Well are you English or French to start with? If English put her into French so that she will already speak 2 languages and vice versa.

The way to cut down on your electricity is to do your washing in the evening. Also put your dishwasher on in the evening Mainly after 8pm.I tried it for 3 months to see if there was a difference. What a surprise I got. We are lucky enough not to pay housing fees. But have managed to cut down around AED400 on DEWA. We pay around AED300-AED400 per month for a 4 bed villa. Not used the A/C at all yet, we have got reflective windows so the villa stays really cool. I hope you don't mind me asking, but at which location do you live? We are in a 4 bed at The Villa, very frugal with all the electrics (water is a bit of a prob as we have a leaking pool!) but what is the electricity portion on average? I firmly believe it depends which location you live at ... I was told that DEWA tend to target the expat areas (Palm/Meadows/Springs/Ranches etc etc). We used to live at the Ranches. Our bills there were approx AED600. We now live at JVC Where all the properties are new. Ours is a 3 storey villa with a storage room and maids room in the basement as well. We never paid above AED600 for DEWA and that was in the summer.

Yes we have a garden. Not too big but it has plants etc so needs watering. I always water in the evenings as well, otherwise the water just evaporates.

I have a friend who has moved here and is now in employment. Her employers have asked for a leaving certificate for when she left school. The problem is she cannot remember getting one. Just a sheet of paper with her exam results on it. She left school in 1981, did they not give them out at that time? If they did does anyone know where to obtain an original copy of it TIA

I was there with DH,DD and other friends. I was so glad we had not paid to go! She was DIRE! It was like watching a fetish show. It was all lip synched (not even good lip sync at that) she has lost the ability to dance. The only time the audience cheered was when she sand a song of Rhiannas and Jennifer Lopez. It came to the end and off she went, there was no encore shouted for, but she left it so long before coming back on half the arena had gone. Then to not even sing one of her own songs on the encore well...... The one people were waiting for, oops I did it again never came on! Utter rubbish.

Search for posts from last year but yes you can get real xmas trees that are flown in for the festive season. While they are not cheap, the Dubai Garden Centre does nice trees - it depends where you are from around the world as each country seems to have their own style of tree - the Dubai Garden Centre ones look just like a kiwi christmas tree. Their trees are lovely. We used to live next door to the people that own the Garden Centre. Their trees look like a Kiwi tree because they are Kiwis LOL. Spinneys also do Cristmas trees nearer the time, bit pricey though :(.

Not sure about this, but have you tried the chemist? particularly a Boots chemist. They seem to do things like this, or even just a normal one might sell it. Maybe a health shop or the organic shop might have it too. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck with the search.

The salt water spray is only used as a nasal cleanser before other sprays that you use. A/C is also a big factor in sinus problems. My sinusitis and ear infection turned to vertigo which was awful. Have sympathy with anyone who has these problems.

We always bring uncooked p**k in. Also cooked p**k. So bacon, sausages, pork pies, tinned ham and sausage rolls. Get a stash of xmas choccies, advent calendar a must, saw one in a supermarket today AED66!!! All the tubes of sweets are good as well. Some cereals that are expensive here I put in the case as well. Have been known to bring Warburtons muffins and crumpets as well and freeze them. Penguins are cheaper in the UK. DD likes Frubes so freeze them with the p**k products and bring those. so what would happen if your flight was delayed or your luggage got lost ? how long is raw meat in a suitcase good for ? or if you freeze it does that mean you have to eat it all as soon as you get home ?? I guess it's a risk we take. The longest our flight has been delayed is 2 hours and everything was still frozen when we arrived so it all went straight into the freezer. Not thought about lost luggage lol.

Hi, I had this problem. Had headaches, painful face, eyes hurt and difficulty breathing. Went to the doctors and she diagnosed acute sinusitis. She prescribed 2 nasal sprays 1 was Ocean Spray which is basically salt water. You spray each nostril once then half hour later a spray called Otrivine which was amazing. Also had an ear infection and had to have the wax taken out as well. Hope it gets better soon.

I don't know how to deactivate it :( but I do only go to one Du shop. This is the one at Ibn Battuta. They seem to be the only shop that will sort your problems before you leave. If you have a complaint they will fill in the form and authorise the repayment of money as well. Good luck.

Totally agree. We live in their country and should respect that. We were in Festival City on Saturday and saw a woman and her 2 daughters. The woman was wearing a see through blouse which was undone below her bra. Her skirt was a pelmet, and also she had seamed tights on. To top it all she was encouraging her daughters to dress the same! They were about 14 & 10. How I kept my mouth closed I will never know.

OMG!!!!! Did you pay a deposit, has it been cashed? Has your first cheque been cashed? You really need to go to RERA urgently!!! Have you got in touch with the agent to find out what is happening? Don't let anyone fob you off, keep on their backs, but get down to RERA as not sure of the time they close. Good luck!!! Keep us all updated.

If it was Jess AR, then they operate a 'one way' policy around the perimeter of the school so you can only ever pull in on the right, if that makes any sense. ALthough this information is in the 'parents info' section on their website and they send out enough mail on this topic. Does not excuse rudeness though....she should be brought forward and given a good ticking off ....tell us where and when and the posse shall arrive! All good in theory, yes they turn in on the right, but think they have a god given right to tutn left on the way out!!! Also they double park alongside the school and the public bus has to stop in the middle of the road to let people off with children, just because they park in the bus stop!! Sorry about the rant, but one lady got off the bus and was shouted at because she was in the way of her pulling out!!!

Go to DragonMart, they have the most amazing curtains there. All made to measure, whatever fabric you want and any extras. Then they come and fit them for you. I had 3 roman blinds to go across patio doors with windows either side and a fancy piece across the top, plus blackout and that was AED1,200. You do have to look around all the curtain places though.Happy shopping :)
