How about Cyprus or Greece or Turkey. They're all relatively nearby and I think you'll find plenty to keep you busy as well as a sunny atmosphere.

Remember going a week after my first C-section to a Chinese restaurant and one of the old patrons was smiling as we hauled in DS in his carseat to sit by us.

It doesn't matter who the President is anyway. Robert Mugabe could be the President of the USA and things would always be the same. My thoughts exactly.

I don't understand why Syria bombed Turkey but then I thought Syria might want to involve them in the war and somehow have it in their favour. That poor family and the endless lives taken daily by the war...

They will always need you, even in their adult life. My two are 41 and 38 and still need my help from time to time, but that's what parents are for. There's been happy times, sad times and traumatic times, but at the end of it all I have four grandchildren in the UK and three here who keep me very busy one way and another, so the cycle starts again. Maybe one day I'll get to take it easy ! As I'm an Arab and Muslim I don't really think my sons are going anywhere far. So I'm not concerned about it. :) I'll always be there for them if/when they need me. By the way, it would be interesting to note the difference between the grandkids you have here and in the UK.

Wait until they reach adulthood and no longer need you :( That sounds like heaven. :P I'm pretty sure I'm alone in feeling this way, haha. I enjoy my time with the kids a lot but I'd be fine on my own, too.

Niqabis are discriminated against here. My own sister was pushed away from a company even though the recruiter told her she was PERFECT for the job just because she covered her face. She majored in IT Security so facial expressions aren't exactly a requirement, it wasn't like she was going to be a receptionist. She eventually got a job but it paid a lot less than the one she wanted. You would think the UAE would be perfect for niqabis. :/

From someone who is in the throes of having young children, I can't wait until they're a bit older so I can get a good night's sleep! My thoughts exactly. I like my oldest since I don't need to tend to him during the night, he can feed himself and he goes to the toilet by himself! I'm not a baby person at all, haha.

Retin-a and hydroquinone. If you have reservations about the hydroquinone go for retin-a alone. Guaranteed to remove the scars but more effective together.

I've been on one of those fast boats in Thailand and I was terrified I would miscarry (I didn't think about the possibility until I was on the boat, duh). But after looking online I was comforted with people saying their doctors gave them the go ahead that the baby was pretty well supported and protected in the womb. My DS is sitting in my lap now, safe and sound!

I'm a big fan of manga but the look she has going is downright disturbing. Not cute in the slightest. The OPPOSITE of cute. UpsyDaisy, why are you freaked out about Adventure Time? That made me laugh. I think it's a pretty creative cartoon.

OP, I think I'm the one who mentioned it. And I think it was a limited time thing - unless it was successful, who knows. Why don't you call HD to check if they still have it (though today is the 30th and it might be the last day?)

Still think Snoopy is the cutest cat in the world. http://snoopy409.tumblr.com/ An exotic shorthair and how I want one! Me and my DS are officially obsessed.Went to the petshop and they said they were sold out of exotic shorthairs as they were a very popular breed.

OP, consider using retin-a from any pharmacy (about 28aed or so). You'll experience a bit of peeling and you have to moisturize but you'll see that the spots eventually disappear.

Hey, Apricot, I'm pretty sure if the syrup is applied while hot (both the dough and the syrup) they're softer if that's what you're going for. In Balah Alsham they want 'em to stay crispy so wait until both dough/syrup is cold before mixing.

Mint chocolate chip from Baskin Robbins. Liked it since I was a kid and still do. Macadamia Nut Brittle from Haagen Dazs. I tried HG's new Mint CC yesterday and didn't like it. Salted Caramel is better.

Katnip, that is a very good price. I may just pay Lulu a visit. Do you use it a lot? I don't bake so not sure if it's worth buying when I have all the items I need individually. I use it a lot for both kneading dough and baking purposes (cake batter mixing & macaron folding...etc). It's especially great for kneading, that's one worry off my list. I will say, however, that the induction tool has been more or less dormant because it has one fatal error: when it gets really hot the speed grades are rendered useless. It slows down to an incredibly slow speed and you can't speed it up again while it's hot. The main reason I went for the Chef was because I needed to knead hot dough fast. Unless I get a technician to fiddle with the thing I can't use it like advertised. Though I imagine using it for making caramel, soup or curry, for example, would be ideal since stirring speed should not be an issue.

Actually, it's not gluten-free flour I'm baking with! Not sure if you're aware of Papa Roti, it's this "Mexican coffee bun" that has salted butter in the middle and needs this elusive vital wheat gluten to work/puff up. Anyways... Hope someone sees this and imparts their wisdom upon me.

TDB> Sorry for the late reply. I tried the Organic Store but staff said they didn't carry it. And no bulk quantities, just for personal use. I'm trying to replicate Papa Roti buns at home! Darn things won't puff up in the center correctly and I'm at my wit's end.

hilsbils> You shouldn't have to put up with a kid actually hitting you! If I were you I would have walked up to the family and said something. They were absolutely wrong for not interfering but I think they would have reacted positively to your complaint.
