I went to look at both and had a great feel about blossom village. Both my ds have been there, ds1 just started big school but ds2 there until next year. Have always been v happy, with the staff, the set up, the french/arabic, dubai drums etc. i would have no hesitation in recommending. How old are your little ones? Also meet debbie who runs blossom vill, she is excellent, you can even meet the owner who is also very switched on

I understood that you need a bike licence for any type of motorbike, regardless of the cc. I took my motorbike licence and got a 250cc for that kind of commute, we now live inAR and use it for popping out to the shops. It is very useful so if it saves you some hassle, may be worth looking at that route.

I would not be happy about that at all. When looking at nurseries i was always wary of those that didnt let you have a good look round, or only allowed showings at specific times. I would have a talk with the management and see whats what if that is your only nursery option. Good luck

I disagree with drowned inthe nile, i have 2 boys and both were able to communicate easily from an early age. I think the big difference i can see is that boys like more physical kind of activities

I would say if you have 2 close in age, then when No 2 starts walking, things improve a lot as they start to occupy each other. I had 2 under 2 for a while and found it incredibly hard work. Now they are 4 and 21/2, things are a lot better. As someone else said (and i know easier said than done) try to focus on the small positive changes, it definitely happens in small steps, but it does get easier....and for me to have them close together was worth all the hard work, because now they are such great friends (and occasioinally enemies!!). Once you start to replenish your sleep tanks, that will help. I would also get yourself to a doc to make sure you stay on top form - i went to the dubai herbal treatment centre and got some supplements which have made a big difference to my energy levels. Good luck!

Ok, i have directed you to the main difc complex that houses the gate building, the precinct, gate village and currency house. Im not sure where al moosa tower is though so leave plenty of time to find it, there might be better paid parking outside near the tower dependingnon where it is

Ok go down umm suqueim road and take a right onto al khail road. Then its free flowing all the way, take the exit signposted for jumeirah and dubai mall and difc (sorry i cant remeber exactly what is on the signposts! ) but it is the exit just after the one for al safa. You go up and down again on a flyover as you pass over al khail. Keep straight past the turn off to dubai mall then take a right (you will have gone the length of dubai mall which is on your left), its a sliproad that leads you to difc so keep in the right hand lane. At the 2nd lights, by emirates towers, take a u turn and then take the next main right (not the immediate right which will take you to the gate village) past currency house, bear right and you will see visitors parking on your left. Hope that makes sense. If you have google maps, try to follow my instructions. Really its easy and very intuitive, though you sound like you are fairly new to dubai. Do you know where you are goign in difc?

Audreyfb, i work in difc and live inAR, its an easy drive along al khail, takes around 20 mins, maybe 25. Parking is easy in the visitors sectin of the difc and is free for the first 2 hours. Do you have a car? If so i would drive, leave at 8 and give yourself time to have a coffee. Good luck! (would offer to give you a lift but have an apt elsewhere first thing)

Emaar came round and sprayed, but it hasnt really helped. They acknowledged they have a problem, and said they are addressing it. I have emailed them again, no response so far. My father lived in africa years ago when they were trying to tackle malaria, he told me the way they got rid of the larvae in stagnant water was to pour in a small amt of oil, like wd40 or something. The film that covers the water apparently stoped the larvae from breathing. I am not in al reem but remember the lake being full, and also having fish. Is it now drained? What happened to all the fish? Its a weird situation for sure, as you see all these drainage pipes all over the savannah/al reem area

Just thought i would post my feedback as i posed originally....went last night to ali for a cut and highlights - best thing i have done!! Lovely experience all round, the salon is beautiful, ali was on time and was really nice. She spend a while discussing both the cut and colour with me to make sure we understood what i wanted, then did the foils and cut in a nice efficient way. Personally i dont like being in a salon for hours!! Got home and DH's first words were - perfection!! He has never said that before :) so i would def give them a thumbs up from me.

Hi, bigsue, this is what a friend advised me to do as well. Lets all write to emaar - email them on [email protected] and complain. I think we need them to do some serious fogging and ensure there is no stagnant water left from the lake draining. Its really annoying, we have been here over 4 years and never had this!!

Hi, has anyone noticed that there are loads at the moment?? We're in saheel and seem to have them everywhere in the garden. I heard from someone else they have the same problem - anyone else suffering? Is it due to the drained lake maybe?

I am taking my parents there this week, and they were very vague on the phone (the general reservations line) about what we can use the vouchers for - the vouchers are for main courses, i guess it just depends on the staff if they accept the tasting menu? Btw is the tasting menu really good?

Ds has just started at Kings and the drive is fine. Plus their Plan is for a campus to oopen next to repton in2013, and in barsha south 2014, so plenty of choice. Having said that, not sure of the status of 2014 lists, but given their expansion you mit be ok. Good luck

Hi carobbud glad i could help. If you can depending on your circumstances,i would look for a good nursery that will give him plenty of stimulation through structured play, and help to set him up for big school. Good luck

Dont worry at all! Ds has just started FS1 in a british school, having turned 4 on Sep 2, so you cant get much older than that in his year!! I initially had the same reaction as you, as he too attended nursery, and was extremely talkative etc (yes ds is also a mini genius!!) but honestly i am now so happy he had another year bfore he started. His nursery had a very good pre school section, so he had plenty of stimulation there, but in a more relaxed environment. School is much more rigid, there's the uniform, needing to do things independently (toilet, dressing and undressing for sport and swimming etc). He has settled in so quickly at Big school whereas a year ago, it would have been different, even though he was more than comfortable in his nursery environment. Dont worry he will do great. I will have the opposite with DS2 who starts FS1 next sep, as he will be one of the younger ones, but am hoping as he's the second child he will be more prepared. Good luck!

DS has just started FS1 in one of the well known british schools here, and this is also how they do it. However, we were told that if any parent had any sensitivites regarding this, then we should let them know and they will make sure that the child changes in private. Personally at this age i dont see a problem, you dont want them feeling self conscious

I recently bought a whole load of camp furniture from them in the sale. I found it took absolutely ages to place the order, but the best way to do it is grab the store manager and have them do it with you. They do have a centralised order system, so they can see all stock in both shops, and the warehouse. We got a good deal, and it is def worth getting on their list so that for example you find out about things like last thurs promotion. Re the beds, have you checked Kendall? That is also a lovely off white bed. We went for Camp in the end as we chose navy. Good luck, i know how frustrating it can be
