Hi greenish, hope you're doing well! Yes we had thought about taxis, but how do you find a good one? and how can you rely on them to be there as I understood they were not allowed to be privately hired? yes we do have a maid and she would go with the driver in any case as 2 small ones are a lot to handle! Sweetsugar - i will keep the thread posted in case we find a good solution!

hi, they're too little for the school bus - big one will start big school in sep. they are both at nursery at the moment, DH picks them up at the moment, but its putting a strain on his job so we were thinking of starting from now...

yes its strange that you are referring to an assessment, am pretty sure that they are just play sessions, more for you and your LO to see what's what. we got accepted without them having even seen my DS! we are not going to take up the place in the end as we decided on another option in the end looks a nice facility though, and if you do the play session dont worry about it, we did it at 2 other schools and neither was anything traumatic...there are usually so many toys laid out that your LO won't even be aware of anything, she will just want to play! good luck!

yes i was going to suggest the same, try GEMS silicon oasis. and as fairycakeyumm suggested, does your nursery do fs1? some nurseries are affiliated with schools as well so if she does fs1 there, then she stands abetter chance of getting into fs2

having posted the original thread, have to say that i am still very happy with Chi so they do still seem to be keeping up their standards. they also have a fantastic waxing/threading lady there now who moved from T&T AR - shazia i think her name is. for the first time ever, threading actually doesnt hurt! plus having ted morgan next door now means you can do a full on pamper all in the same place!

Thanks for all your feedback., i was just surprised at the disparity. If you asked the same question about filipinas you would be told 1500 as min, 1800+ for someone with experience. This lady has worked for the same family in dubai for 6 yrs and is extremely capable, so have no problem with the level, i was just surprised at the range! Thanks

Thanks mushypeas. I called the agencies who told me that the going rate is 750 for an experienced maid (shockingly low!) , this lady is saying she was paid 2000 which is a massive difference. What do you think, is this what she should expect? This is more than we pay our current lovely lady from the philippines (not by much admitedly)

Morning Ladynomadica, yes we chatted about her family/home situation, she sounds very dedicated, she has a very positive attitude it seems. we would love to meet her as soon as possible, weds evening is fine (today even better! :) I would like her to meet our current helper as well who has been with us for over 3 years, but has decided that at 52, it's time to retire and go back to her family in the phillipines...thanks (and sorry that you will be losing someone you obviously rely on - i know the feeling as well as i also work and have 2 young boys)

I have yet to visit, firstly because i work in difc and it would feel like going back to work, and second because i have been to the original Nice one, which was out of this world! Partly because ingredients you can get in S of F in june are far better than you can get here...my plan is to take a client for lunch instead :) edited by JulesLC on 02/02/2012

i use 0.5 tog the most, then 1.0 (we dont make the AC too cold), i also have 2.5 for when we travel, and for the first time, used this year in the UAE!!! best thing you can ever get - if you buy grobag, it comes with a what to wear for each temp guide which i find spot on....

it was the Abu Dhabi direction, it was backed up past the Ranches R/A, and consequently Umm suqueim St was also a nightmare. Hope they answer soon, I know reception around that area is sometimes patchy and the signal disappears completely

we just adopted on of Luna's pups from Animal Action - check out their FB page. There are a few more from her litter as well as lots of others up for adoption....we also met Dexter on there, he is gorgeous as well but our very young children were a bit intimidated so we opted for small pup instead...but if it was just DH and I, we would have love to have adopted Dexter....like a lovely fluffy GSD mix... so anyone thinking of adopting, please consider AA, their rely on foster homes as they don't have a shleter like K9...

thanks for this, i pay online as often as i can (the window is quite short between the amt popping up as being able to pay and them leaving for the delivery). Have you reported the driver? that's very sneaky...
