A little off topic but went to H&M yesterday where there was a rack with a sign that said "TOPS 49 DHS". When I got to the register my top rang up as 99 DHS. I believe it was the manager who happened to be walking by and I said my item rang up incorrectly. We walk back to the rack, he looks at it and yes (in a condescending tone) that the 49dh price is for tops. And I said, yes what I have purchased is a top! He is a little embarrassed but still rude and starts digging frantically through the rack trying to explain that the tops start at 49dhs and go all the way up to 149dhs. I said that the sign was very misleading, it makes it seem to a customer that everything on the rack is 49dhs (sign should say "TOPS FROM 49 DHS). He continued to be rude to me so I just walked out of the store. So, buyer beware at H&M, check the price tag on the items themselves rather than relying on their sign. I won't be shopping there for quite a while after encountering such a rude & arrogant employee. edited by Kaba on 22/05/2012

I had something very similar happen recently at Plug-Ins. Trying to return something that had never been opened 5 days after the purchase. I also asked them where on their return policy it stated store credit only (they have a large sign behind their registers). They couldn't show me but the same person continued to say store credit only. So I went to another counter on the other side of the store and said I was disappointed at the outcome, that person refunded my money without a thought! Sometimes I think it just depends on who you speak to.

Exactly! It's the men that clearly need the supervision, not the women. I had a couple at the weekend driving the boat. They were messing about with their jet ski's shadowing the boat, interfering with us, I stopped the boat, hauled in my wake boarder and shot off after them! Boat vs Jet ski - with an angry screaming banshee at the wheel - they soon got the message. LIKE! :)

I also have one I am selling. This was the only stairgate I found which could fit my Arabian Ranches villa 75-114cm. It is wooden and very strong and the brand is www.childhome.be Let me know if you are interested. Hi Mary, if Rumis isn't interested can you please send me the info on the gate you're selling. We also have a large gap (108cm) and it's difficult to find something sturdy to fit. My email is kaba underscore dubai at hotmail dot com Thanks!

Hi Samie10, I've also flown a couple of different times during pregnancy, the last about 24 weeks as well and it was great! You're at the point in the pregnancy where you (fingers crossed) are past the morning sickness, but you're tummy also isn't huge. ;) I really enjoyed flying during my second trimester, the first trimester - not so much. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the info Wysiwyg on the camera, I'm definitely going to buy one. I do hope that you're feeling a bit better. Don't concern yourself with those other comments. People tend to be quite a bit more bad-mannered on an anonymous forum than they ever would be in person. ;)

If that was you at 4pm on Emirates Road today just before the 66 junction in a greeny grey type Ford, thankyou very much for sitting on my tail whilst I was in the second lane, I couldn't move into the first lane because of the lorries. However, there were another 4 lanes you could have used to overtake me! You then barging me out of the way, and then sticking your finger into your mouth and sucking it before giving me the bird was just lovely for my daughter to see.... And thanks to the Go Pro camera sat on my dash have no doubt my husband will watch with interest. Shame on you. So sorry you & your daughter had to experience this awful man. It's also sad that you can't go on a forum like this and vent about what happened - for nothing else than to get it off your chest - without being attacked by other people who think they know "better". You did nothing wrong! I would very much like to know where you purchased your dashboard camera if you don't mind sharing. I was recently in a very minor accident, I was alone as was the other driver and the police chose to believe his story, whereas if I would have had such a camera I could have proved it was actually his fault. TIA

Yes, ours were that way as well. That being said, when I went to pickup the two that I received an SMS about being ready, I also had them check for my DS' and even though they hadn't sent an SMS, it was already there so I was able to pick it up the same time as the others. I would say to bring all the receipts and just have them check and see if they're there.

That's wonderful that you've already gotten out of the house with your LO! I remember my first few weeks BF'ing and how self-concsious I was feeding in public (always with a cover). My cover is also fairly heavy and my LO would get hot, sometimes I use an Aden & Anais muslin swaddling blanket draped over me and LO instead. They are fantastic blankets! The only place I know to get them here is a shop in Jumeriah Centre (next to Magrudy's on Beach Rd).

I have 2 children who go to the same nursery, one's 1 and one's 2, for the most part they really enjoy it there and I'm happy with it. But today I went to pick up my younger child from his room (it is kind of like the villa next door to the main nursery, where the smaller children go) and there were 8 under 2's in there with 2 'nannies', the teacher was off. Around 4 of the children were crying and trying to get out as I opened the door and my DS was crying hysterically as he had just been bitten rather nastily by another child, he was actually bleeding. Now personally I don't feel 2 'nannies' can look after 8 under 2's adaquetely, least of all provide a fun, active, stimulating, etc environment. Apparantly tomorrow there will be 9 under 2's in there and the teacher will still not be back. I do not think that's acceptable, what do you think??What would you do? (My DS won't be going but am I over reacting?) TIA edited by ashnaisbitt1986 on 17/04/2012 I'd be livid if that was my child and no, my child would not be going back ever. Completely irresponsible of the nursery. In complete agreement

We used the Maxi Cosi Mura 4. Pros: It's very sturdy, easy to maneuver even one handed, proper tires so it actually works well in the sand, has adaptors to attach the Maxi Cosi infant seat, once your child uses the regular seat with it, it's extremely comfortable and reclines to a nearly flat position. Now the cons: it's very heavy, and very wide so can be a challenge to maneuver through stores sometimes, the seat has to be removed before folding and it takes up a lot of room in your vehicle. Despite all the cons I'm still very pleased we purchased this one and we're now using it again with our littlest one. Good luck in your decision

Do not take your kids to this if they still believe in the Easter Bunny! Miss 6 said "Mum, are you really the Easter Bunny?" right after :( That being said it's quite a nice film but a lot of dialogue, a bit grief intensive and overall quite long (2hours4mins) and for me there wasn't enough of the animals. Totally agree!

I have a high schooler currently enrolled in K12. He always struggled in school and never really enjoyed learning. I was quite weary before we started but I'm amazed at what a hard worker he has become and how much he enjoys being able to prioritize his own day. His teachers have all been very helpful and are easy to get in touch with, by phone, email, or even Skype. I love that I can see his progress in all his classes anytime I want, as well as all correspondence between him & his teachers and what work he has due, what's past due, all scores he's received, etc. I'm totally satisfied with this program! Thanks for your help ladies, I'm off to Immigration. Have u reported her? Urghhh! This is not going well ladies. Checked with Immigration and they tell us that "something" is going on with her Visa in Sharjah Immigration but she is still technically our responsibility as her "visa status has not been changed." I really don't understand how something can show in-process but still show my husbands name on it.? Anyway, my DH called & SMS'd her, she would not phone back but hours later her cousin called him. He spent about 30 mins on the phone with this woman trying to explain that we must speak with the new family to be sure things are being done correctly - as it seems that something is amiss. When we decided to take her on it only took a few days to have her taken off her previous sponsors visa and have a new entry permit issued for her under DH's name. The cousin is refusing to give us the phone number of her new sponsor and being quite belligerent really. My DH feels bad, trying to give the maid the benefit of the doubt and says we will give her a week - even though the cancelation says her new visa must be processed by today. I understand there are overstay fees that we will be fined for everyday she is here without the proper visa. I'm in complete disagreement with him. As much as I wanted to do the right thing for her - and I have as much as I could - I feel like she is leaving us no choice. In the end, we are still responsible for her and by her refusal to cooperate we have no choice but to report her absconded to protect ourselves if she won't allow us to speak with the new sponsor. What do you all think? edited by Kaba on 09/04/2012 I also wanted to mention that when asked the cousin kept saying "her new sponsor has her passport", but if that is in fact the truth then how can a new Visa be in-process if Immigration isn't in possession of it? edited by Kaba on 09/04/2012

I would not have another child at City. My doctor (who only delivers there) was fantastic, and so were the nurses on the Labor floor but the experience following the birth of my LO was not good. Once on the recovery floor I remember wondering if I was in the same hospital as it was so disorganized and I didn't care for any of the nurses I had during my time there. I felt they were cold and were not helpful at all. I had to beg for an injection of Morphine an hour after delivering via c-section and the nurse seemed annoyed but eventually gave in to my cries of pain. They were also terrible with pain management, supposed to be bringing me either Panadol or a anti-inflamitory every 4 hours, many times I would go 8 hours without anything. Discharge was also unorganzied and I had to remind the nurse of the medications I was supposed to go home with which she had failed to give me. Then upon leaving, I felt rushed along because my DH had brought the car up near the entrance doors as I was in a wheelchair. Even though there were other cars parked there and ours was running as we were leaving the hospital, they still were upset that it was there and trying to rush us along. Let me just re-iterate that he was pulled off to the side, not blocking traffic, and only there long enough to come up to get me and LO and escort us to the car.

I went to Immigration today, they looked up the status of her and tell me nothing has changed. So yes technically she still is our responsibility. I did end up speaking to her a few days ago, she was very bitter and angry with me but kept telling me she has a new sponsor but the Madam does not want to speak to me. So now my question is, what happens if I report her absconded? Has anyone done this? She only has a few days left on her 30 day grace period and then we will be responsible for her overstay charges if we can't get her on a flight, either that or we report her as absconded. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

immigration would ask you to leave her passport with them and her exit ticket, then its out of your hands. Think it gets a bit trickier if you don't have her passport or copies. If you decide to report her as absconded, its best to do it before she starts accumulating fines. At this point probably best to send her a text asking her to get in touch or you will have no choice other then to report her as absconded. If she wants to work legally she will hopefully call you. Thanks Purple. I do not have her passport. However, I do have a copy of it. I just heard from her (over SMS) and she tells me she has a new sponsor. Should I ask for a copy of her new Entry Permit or is that wrong?

Try this number +971-4-3980000 Thanks Halfmoon! They were very helpful. Can't tell me her status over the phone but I do understand that if the next person did not start the process then she is still our responsibility. Have tried getting ahold of her again without success. Hopefully she will get in touch so I don't have to file a absconded case. Anyone know what happens when a maid absconds?

You mentioned you got new entry permit for her, did she enter on that entry permit or did you pay trasnfer charge in immigration? If yes, then she is still your responsiblity. If you only got new entry permit and you cancelled it without she using it, then she is not your responsiblity. HTH She entered on our entry permit (had to do a Visa run - only on paper) because she was so close to the end of her 30day grace period. I don't know how far the other family got in the process. Would they have had to get her an Entry Permit as well, before they were able to start the Visa What do you think? Does Immigration have a help line?

Is he breaking things & slamming doors intentionally? Is he angry/upset/frustrated when these things happen? My DS is doing the same thing but intentionally. However he has only ever destroyed his own things, granted much of that has been purchased by us. We have not purchased any electronics for him for over a year because of his outbursts. And there are consequences when he does act out.
