Twokids - I went to have a look as well. I think it will be a nice facility, but there are a couple of things that spring to mind, apart from the lack of resources they currently have (they have told me there are a lot of things on order still yet to arrive). On the plus side i think its well designed, staff seem good and class sizes small with good ratios. Downside for me is no food provided, and not even a good facility to heat anything that you would provide, second is the lack of a designated sleep area. I was told they would have mats that they would roll out as and when sleep was needed. For the younger kids, I am a firm believer in that they need a good day sleep of 2-3 hrs, waiting till 2pm to go home and sleep properly is a bit late for the young ones, and if they stay a full day then even harder. I would also be worried as to how many do full days/full year, my experience so far is that in the AR area, most children are only part time....i wouldnt want mine to be the only ones there!!

In mauritius on holiday with my ex husband, i worked for lehman bros at the time, whose NY office was right there. It still shocks me and feels surreal, even 10 yrs on. I hope all who lost loved ones have managed to rebuild their lives.

We just went in august - check out www.villasinsrilanka.com. We stayed in the doctors house and also the beach hut. These are both nr galle. Have also stayed at villa bentota, small boutique hotel in bentota. We also have 2 boys the same agw, it was paradise for them..... Be aware tho, no pool fences, likely no seatbelts ie no carseats, no a/c....all of which we didnt mind. Air taxi is also a great option, connects well with sri lankan airlines. If you would like more details, pleasse let me know and i can email you, i know the area quie well now....

Good news, the tank is refilling as we speak so guess supply is back on.... Kellsbells, you will have water until your tank empties, we had water also, it was just running low! Would never have realised unless our maintenance guy had said something....

Yes i was me :) thought i would throw it in as an idea! Heres another idea, cranial osteopathy? I went when DS was a newborn to help with reflux, and she also mentioned that it can help with sleep issues. If children have even a small knock to the head, ie something you wouldnt even worry about, it can upset their balance. I went to heidi at the osteopathic centre next to choitram on al wasl rd...

Yes i am! There's also the Pavillion Dive Centre at jumeirah beach hotel, excellent dive school. Diving on this side is not so exciting although there are some good wreck dives which can be fun if visibility is good. The ast coast/musandam has the best diving, so you could always make a weekend of it. Both pavillion and al boom do musandam trips for divers and non divers, you should easily be able to tag along (prob for a fee tho!) enjoy

Thank you ladies for all your input, much appreciated. DH and I had a long talk about it last night, and think we need to be sensible about this and wait a little longer, regardless of how much we fancy the idea!! will take on board all your comments though as and when we make our decision...thanks again

I feel your pain! We have just gone through this with DS1 who is nearly 3....nightlight helped but i think you already have this. tried all sorts of other things, his own torch, special toys etc good luck in any case, it's so tough when they seem so frightened, and so easy to lose patience with them.... edited by JulesLC on 29/08/2011

DIFC has no shops, just expensive art galleries....near dubai mall though, so you could always have lunch here, and do your activities/shopping in dubai mall. best place for lunch with children in DIFC is probably More cafe

if the OP is leaving her baby for 4 days with the father, what is so wrong with that??? it might do her the world of good to get some breathing space to herself, and come back ready to take on the challenge of being a single mum. as mums we all know how hard it is in the early years, and without any support from a partner, and having to take on a new job and all the rest, it could be the best thing for the OP to recharge her batteries. its not as if she is leaving her baby with a stranger!!! i am however assuming that although divorced, the relationship between the 2 parents is ok, and that the father wants to be actively involved. if she was leaving the baby with someone other than family, then I would wonder if you do go Keila, then dont keep questioning your decision, but enjoy it and use the time well so that you can return ready to be the best mum you can be to your daughter. good luck with your decision
