Hey girls, I have to recommend the shop where I bought my pregnancy stuff, they are awesome + cheap: http://pregmamma.com There is also this place, nice collection and reasonable pricing: http://www.facebook.com/BluePinkFashion A little bit more expensive, online order: http://www.blushandbloom.com/shop/index.php A cheaper option that I used for online order but collection is a bit more limited: http://en-ae.namshi.com/women-clothing-maternity_clothing/ They are very quick in delivering, I think 2 days max

I think New Look in Deira City Centre does maternity. That is what I have been told when I asked the shop manager in Dubai Mall. I never had the time to check it out, maybe give the head office a call to investigate?

I think bambini is sold in Carrefour. The Premium range from Pampers is smaller then the normal range, its a white package. The perfect size (in my humble opinion) for newborns is Organic Cotton Huggies. They are so soft and flexible, I almost cried when the supermarket ran out. If you find them stock up!

Hey Umzarinah, I am sorry to hear that a doctor is trying to convince you to do something against your will. I had the same thing happen to me with my first born. I switched at 38 weeks from dr Wafa (Medcare) to dr. George who at that time was head of maternity in American Hospital. He told me that there was absolutely no reason for a planned C-section. My son was born naturally on the day the C-section was planned and there was nothing wrong with him or with my placenta. I still remember the nurse from dr. Wafa calling me, even though I cancelled the C-section, I was already in labor and she was still trying to convince me to come to Medcare for the C-section. If you want a second opinion, please either go see dr. George who delivers in City, or dr. Azizunisa who also has her consultations in City Hospital. Here is the link for Dr. George's clinic. I can not recommend him enough. If you would really need a section, then he will let u know. I trust this man blindly. http://www.genesis-dubai.com In my country they usually wait till about 10 days after the due date if baby is thriving, because it is never really clear when exactly conception has taken place. The risk of C-section if you ovulated late means bringing a somewhat premature baby in this world. Now why would someone want to do that?

Thanks ladies, I sent hubby out to get the La Roche Posay products recommended by Celticcavegirl, of course (he is a man after all) he brought the wrong stuff (body cream) so tonight he will have to change it. I hope the pharmacy carry the toleriane range. I dont have any virgin coconut or virgin olive oil in the house, just delivered and have had no time for grocery shopping yet. We are living on whatever is in the fridge till tonight. :-) I am indeed breastfeeding so no medical creams allowed on my skin for now. I have started using my sons body lotion: stellatopia for atopic skin from Mustella, it doesnt burn as much as all the other moisturisers I have in my cabinet. All my moisturisers are paraben and fragrant free yet they still burn, as if I am pouring acid on my face. I am a bit confused on how to wash my face with bottled water? Do you pour it in a bowl or something?

I think you should check with a doctor yes. Psoriasis usually manifests on other body parts as well, your scalp, elbows and knees are most common places.

Having mixed feelings about City Hospital as well. The doctors and midwives are good, so are most of the nurses on the maternity ward. But .... to be discharged 1 day early because they need extra beds? How is that MY problem? I gave birth on the 2nd (very traumatic delivery) and on the 3rd they asked me to vacate the room by 1pm . I was to exhausted to realise what happened so I packed and went. They didnt weigh my baby on discharge so I had no clue as to what her weight was and if she was thriving on my milk or not. They did charge the insurance for 2 days. My husband is taking it up with them as I dont feel like we need to help City Hospital rip off our insurance company for services we never received. Then, we had to come back the next day to do the heel prick, which should have been done at the hospital in the first place. Very inconvenient trip with a newborn and a toddler and a mummy who could barely walk. Not impressed with management to be honest. I was expecting much much better from them.

Sun and salt water are a miracle cure for psoriasis. I actually thought I wouldnt have any flare ups here because of the weather, but it is actually to hot to go to the beach half of the time, lol. Dead sea salt in your bath and a little sunning on the balcony can do the trick! I havent tried the vitamine D cream, let me know how that goes.

I have psoriasis and it does sometimes show up in the nails. Not much you can do about that. Just try to keep your feet hydrated, put some vaseline and some big cotton socks after every bath, keep putting oil on your cuticles and your nails and at least you wont notice it to much. If it is only on your nails I wouldnt bother with medications, go to the beach: sun and salt water will be more helpful then any other creams. Good luck Ginnee. Hope you are having some good shut eye lately.

Hello ladies, sorry I havent been online lately. I would like to announce the first September baby, born on the 2nd of September. She was 2 weeks early and I had quite a traumatising birth experience so havent been able to come online yet. I dont really mind telling about my experience but I think for the ladies that still have to deliver it is better not to hear any scary stories. My experience with dr. Azizunissa was lovely, she really cares about her patients. City Hospital midwives were very hands on and the nursing staff friendly and always there to help. Compared to American Hospital the delivery room is a lot smaller, less equipped and also the newborn screening was done by a not so baby friendly nurse in the regular laboratory the day after we went home, so you have to make a trip back there. They accidentally discharged me a day early and I was to exhausted to realise it until I got home. Baby was born on the 2nd and the 3rd they asked me to vacate the room. The maternity package does include 2 days so make sure they dont do this to you because once you are home, no more red buttons to press when you need something. :-) Besides the delivery experience and the early discharge I would defo recommend CIty Hospital for its friendly and knowledgable staff. For people who are curious, the total bill for my delivery came to about 12.500 aed, my insurance covered it but then you have an idea what a natural birth might cost at City <em>edited by KenzaB on 05/09/2013</em>

I had a babyshower afternoon tea kind of party at the Royal Mirage 3 years ago and it was lovely. You just have to mention what you can or cant eat, first pregnancy we tend to stick to ALL the rules dont we. I thought the Montgomery Golf club does special" baby shower" lunches. I also remember getting a flyer from Emirates Golf Club about baby shower lunches. Maybe you can give them a call? edited by KenzaB on 01/09/2013 Another option might be Shakespeare? They have a very nice decor and very wallet friendly afternoon tea. <em>edited by KenzaB on 01/09/2013</em>

Ginnee, I still remember it as if it was yesterday, I was around 5 years old and my mother told me the story of red riding hood and the mean wolf with big ears and big teeth. I am 39 now and still not feel comfortable leaving my feet dangling of the bed. Spent my whole childhood thinking a big bad wolf was hidden under my bed.

What I have noticed is that quality here goes up and down depending on the shipment they receive in the supermarkets. We are in pampers active boy only for the night time and there have been times when a whole batch of pampers just leaks and every morning he is wet. Then for months we are fine and have no issues. I have no idea if they ship them from different countries, hence different qualities. I just know that when we have a good batch I usually go back quickly to buy an additional 3 bags. In Europe I like the Huggies but over here I find them quite stiff and papery (dont know if that is a word). Going to try the "organic" hubbies for new baby so will find out if they are better or not.

I would definitely get the black out curtains. My son sees one sun-ray and he is up like a rooster. MOMMY... ITS SUNNY OUTSIDEEEE... WAKE UP... And imagine we DO have black out curtains in his room... The breast pump I wouldnt get at all, I got one as a gift but pumping was never my thing. My boobs never cooperated when it came to pumping they went on a strike. Worse case scenario your hubby can always run to the store. I just want to say that what ever you will need, it is is all in the shop waiting for you and it is much better to buy as you need then stock up on lots of stuff you will never use. That being said, I do think you will need a LOT of newborn diapers and having gone through some issues with the correct size of nappies not being in stock I have developed a certain fear of running out, haha.... About to deliver and I already bought 3 different brands of nappies...

Hi KenzaB I have this one http://www.lakeland.co.uk/17694/Smash-Nude-Food-Lunch-Box Made to meet whatever food combinations you fancy, it has three separate storage compartments – the middle one is sized for a sandwich or two, one end can be divided to look after snacks, and the other contains two removable containers, orange and green are ideal for sauces, dressings or yoghurt (I put fruit in them ;-)) I found this one at the Change Initiative... soOo happy... Gonna check it out this weekend as well. Never thought I could get so excited over lunch-boxes.. lol http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=513199478760675&set=a.315980208482604.72898.305586746188617&type=1&theater <em>edited by KenzaB on 29/08/2013</em>

City Hospital also does antenatal packages, I dont remember the price though. Just want to mention that if you have insurance these packages are not refunded. (no logic at all) So it might actually come cheaper to do single appointments.

So I got my bits and pieces from all the shops mentioned below except 6am and pottery barn. Going to Dubai Mall over the weekend and probably will go through 6am website when I have some time on Saturday afternoon. My son (previously known as the pickiest eater on the block) loves loves [b'>LOVES [/b'> opening all the different lunchboxes and finding colourful fruits and veggies in there, actually he hasnt eaten as healthy in his whole life as in the last few days, I wish I would have done this before. Carrot sticks seem to be a lot more interesting if they come in a decorated bentobox with an airtight lock... haha. He actually goes, mom where are my surprise snacks for today? Whats inside whats inside my lunchboooox? Nashwa, to answer your question, I got a thermos from Bumblebee at Dubai Mall when my son was still on food purees and it works quite well to keep food hot. It is a bit bigger than the one on the picture in your link and has all kinds of cute shapes on it. Maybe you can check it out? I never tested it for cold so cant answer you on that.

Before taking any drugs ( herbal or prescription) you need to figure out what is causing low supply ( or even if the supply really is low vs you being paranoid) If you baby is latching properly and getting to your milk effectively, and you are not restricting access to specific times and durations then low supply is unlikely. If latching is not spot on or you are being restrictive you need to address this first in order for drugs to be effective in boosting supply. There is a dr in Dubai ( dr delphine) who is also a lactation consultant. She may be your best bet should you need prescription drugs as she can sort any other issues too. edited by kiwispiers on 26/08/2013 I do have to agree with what Kiwispiers said. There should be a valid reason for you to think about taking supplements. In my case, baby wasnt putting on weight and after 2 months he was still below birth weight. Once I started on Fenugreek we got the problem of him choking on my milk spraying into his throat because I had to much milk, ugh... always something isnt it... Anyway, nice to know there is a doctor/lactation consultant in Dubai.

All right, a trip to Pottery Barn Kids is planned for tomorrow morning. Thanks DB!! Someone told me to go to Daiso but I am a bit concerned about BPA unfriendly containers there, dont want to sound like an overprotective mom but I really want something child friendly. What are your thoughts on stainless steel containers? I had an emergency tooth extraction when I was about 6 months pregnant with minimal anaesthesia. It took the dentist about 2 hours to get the tooth out (molar) and I cried for a week from the horror afterwards as I felt everything and I couldnt take antibiotics afterwards so it took a loooong time to heal. If you can avoid it, please do, I read there is conflicting evidence and it will only be done in emergency cases. http://americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/dentalwork.html Anyways, I dont know of any adverse effects on my now 3 year old boy because of the minimum anaesthesia I did but lets just say I dont wish this kind of pain on anybody.

I second dr Wael, thanks to him I now have a beautiful 3 year old boy. At DFGC they do have a policy of trying IUI at least twice before IVF, depending on your chances and your age, and yes I did try it twice and it was unsuccessful. We were going to see him again for a second pregnancy and by miracle I became pregnant right before the start of treatment so this time I didnt have to go through any trouble. I told him that this time seeing his face was enough to get me going and he laughed. I did stay with him till 12 weeks as I felt I wanted him to be part of this pregnancy as well. If you want to skip IUI, just talk to dr. Wael and explain why and how, he is very sensible, even if you mention the financial aspect he will more than understand.

Also wanted to add, in hind site I think perhaps next time we will go directly to using a toilet with a seat. Hat makes travelling and being out of the house soooo much easier as my DS was scared of toilets out of the house. The scariest ones are the ones from Dubai Mall, my son still is traumatized by those, they flush automatically as they dont always register a child is sitting on top. That being said, the best baby toilet in the world they have now built in MOE, right next to Hallmark in the new baby room. That is the biggest reason we go to MOE more often now. Haha...

He's peeing in the nappy because he can and there are no consequences. I would simply tell him that he's a big boy now and big boys wear underwear to bed. Make sure he goes to the toilet right before going to sleep and put a waterproof cover on the mattress under his sheet. (Get 2.) He will have accidents at night, especially at first. Expect them. When he does, the consequence is that he must help clean them up. Waterproof cover and sheet goes in the laundry with the wet PJs and underwear. Wipe him up with a soapy wash cloth. Into clean PJs and underwear. Clean sheet and cover on the mattress and right back to bed. I almost posted the exact same thing :-)

I started a bit later, my son was 2 years and 6 months and we started with reading books about potty training, talking about making it on the potty for about 2 weeks before we started. Once we did start there were NO more nappies to be put on. The first day he didnt get it and he was wet all day. The second day he got it but he was never quick enough to get to the potty. So made sure the potty followed him everywhere. Third day he was ready and clean. After that we slowly put the potty further and further away. I have to say I did start a when he was younger and I felt he wasnt mentally ready, so I dropped it after 2 days. It is completely up to you and you know your baby best. One of my friends had her daughter completely potty trained by 18 months as she was ready. As the poster below mentioned, if you believe baby is ready, please persevere, they will get it soon, but I believe in the no nappy policy. Yes it might be a mess but it is a quicker learning process if they actually feel the wee in their pants and they realize how uncomfortable the feeling is. Oh, and I am probably going to get a lot of trouble for posting this, but I gave my son a little chocolate smartie every time he went and we did a potty dance (yes even daddy had to do it, he had no choice) ... very exciting rewards make them want to go all the time... lol

Hello, September due date mums First of congrats for your little angels, hope everything will go smoothly for you all! I need your help, especially ,from those who know or heard about DR .Azizunissa from city hopital,' cause i've been through almost all the forums and two names kept coming back: Dr.Elsa and Dr.Ibrahim but not the name of Dr Azizunissa!Even though she is the department head!!!!! i really would appreciate your help. Thank you. Hi Dahin I think you're spelling her name wrong, try typing it exactly how it appears on the City Hospital website. I know of a couple of people who highly recommend her. I think perhaps as she is the department head she is unable to take on as many patients as the rest of the doctors. If I find some posts I will reply here. Good luck! Haha, my husband is always surprised I can actually pronounce her name... never mind writing it. I think it is Azizunnisa, 2 n's and 1 s. I also think thats the reason her links never show up, coz everybody writes her name in a different way.

need to search for options myself. my 16 month old was happy in his ikea high chair so far but now just starts screaming after eating either half or 1/4 of his meal. rest he wants me to feed him by running after him. he wants to sit on top of dining table and eat. :) Probably only a phase he is going through... testing the mommy borders of patience at that age. Been there and done that. Please dont make a habit of feeding your son on the go because it is a habit that is very difficult to break. (speaking of experience) He will get over it, just stay firm and keep feeding at the table. On the other hand, the chair might have become a bit to uncomfortable for him since his feet are dangling out and have no support, just a thought.

Yes of course. Since this is baby nr 2 I have actually asked for minimum doctor interference as I think midwives can support you just as good until the last minute. I only want the doctor to come in every once in a while and then again when baby actually decides to pop her head out or in case something (god forbid) might go wrong. :-) Dr Azizunissa respects that decision and I really like that. That of course is my own decision, if you want it differently you should communicate that with her.

Okay, both chairs are super. I love the Ikea high chair as a first chair and price quality wise I think you cant go better. We also have the Stokke and once baby boy got bigger he wasnt comfy in the Ikea Chair anymore and he is in love with his Stokke. He is now 3 and we use it daily, and probably will keep using it for a few years as you can keep adjusting the height of the seat and the foot rest as per your childs requirements. I do have to add that I refused the new plastic add on to keep baby contained, I specifically bought the "old" wooden model as that gave more room to my giant boy's legs. I got it in just kidding. <em>edited by KenzaB on 25/08/2013</em>

Salem Kenza Wanted to thank about your Dr Aziz feedback, which came just on time 'cause i have an appointment with her in two weeks for the first time.Just wanted to know, would she follow my pregnancy to the end or there is a possibility that she would send me to another OB? 'cause i don't like change! thanks. She has assured me that she is not going anywhere, please do not stress, just go visit her in 2 weeks and ask her any questions you have. She just had her 2 week holiday last month so I dont think she has any trips planned in the near future. I also dont like to change doctors so I understand.

Hey Kelly Jane.. Let me put your mind at ease directly. I think dr. Azizunisa is fabulous. She is actually the head of maternity at City Hospital and is a fetal medicine specialist. This means, you can have your 12 week scan and your 20 week scan with the same doctor, which I think is much better then going to another clinic. I have been a patient with her since I am 12 weeks and I am extremely satisfied. Not only is she extremely knowledgable but I also like the fact that last week when she was running 45 minutes late, her nurse called me when I was still at home and informed me to come a bit later, so that I wouldnt be waiting in the hospital and losing time. Trust me, most doctors wont even bother to let their nurses call you when they run late. She always takes time to listen and even has a chat with my hyperactive toddler who tries to make amok every time we have a visit. Concerning fetal scans, having had 5 different doctors in my previous pregnancy including dr Elsa, I can tell you this, you will not find a better fetal scanner then dr Azizunisa in case you want a nice head shot after every visit. I think that is a small added bonus. She is also on whatsapp so if I have a concern I just send her a message and from the moment she is free she will answer you. If it is urgent, she is always reachable on her mobile phone. I hope you feel a bit better now, you are in good hands.

Hi-we bought the ibaby and though my darling boy is 20wks, we still haven't set it up! He sleeps in a cot in our room so we don't use it in the night. During the day I found a fantastic app on my iPhone called baby monitor. It doesn't eat battery life, it gives audio and video, has a microphone to talk to baby if youre not there, works through wireless and 3G when our of wireless range, and cheap at £2.50GBP! You need two iphone/iPad to work as a baby station and one as a parent station. I had an old iPhone 3G that I leave with my boy, and I carry my iPhone with me. Just a suggestion if you have a few apple devices-this is fantastic and I doubt we will use the ibaby! Maybe when we move my little man to his nursery? Hmmm maybe... Thanks for the suggestion, will try it when baby girl appears.... So I just set up the Ipad cam and then connect it to the i-phone with the app right? No need for a webcam?

I really like Sera Beauty Lounge as the girl there (her name is Ahlas) really listens to your requests + is creative to add her own personal touch. Never ever been unhappy when I saw her and I am a very difficult hairdresser client. I had the same problem with hair thinning after baby and she always makes me look as if I have some volume on top, lol... what to do... since she is also a make-up artist sometimes she even gives me a full make over, no charge, depending on her time... just because she loves making people beautiful.

On the other hand I am very happy to hear you had a very "quick" birth in the comfort of your own home and both you and your baby are safe and sound. It sounds to me that your doctor is very concerned about insurance, why is that? Have you mentioned to her that you were afraid that insurance wont cover you? Also, why did you have to be induced at a specific date you didnt even like? This sounds very confusing to me as I dont see a connection with your insurance to be honest. I think you are very lucky that your husband stayed so calm and had the perfect sense of putting you in bed in stead of rushing you to the hospital in the car. About the sandwich, I can really imagine how hungry you must have been by then but wasn't there any option for your husband to run down to the cafeteria and get you something to speed up the process. Anyway, thanks for sharing your story and wish you all the best.

taxi? private driver who is paid a monthly salary? Public transportation? Not sure where the stops are on al Wasl but I think there are lots of stops on al Wasl and public transportation isn't what it used to be, a lot more comfortable buses and easy routes. <em>edited by KenzaB on 22/08/2013</em>
