possibility of rental was veeery slim and you've confirmed that ;) LadyD - what a generous offer, you are very kind. We don't have flights booked so cant confirm the dates yet but will come back to you as soon as we can. Really do appreciate your generosity :):):):)

Hopekzn, if you are wanting to use this oil on acrylic/gel nails, then you can also use almond oil which i think is quite readily available. Another alternative is Boots own brand nail/cuticle oil. small bottle costs 20 riyals here in Doha so would imagine you'd be able to get it on Dubai for a similar price.

Hello, Heres some information from a previous posting on a similar matter - hope it helps :) You can rent a Fox Limo for the day for QR 300---- I think it's probably the best bet because a)it's what you'd spend on lots of individual taxi rides 2) they know where they're going and 3)if it's a dedicated taxi for the day, you don't have to worry about finding a taxi. +974-4462-2777 Al Muftah rent a car also rents cars with drivers for the day for a similar price. google them online.

K3, thanks for taking the time to comment. Sounds like you have quite a challenge to find gel nails! Salam salon sounds like the answer to your prayers as long as they replace the pregnant lady once she leaves to have her wee baby ;) I've been a very bad nailbiter all my life and was delighted to finally stop after 39 years! i did really well for almost a year but have found myself falling into bad habits again these past few weeks. Am determined to get back on track so unless I start wearing gloves 24/7, gel or acrylic nails is the best option!! I went yesterday morning to wee kiosk place in Landmark that Darinaw suggested - walked in, no appt needed, and got a set of acrylics. Not actually what I asked for (!!) but as I plan to keep them on for just one month I can live with them. Good luck with your gel quest!!!

Catonclan, you asked for some more info on the boat at Diplomatic Club. Small children would be fine on this trip, its a large speed-boat, well equipped with life vests, seating and a section which has cover from the sun. I think the kids would be fine but if you have any doubts then call the Diplomatic Club and ask to speak to the Fitness Club manager. He's a lovely, helpful man who would be delighted to answer your queries.

Kiwispiers, the Corniche area seems to be very popular for picnics. We power walk there each Friday morning and so many families are out having breakfast together, such a nice atmosphere. There is also the large park right across from the Corniche (not sure what it is called, perhaps Al Bida), also an option.

I'd also recommend a boat trip round the coast. We use the Diplomatic Club - QR 250 for a 1 hour trip (thats not per person but in total, which seems pretty good value). Its a very nice to way to spend an hour! You can then follow up with a bite of lunch or dinner on the terrace :o) You can reach them on 4484 7450 or [email protected] edited by Jonners on 14/04/2011 edited by Jonners on 14/04/2011

Hi Chirpy80, To be honest , going through the job websites will get your sister nowhere. My own experience is that companies are really only interested when you are 'on the ground' and want to see you face to face. I'd recommend Clarendon Parker recruitment agency (http://www.cpq.com.qa/). Tell her to make contact and arrange to go and see them to discuss her CV - I found them very helpful. HTH.

Hi Louise, My parents are both in their 70s and got a visa on entry no problem at all when they visited us in November. We used the Al Maha service at the airport and it was a painless process for them, very reassuring to know what someone was taking care of them when they stepped off the plane too. Hope that helps.
