There's always wedding/evening dresses etc on the racks, the quality of work is a real step up from the others.

Hi there Dubs2015 - have been using Queens Laundry in Beach Centre on Beach Road for over 20 years for the items you mention and they never fail to do an outstanding job. Hope this helps.

Jennyj87 I order meth folate online from iherb as never found it here, quick delivery - many people buy their supplements online as they're generally half the cost of buying here.

Thanks macaroon62 - the thing is the stuff that's available here is all so utterly bland/tasteless/cakey and doesn't toast well at all. Yesterday I resorted to having 6kg of my gluten free bread mix sent by courier from Australia, roll on Monday for its arrival! Happy to share some so your husband can taste what he's missing out on!

A tiny bit of advertising before Net a porter hits town... Net-a-porter's been available in the UAE for Donkey's, I've been using them over here for the past 9 years  There's a lot of us in UAE who buy online from net a porter, however with their impending physical presence in this region shortly thought it may have something to do with this cheeky wee spate of advertising for another online retailer.

Chit-chats are the amazing wee lizards that we see here scampering up and down the exterior and sometime interior walls - they make a chit-chat noise and eat mosquitos and many other bugs.

Sounds more like "chit-chat" poo rather than bird poo - bird poo kind of splatters whereas chit-chat poo is just tiny black droppings.

Run a thick trail of sugar away from house along side fence to back fence, keep it topped up. I witnessed a very traumatic situation with ant powder and a small kitten here years ago, please don't use it gingercat given you have small children and a cat.

I don't think I've seen Dubai look so bad as it did on 31 December. Then we had NYE fireworks and fire at The Address, the pollution reading equipment is probably died.

There's no serious consequences to deter these acts of stupidity like bbq'ing on balcony or cigarettes being thrown until it's too late. Until there's serious consequences, all the stupid people will continue to do stupid dangerous things. Too easy to blame the watchman or the like.

xN you must talk to your landlord/maintenance people and insist that the problem be rectified ASAP as it's a health hazard for you and others in your building who will also be breathing the mould spores - mould is so detrimental to our health. Hope to manage to have the problem taken care of.

I think Carluccio's does, but call them first before going to verify. It is not a restaurant but NKD Pizza has gluten-free options. Carluccio's serve a complete gluten free menu Strange....I was at Carluccio's DM two Fridays ago and ordered an omelette for breakfast however the waitress had no clue what GF bread was.

Where to park at SLAM, I heard the empty block opposite is no longer an option? I usually park on the sandpit opposite or on the street which is paid parking Quieter by Ace Hardwear and you can just walk over Sandpit was blocked of last time I went and difficult to find paid parking close by. That's something else that I factor in when doing anything in Dubai, ease of parking/access.

Can assure you lilly111 I'm a very happy SLAM customer (ex Salon Ink client) - I'm easily impressed by good hairdressers and excellent customer service, if this disappears then I will be on the look out for a new salon/hairdresser. Please share your hairdresser with us.

Smartee if my hair is cut/styled/shaped really well, I can stretch the time between visits if I need to - why don't you try alternating with maybe just a cut and blow dry in between the full works to stretch it out.

My cut and colour every 5-6 weeks or so is the best investment I can make in myself - if my hair feels fantastic so do I. I go to Debbie at SLAM and come out feeling like a new woman every time.

Like Cherry ripe says, use your silver freezer bags/ice packs, buy things fresh day before and wrap tightly in lots of newspaper then sealed plastic bags and put in fridge overnight - put into silver bags with ice packs and into suitcase just before leaving for airport. Same goes for plant cuttings, but no need to refrigerate. We sometimes bring small esky if we have a ham and other cold things. Brisbane/Dubai no problem, straight into the fridge when we arrive home.

Hi there Syd123 sorry to hear you have had this scare with your health. I was saddened to read your post about your "very serious and no-nonsense" doctor and how you would have felt uncomfortable taking up his time to ask questions about because he's very clever and capable. Really?? Why would you allow him to make you think he was too good to answer your very important health questions? If he's clever and capable, then he would be the doctor I wanted the answers from.

Just by looking at the low number of views to this post about the environment compared to other posts tells a story, needs to be massive public environmental education for all.

Yes Ave Marina it's an absolute shame that a unique part of the world like this can't come up with original unique ideas to showcase how they are working to protect the environment instead of covering the place up with more concrete. Every time I look at Safa Park I could cry.

Sadly in this place there's always a priority to make things look "pretty" without enough thought or emphasis on the environment. Cherpie I'm with you, companies need to provide basic environmental education to their staff - just simple things like every time I buy cheese at Carrefour I have to explain why I don't need a polystyrene tray as well as cling wrap, why can't Carrefour introduce old school greaseproof paper I wonder, never received a reply after posting a note in their suggestion box. We can all make a difference just by declining all bags at the check out of all stores, more often than not the item we purchase can just be popped into our handbag with the receipt. So much we can all do everyday.
