Ladies, Baby has been crying all day and I'm at my wits end. To cut a long story short, I have had to switch from expressed milk to formula and am using Aptimal Comfort. I was mixing Gaviscon infant with my expressed milk, however I don't know if I can mix it in with the formula too, as it says it shouldn't be used with other thickening agents. Has anyone had any experience with what to do with baby reflux and formula feeding?? xx tia

Hi Big Blu, My little one was in NICU at City hospital and the neonatologists who looked after him were AMAZING! We have since had check ups with both of them and have again, been so impressed with them. Give them a try!

Hi maxmistry and Jupiter, Hope you are both doing well. Maxmistry, did they take your baby to NICU straight aft the birth? I've been told that they will do this because of the GD? Jupiter- how are you doing? X

Thanks so much for the advice. It seems like a lot of info to take in from the book but I think I'll definitely use aspects of her routines. Have just got the Baby Whisperer so will read that and then try to combine them. Thanks again

I'm looking for advice from those that followed Gina Fords routines. How early did you start with them? And did you start with any routine in the hospital?

I think she is fantastic! She comes across as a very 'personal' doctor and always puts my mind at ease. Yes, she does have her phone available for her patients to get in touch with her but if you were near the end of your pregnancy - I'm sure you'd appreciate having her on call.

Hi Jupiter, I think the 36 week scan is routine but then I'm not sure why it isn't included in your antenatal package. Who is your Obs at City? I'm with Dr Anne and very happy with her so far. I have seen the dietitian and honestly, it's rather similar to what I eat anyway but I do find that it's a lot to eat with the three meals and three snacks a day. I don't usually eat this much! How are your sugar levels going? I just don't understand it!! I haven't had a high reading yet, infact they have all been really low! (some below 90 even two hours after eating!) has this happened at all to you? Pregnancy has gone very well so far so I'm grateful that this is the only 'hiccup' I've had. Baby is growing and moving more and more every day and I'm definitely feeling the extra weight at night with trying to roll over and move. How are things going with yours?

Hi Jupiter, Thanks so much for all the info - so helpful! I saw the other Endo at City and he was really nice and explained everything to me. However, similarly to you, I do wonder if they blow this out of proportion - more $$ for them. My insurance cover isn't great either, so I know I will end up paying quite a bit for this. (AED 600 yesterday, AED200 tomorrow for the dietitian, and then another appointment with the Endo next week to give him my results.) He has told me that he doesn't think I will need medication and should be able to control it with my diet. I do eat a healthy and balanced diet so unsure what the dietitian will change tomorrow. Thanks you for the details on the glucose monitor as I do need to go get one now and was hoping that I wouldn't be paying a fortune for it. When the Endo tested me yesterday, I was higher than the 'normal' again so the next few days should be interesting! How far in your pregnancy are you? I am now 29 weeks but starting to worry about if I'll have to deliver early due to this GD. My doctor has said that she will only be able to tell me at 36 weeks if this will need to happen which doesn't give me much notice. Thanks again for all the info!

Hi Jupiter, I have also just been diagnosed with GD. if you don't mind me asking, what were your glucose readings? My first and second readings were well below what they needed to be but then peaked with the third reading to 162. I'm also at City and seeing the Endo today. Hoping that it can just be controlled with diet and no medication needed.

What a lovely restaurant! The views are stunning over the marina/JBR/media city. Very casual and laid back inside. Food was amazing! There were four of us and we ordered three buckets, shrimp (delicious), crab and lobster. Service is a little slack, but would definately go back - there are not very many restuarants like this where the food is so reasonable and delicious.

Not sure how close your wedding is, but I had mine made in China and sent over to me. I was sceptical in the beginning about ordering over the internet and never trying it on, but it has turned out perfectly! You can either order the dresses from their styles (they copy all the big designers) or you can send a picture like I did. Then you send your measurements and they get working on it. It took about 4 weeks to make, and then 1 week in shipping. Mine is beautiful and it cost about 1/20th of the quote that I got from Dubai! Let me know if you want the details.

Most of us know about it. It's great fun to start going YES! YES! YES! etc and when they start asking for details you just keep shouting YES I"M SO EXCITED etc, - they get really irritated and eventually hang up. LOL! Ha ha, thats funny. Straight away I told them to never phone me again and I'll report them to the police. He said "ok go to the police station". An arrogant thief!

I've also got them! I thought they may be some kind of aphid rather than an ant but I'm really unsure. They are so small and when squashed, they smell really bad. I also can't find where they are coming from. Please let me know if you manage to get rid of them.

Just a matter of interest - I have a two bed villa. The cleaner came today and I asked her not to clean the spare room as I was working in there so all she had to do was the main bedroom, lounge and kitchen and ironing. But after 3 hours, she did not manage to do the ironing. My house is really not dirty, it is just general cleaning to do. Should she have enough time to do ironing in 3 hours? yes Absolutely, mine does 3 bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, dining room, outside porch, hangs ou a load of washing and does all the ironing. If she has time she cleans the small patio area outside. She says my house is one of the easiest of the week - I think because we have everything put away, she is not expected to tidy, just clean. I am not saying you expect her to tidy but she said with some houses she has to put away a weeks worth of childrens toys before she can clean. OK now I feel like a wally, I must be hiring them for too long? we live in a large 2 bed (about 1,500 sq ft), 3 bathrooms but small kitchen, 1 balcony. I also usually have a big pile of ironing and would like the sheets changed weekly. Spare room is empty atm as it is being decorated to become nursery. How many hours do I need? We are very tidy people, house is usually spotless, just need her to dust and clean, not rearrange anything. 4 hours enough? or 3 even? Your house sounds identical to ours. We always have the maid come once a week for 4 hours. She arrives at 7.45 and leaves at 11.45. The ironing always gets done (no more than 4-5 items per week) and the rest of the house is dusted, vacuumed and moped etc. Windows in living area are cleaned inside and out and the bathrooms cleaned. Some weeks I also give her a task i.e. wipe out the fridge, clean inside a cupboard. If we don't have too much ironing she fits it all in beautifully. We never expect her to tidy up.. just clean. I figure we're big and ugly enough to tidy up after ourselves and put our junk and bits and bobs away. Hope that helps! Ours is also just cleaning. There are only two of us - no kids so there is really nothing to put away. She doesn't clean our windows, has never cleaned the fridge or microwave (I do that). Doesn't wash dishes (dish washer) Doesn't make the bed or change sheets (I do) so really.. she should be able to vacuum, mop, wipe down the counters and iron in 3 hours.

Singapore Sling - very interesting to see another persons view. I am a teacher and have just taught at two excellent private schools in Johannesburg. Yes, the education system has gone under a radical change but that is due to the circumstances in South Africa having changed so much since 1994. The private schools in South Africa still offer an excellent education due to the fact that, although they have to comply with the Department of Education, they still write their own private exams which are of a very high standard. I believe that British International College leaves a lot to be desired. It is very alternative and the learners who are often seen walking to the nearby shopping centre are soo untidy!! I don't think there are very many rules there!

I have bought a number of items from Etsy and always been so happy with them! However, I have ordered two little dresses for my flowergirls for my wedding, and production was supposed to take 4 - 6 weeks. 10 weeks on I'm still waiting! She has used USPS to ship them and it seems that they are stuck at customs in the US. She has said that she can resend two more if I pay for priority shipping - but I don't think that I should have to! Otherwise - amazing website! LOVE LOVE!
