I find the British schools/ curriculum attitude to Australian curriculum disapointing. World wide research and statistics show that the Australian curriculum and outcomes especially in higher school years continuously in the top 5 on a global scale. All curriculum's have their merits and arguments it is the design of the delivery of the curriculum that makes them different. Outcomes and results at year 12 always teare a good indication. Anyway my children spent all their lives living out of Australia until they were accepted into Monash University in Melbourne. In all the countries we lived we went to Australian teaching or PYP methodology schools. Here they attended Victoria International school. An Australian school in agreement with the department of education in Victoria and the Sharjah government. Its a tough call placing kids in schools overseas but at 5 and 6 years old there should not be such stringent and ridiculous comparisons and expectations. Foundation learning is some of the most valuable and important teaching your children can receive, it sets them up for their future learning journey. We were in Singapore at this stage of my children's schooling we really researched there. They are in their 20s now and enjoying being Aussies at home and studying edited by julieh on 01/11/2014

Hi there I lived in Singapore for 11 years and loved it. (6 years ago) The East coast area is a great place to live, we always lived along there and was very accessible to everything. My kids went to etonhouse which was a great little school which has from what understand remained just that a great little school. It is on Braodrick rd which is around the areas you mentioned. Back then it was a very affordable school and in a liveable area. Was an Australian principal at the time. One place I would move back to..Singapore. Oh the food is great!

We recently bought a lovely wicker lounge suite for the house. It looks lovely and is something different but OMG it is not comfortable at all! I need to make new cushions the actual one s you sit on with covers and a slightly higher back. The filling in this one is Horrid! Wasn't my first choice but its what i have so I need to make it work. Does anyone know an upholsterer or cushion maker. Appreciate any advice.

Good location near Al Tawuun mall and the Victoria International Australian school I live in garhoud! Which is lovely and close to festival city area. And not a long drive to sharjah in you prefer Dubai living

Hi Andicap The Victoria International school is VISS. Website is undergoing a revamp so not too good! Yes I meet the new Principal at AISM I came over for Anne Maree and Mr Syme's farewell dinner, and he was there. So if your daughter is year 4 there that would be "grade 5 " here so last year of Junior school. The schools are different but similar, academically this school is very strong! but as it is new it is building in other areas such as sports etc, in saying that it was a busy few months ending the year. If you want to know more email me howelldj6 at Bigpond dot com. It is a full Victorian curriculum at the school the Sharjah and Victorian governments are "Partners" in the venture. so for me the academics were always going to stay true to OZ. They use all Victorian text books etc and all staff from OZ mostly Victoria My kids grew up in Asia until they were 14/15 and we moved here. they adjusted quite well! They are 17 and 18 now. The campus here is amazing and the Junior school is big with lots of students, the Middle school is building as id the senior school. AISM is a great place and I miss it alot was a great atmosphere there and Community, I was president of the PA there for 4 years so know the school very very well :) as I say contact me if you have any questions. We may even know some of the same people :) I still remain in contact with many people there

The school is right on the border of Dubai and Sharjah on the Al Mamzar Lagoon I am not sure of the travelling distance for you. My 2 get the bus from Garhoud (near Festival city) it collects them at 735. School starts at 8.10 finishes at 3, they are home by 345 If not doing after school activity I know there are kids on the bus that come from the Palm and past Mall of Emirates. I think the bus run starts at 7am and finishes at 4. Not sure about Internet City

Forever 21, I am so saddened and sorry to hear of your daughters passing. She really fought hard to give you the time she did. SHe will be your angel watching out for you and your family! Give yourself the time and space to grieve. You might need lots of PJ days. It has been a huge physical and emotional journey for you. Zamashimane will always be part of your family and in your heart. Even though it was only a short time you had to be with her she will always remain with you x

My 2 kids attend the Victorian International School in Sharjah - They love it. It is kept very strictly to the Australian Curriculum except for Arabic /Islamic ministry regulations. We have many different cultural groups in our school. Academically we have been very happy. Our school is run in partnership with the Victorian education department and is owned by the ruler of sharjah. There is no Segregated classes except swimming. We had several new kids just start so they are taking enrolments edited by julieh on 22/01/2011

I hope everything is ok! If they get to early enough they can give you some drugs to try to slow the labour and steroids to try to strengthen the babies lungs. My DD was born at 28 weeks, underweight for her gestation, with some medical issues. But happy to say she is 18 in a few months and has no really bad lasting effects. In 18 years I am sure medicine has come along way and your baby will have the best care available. Premmies can be stressful with lots of highs and lows. My thoughts are with you. Take care
