No, that wasnt me, but yes she did look great! She was having a cut in between my colour and cut. I was the lady with short blonde hair. But have to say i was very happy with the end result - i think i will switch!! Who were you seeing?? I was sitting near where kelly and sharon were working, who were having lots of chats with their clients!!

Thought you might be, think i replied to your post on the FS1 assessment! Which class are you in? It is our 2nd year there, i have another DS in fs2. Think they want as much of the costumes home made as possible...though i am not v crafty so resorted to buying part of it! Am gutted as have to go to qatar tomorrow for the day for work, so wont see them all dressed up! Hope you find something

Hi, i think we are fellow FS1 parents at the same school :). We got one from the toy store, and will add some home made bits. You can prob make it a bit as well, it doesnt have to be fancy. Are you new to the school.? My DS is loving this alien theme!

Banks are closed on Saturday according to the UAE central bank circular. Therefore working day as normal on sunday. Am so fed up, kids are off and we have to work. Thought this one was a sure thing as it was in the calendar for monday 4th! :( i just dont get why they changed their minds

Yes apparently it has, but i think they are still having issues on the transfer of land ownership, so they are on hold for now. From what i gather, al barsha is the one they are working on first now

VictoriaM - in the letter i mentioned that was on the communicator, the school have said that work will commence in november for the barsha site. Sorry to hear your DD has taken it badly. Not easy for any of you i'm sure

Humm. Interesting to see how this thread has developed. A couple of points that i know on kings: 1. The khda survey was in the bag pre half term, with your own user name and password. They have also said you can fill it in over the next few days at school, this was v clearly on the communicator so i dont think they are trying to avoid paretns completing it 2. There was also recently a comprehensive update on the 2 new sites, also on the communicator. Explains it all 3. I would agree that everyone was shocked when they went from 4 to 5 classes. We all knew it was going from 2 to 4, but not the additional one. Agreed that this was not beneficial 4. Not sure you are correct about the original teaching staff having left 5. Music dept seems much improved - they have their own website and seem to be more active 6. Agreed on the sports, but happy to see this year that the staff seem a lot more focused sports wise We are still only in phase 1, so some of the issues we are yet to face. I have to admit our fs1 teacher last yr was absolutely outstanding, so this year things are not as smooth, and not sure the shuffling up of classes was that good either. However, i come back to what i originally posted to the OP, you have to go with your gut feel and what suits your DD. What suits one child does not necessarily suit another. And just because the school has grown does not mean it will get worse. I would think the leadership team will be even more motivated to make sure standards are kept high. Tough decision to make!!!

Dinks - there will always be unhappy people, especially when there is change. We are in our second yr at kings and the experience is v positive. However we are only in FS, whereas i think OP your DD is older. I think in the end you have to go with your gut feel - if she is thriving and doing well, why change. Just because the secondary school will be new, it doesnt mean it will be bad! Good luck whatever you decide.

Thanks ladies. ENBD offer this cash advance - called dial a cheque. Interest at 0.99%, whereas i would be able to covert it at 0% on a CC. It really annoys me - am more than happy to pay the charge (works out less than interest), but for some reason they wont allow that! The annoying thing is that last year CC was fine, they have only recently come up with a change in policy....

Im suffering from the same thing, ever since they supposedly upgradedthe system!!! Problem is i like the water, and really not a fan of nestle. Someone mentioned that Al Ain water now deliver 5 gallon bottles but i can't seem to find a contact for them. Any ideas? Thanks

I have been to both and am now sticking with salon ink. I had several bad experiences at TM motor city, ended up always having to go back to get either the cut or colour tweaked, which really annoys me. So despite it being much more convenient as i live in AR, decided to try SI. I go to Nada, and so far so good. I work so end up going on one of their late nights rather than having to use up my weekend, which i also like. Price wise i would say they are about the same. As someone else mentioned, SI is also a lovely salon with so much like, so the whole experience is also great. Btw, i have a shortish blonde haircut Good luck!

Hi, DS1 is almost 5 and still wears nappies at night. Even if i limit his liquid intake after 6pm, he still wakes with a full nappy! Im not sure i agree with lifting, as he is in a deep sleep at that time. Any ideas please? Thank you

Another amazing discovery (thanks to previous threads!) - if you're running out of ideas, this is an awesome one. Open 9.30-12.30 during ramadan (tuesdays closed). Aed15 per adult, kids under 12 free!! Loads to see, and a nice farm too where the children can feed the animals. The wildlife centre is all indoors so fine for now! Enjoy btw took me a good 1/2 hour to get to from AR

Hi, apart from pottery barn, does anyone know where else i can find these? Plenty of places sell mattresses that are narrow enoug, challenge is to find one that is shorter than 200cm and also thinner than a standard mattress. Thank you! (Trying to find one that is more reasonable thanPB!)

Thanks snugs. Mine went today (theyre actually 3&4) and they found it a little overwhelming at first, but managed to settle in and will see how they get on!! Our helper has jist collected them (am at work) so will get the low down tonight! It is oretty full on for them, and my gut feel is its best at 5/6/7 yrs...we'll see. But agreed seems to be well run, and paint smell was not an issue today.

OP - what nationality is your helper? Reason i ask is that our driver was supposed to come back this week after a death in the family, and he extended another 2 weeks without telling us, i had to call the airline to find out! Before he went, he came to our house with his sister - your helper maybe?!!! They are from sri lanka. You never know!! Anyway i would let her come back and then fire her. Try to find someone new in the interim. Yu need to be able to trust the people who are working with you.

Honestly, unless you have a corporate debenture, JESS seems not an option. I am at the top of the personal debenture list for JESS AR, but have at least 40 corporate debentures that take pref on the wait list!! So basically it will snow in dubai before i get a chance to go there....so save your reg fees!! Look for other good schools instead where you might actually stand a chance. Good luck with it all!
