I absolutely second Hitachi, purchased a fairly large Hitachi fridge/freezer in about 2004 from their showroom in Bur Dubai, it's a beautiful fridge and still looks like brand new today. We also have a Supra fridge which is now the spare as we out-grew it, hence the Hitachi purchase - it's now 20 years old and never missed a beat.

Another psycho here, would personally not put my child in that position. Back in the day our kids went from Jumeirah to DESS every morning on a school bus which was organised by a group of parents with a rental company, same excellent driver for years, 20 seater bus had seat belts and there was always a parent/authorised adult on the bus to supervise, no housemaids. We had children as young as 4 on the bus. When they went to college they caught the school bus with all their friends. Just wondering if this is still done, it worked so well.

Ohhhhh Crocus I've just had a similar sort of problem with them as well. Paid a small fortune to send a small registered parcel to Perth 13 July from Empost at Town Centre. It was right before Eid however, package did not arrive in Perth until 3 August - 22 days later!!! The gent at Empost Town Centre was ever so helpful but all he could do was call someone within EP with the same old "it's on it's way". Online tracking system useless and never updated. After countless calls to EP Customer Service, on 27 July I finally got hold of someone who told me the package was sitting in a basket at the airport along with other packages waiting to be sent to Australia. He said EP was not a courier service and that it "takes time", I'll say!!! Emirates Post service has not improved one little bit in 20 years!!!! Never again, back to couriers.

Maybe the OP has chosen to call a housemaid an au pair, just like those who refer to their housemaid as their nanny.

Hi Kira sorry to hear your dealing with with - great suggestions made by the other ladies. Also, never underestimate what a dodgy thyroid can do to you, might be worth having it checked just as a process of elimination (TSH, FT3, FT4). Hope you manage to get to the bottom of things and are back to your old self soon.

Watch your kids, be with your kids ALWAYS and be aware of what's going on around you, if someone is taking photos tell them to stop immediately or call security, end of story. Please don't beat this thread up as if Dubai is the only city with creepy weirdo's in it. You are in a different country with a different culture, large variety of other nationalities and things will be different. To sisterscott, Americans are usually good tippers, maybe they were going all out with your kids for that reason, it happens. I would be very upfront and tell people not to touch my kids.

Not sure how old your child is but from about 18 months we found the simplest easiest option for our grandaughter was an IKEA 602.484.18 foot stool. It's allows her to get right up to the table, have her back supported by back of chair and her feet on seat part of chair. It's the perfect height, comfortable, not cumbersome, easy to wipe over and can be put in the cupboard afterwards - she loves her special seat. From a safety point of view before someone jumps on me, our family always eat together so she's never unattended.

For a wedding dress I can highly recommend Queens Laundry in Beach Centre on Beach Road (blue building).

Arch I've been driving a 4WD and a wee Yaris here for many years and never felt inferior or looked down upon when driving the Yaris - if both cars are in the driveway, the Yaris is always my first choice, I love it!!

Pollydxb1 I use one of those big open IKEA shopping bags and it hangs on inside of laundry door, nothing gets squashed or screwed up as it opens so wide, very easy to get clothes in and out, also doesn't take up space. Just a suggestion.

Exactly Preethihappy, no one wants a tragedy! Bottom line is if people take their children to the water park they must be constantly under their supervision, the Lifeguards are not there to babysit. Can you imagine the uproar if they had gone in to help these children and someone else had drowned while they were doing so. I feel for these Lifeguards, damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Well done for helping these little boys - why didn't you take them to their parents and complain about their lack of supervision rather than complain to Atlantis???

We use Al Ain Water delivery whereby you pay for a certain number of bottles, think the last payment I did was for 350Dhs (not sure if there is a minimum amount). The driver delivers what ever you tell him or you can text him and change requirement. He electronically swipes a barcode with how many bottles he has delivered and it comes through on text message with how much credit you have remaining. Very simple and no messing round with money etc. Excellent service and Al Ain water has been our favourite water for over 20 years.

Morning Rescue11, just wanted to share with you that the most positive step I took after years of dealing with medical doctors for 4 autoimmune disorders was to see a Nutritionist with a passion for all things autoimmune who took the time to help me identify and correct underlying nutritional issues - autoimmune is just so complicated/tricky and we are all so very different. There's so much more to getting well than just food alone though, however going back to grass roots and starting with nutrition was the way to go for myself and many other autoimmune sufferers. I wish you nothing but wellness Rescue11.

Beebers I don't go to quacks and until you have walked in the shoes of people with autoimmune, I find your comment a wee bit offensive.

Hi Daza after spending several years doing food eliminations in an effort to help with my autoimmune issues, I could only ever pin point 2 items. It was not until I had the intolerance test done that I discovered things which I assumed were OK and gave no indication that I was intolerant like oats, quinoa, mushrooms, lentils, almonds, barley, yeast, pistachio, they were in fact my level 4 allergen triggers, even carrot and cucumber. The two food items I that I eliminated myself were "knock down" reactions resulting in being barely able to get out of bed and walk for days and I believe there is a bacterial connection/reaction with those whereas the items revealed in the intolerance testing did not give that sort of reaction and so I would never have really twigged they were causing me problems. Food eliminations and intolerance testing have been a huge part of my recovery without having to resort to the awful autoimmune medications.

I'm pretty certain that any GP can do this test. About 5 years or so ago I was told by several doctors "don't waste your time as it won't tell you anything, it's too vague". Things have changed and we are now seeing a change in attitude with food/gut issues being at the root of many health issues.

I think if you live/work at ground level you don't get to see the huge band of brown pollution that's often hovering, it's so much worse on days when there's no wind and when there is wind, with all the construction going on there's alot of fine cement dust in the air as well according to my Pulmonologist. Looking out over Dubai from the 60th floor every day, I don't doubt the survey at all.
