Khatooon, I knitted both my kids all their baby clothes, but we lived in Europe at the time and it was cold. When we came here my youngest was one and he never wore any of them except for a jacket I knitted, which he wore a few times. Like Dramaqn said your friend could perhaps knit cotton dresses. When I was in my 20s I knitted myself a few cotton dresses, strappy ones, knee length or just above, with bobbly cotton yarn. I wish I could find a few patterns online to show you, they were really good and fashionable, even today I think they would be fine (lol not for me anymore though ;) ), I wore them in Spain back then and they were really cool. Few ideas [url=http://s3.amazonaws.com/production.products.styledon.com/12397/medium.png'>1[/url'> , [url=http://image1.oasap.com/o_img/2011/12/23/1695-4424-home/knitted-cotton-one-piece-dress.jpg'>2[/url'> , [url=http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=53388842'>3[/url'> , [url=http://s3.amazonaws.com/production.products.styledon.com/5397/medium.png'>4[/url'> , [url=http://images.littlewoods.com/is/image/Littlewoods/gallery4ColPortraitT?$gallery4ColPortrait$&$prod_img=A251P_SP133_07_273N3a'>5[/url'>, [url=http://styledon.com/products/fashion/j-crew/sweaters/2815-featherweight-cashmere-short-sleeve-cardigan'>6[/url'> , [url=http://cloud4.lbox.me/images/384x384/201111/cotton-wedding-hood-poncho_tvrofy1320205894589.jpg'>7[/url'> I'm not sure there would be a market for knitted baby clothes over here, so maybe she should broaden her scope to cotton blankets, ladies wear, pashmina type shoulder coverings. Oooo that got me thinking of knitted ponchos, I bet there are some on here who had one or two of those in their wardrobes ;) Maybe there would be a niche in the market over here for cotton type ponchos as shoulder coverings in shopping malls. edited by Alismum on 19/09/2012 Thank you so much for sharing the designs. They are very pretty I'll send them to my friend.

I am Iranian and I don't think you should give him anything personal. Some Iranian wives can be very suspicious:D:D I would suggest a nice sweet or chocolate gift hamper from Galleries Lafayette or Patchi with a thank you card. Defiantly not a gift voucher or perfume.

I also gave up with A Small World a long time a go. Filled with too many nutters now that harass you all the time. I used to be quite good for job searching to be honest, now it's not very good, I wouldn't waste the time. Thank you for the advice. Maybe joining is not a good idea after all.

you have to have the red warning triangle and if you don't ,you can buy it at the petrol station next to Tasjeel. You will need an ID to sell your car and please make sure they check your car fines till the current date. I sold my car three months ago and paid all the fines, but when I bought my new car and went to register it they said there was an outstanding balance of 1100 traffic fines on the car I had sold and the fines were not yet in the system when I sold the car!!!!!! Also please make sure to remove the Salik tag after selling the car and then cancel it at the counter. The Salik tag ownership does not get transferred automatically and you will be still responsible for the fines if you don't remove and cancel it. One last advice is to wait until the process is over, take the money for your car all in cash in front of the RTA guys and then sign the ownership transfer papers. And don't accept cheques from the buyer. Good luck

Hi Big Blue, Thank you for your reply. Actually I am currently a member of "Internations" and the same thing is happening to their events. Alot of members especially men think of it as a dating event and the last time I attended one of the events I didn't like the atmosphere of it. I had heard alot about " A Small World" and thought maybe I should give it a try. Please if you can send me an invitation on : khatooon at yahoo dot com. Thank you in advance

It is a critical situation right now considering the job market out there and the salaries that are offered. I cant tell you what to do as at the end of the day it is your life and you have to decide on this when you are 100% sure that you are doing the right thing. All I can tel you is this is what I would do if I were you: if I was truly miserable at my job and hated it as much as you do, I would save up money for a few months to make sure I can support myself if I end up being jobless. Then I would reduce my expectations to find another job. Anything would be better than suffering just because the salary is good. The moment I found a new job I would quit. I would never risk quitting without saving and without a new job. At the end of the day, there is the three months probation in the new job too and you need to have some saved money in case the new job doesn't workout. Good luck and let us know what you decide at the end.

I was the one that said it first... really wish I hadn't now but hey, if you really do love him and you feel that you have to tell him then do it!! Why do you regret it if I may ask? Because when I told him, his reply was that he didn't want anything serious, blah, blah, blah, this was after 8 months. So I ended it there and then. Mind you, thinking about it, I don't regret it. Because now I know where I stand and I am not wasting my time on someone who doesn't want the same as me. One word for all you ladies out there... COMMUNICATION... it's such a powerful thing !! I thinks its really heart breaking if you dont hear it back. I also believe you should read the signs before expressing your true feelings to make sure he feels something in return ;)

Any other comments ladies? None else has said the three magical words first? I did. We were in the car after he picked me up from the airport (we were in a long distance relationship) and the moment just felt so right, I literally couldn't help myself. And he said it back! He later said that he had been waiting for a special moment before I ruined it with my big mouth... And no, he didn't get the upper hand in the relationship because I said it first. Saying I love you wasn't about giving up control, it was about expressing feelings that I had felt for years towards him. We've been together for almost a decade and I certainly don't feel like the weak person in this relationship. *LIKE*

once you tell it first , its a weak point from you << thats how some guys think I think I should ask this question from guys. How would they react if a girl they knew told them that she loves them!!! Guys think if a girl told him ' i love you ' or i cant live without you ' it means he s the who take control of her and so thats a weak point on her .then comes second step as it depend on the relation ... So I guess you wouldn't tell a guy if you loved him! Khatoon , i would tell it in a discreet way , so it show his feeling toward me ;) , just play it smart , little tease is always good Thats a smart way :)

How big is your dog? If this place is scary, then let me talk it over with my DH and see if we could take the dog for the 3 weeks. Thank you so much Skoki, she is a Pomeranian. Thank you so ,much for your offer. you seem like an amazing person offering such a huge help to a complete stranger. I met someone from the Kennel yesterday and he seemed really nice.animal loving man. Apparently they have Animal shows in Ibn Batuta Gate hotel and Westin hotel every week and they seem very legitimate. They are going to send me pictures of my girl to keep me posted with her activities.

My girlfriends and I were saying we would love to go out for a boogie and listen to some good old fashioned 70/80s music but we cant face the smokey interiors. When we have ventured out Ive come back with a hacking cough and foul smell. Anyone know of any smoke free dance spots? you should try Blends in Address marina. The dance floor area and the main bar nin-smoking and the smoking area is separate. They have free cosmos for ladies on weekends too.

The only thing that scares me is that either I like the place of not, this is the only place that has available space and is affordable for me. What if I see something minor that would scare me off?? I would tell him because you never know he might feel the same way but has kept quiet for many a reason. Lifes too short to spend it wondering and if he says the feeling isnt mutual then you know and you can move on. you are right somehow. But I guess like others said, you need to receive some signals from the guy or some hints before expressing your feelings!!

Hi Kahtooon. I would say that she was flirting in some way or another with making some funny comments etc and so there was some chemistry and attraction already, so not a totally neutral start for them. So he probably had picked up on some subliminal message which said 'yes I may be interested' and have him courage to reveal his feelings. Nice story - nice to see men taking risks like that! But usually i would say No. It has never worked for me before and tends to make guys cool off a bit if they feel under pressure. 'l love you' often comes with some expectations. Of course it can work with the right mix of guys and girls but hasnt worked for me before I have never done it myself and don't think I would ever be brave enough to do it. I guess its easier for guys as they are used to being rejected. And we are used to being approached by men, not the opposite.

I'm not really looking for advice here. Its only hypothetical question as the same thing happened to one of my fiends few months ago. Her colleague for whom she had no feelings what so ever, came forward and told her that he was madly in love with her. Knowing the guy as a colleague for almost a year, she knew that he liked him but she used to make fun of him and telling us that he was so not her type. Anyways, my friend decided to give this guy a chance and see how things would go and now after six months they are happily engaged and soon will be married. Makes me wonder if women would have the courage to step forward and express their feelings if they love a man????

Start cooking for him with simple dishes. Try mac and cheese or pizza on toasted bread to start with. Don't follow difficult recipes if you are not that confident with your cooking:) Cooking for someone you love is great and I'm sure you'll be fine with practice.

Khatoon, I just finished reading Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis and it was wonderful and a bit sad, but provided lots of insight into a girls experience of growing up in Iran. Wonder if it will one day be restored to its former glory? I'm really glad to read your post.I love it when people look beyond the surface and try to know a country for what it really is. I was born after the revolution and unfortunately didn't experience the years of glory. However I did experience the affects of revolution and eight years of war. We may never go back to the glory of Shah era, but history shows that poverty, war and corruption wont last forever.

I cant defend my country and the choices of our government, but at the same time I dont agree with the foreign policy of the west towards Iran. What I know is that there wont be was anytime soon, even though unlike what you think Iran has a very strong military support internally and within the GCC. The sanctions have been very difficult on the people of Iran and there are millions of people suffering from poverty and economical difficulties. I truly hope it would all end with a peaceful solution.

If your Colleagues can give me any further information that would be great! thanks for the help in advance! Hi Chellyjellydubai2012'> I asked our receptionist today who is staying with a family in Al Khail gate and she told me that once you are inside the compound you find alot of families who live there and others are mainly company employees accommodations. There are employees from carrefour and placed like that. She also mentioned that there are supermarkets in the compound who do home delivery. She said the apartment she lived in is quit spacious and had a relatively large hall and kitchen. I hope this info will help you.

Ladies, Here is a small update on the flirting advice. I've been myself around the guy that I like (saw him at a gathering on Wednesday) I tried to have more eye contact , smiled a bit more) also have felt comfortable taking the initiatives to plan things. I will be having lunch with him some time this week and will treat him for my new car.( The last time we had lunch, he took the bill) I guess this means that being myself and being honest about who I am is working:D:D That is super Kahtoon ...."taking the initiative to plan things" .... Just please make sure he also plans a few things and takes plenty of initiative too I am really excited to meet him for lunch. As you said I'll make sure he makes some plans next time.

My office is in the same area and I know few of my colleagues are living there. I pass by it every day and it is in the middle of no where and surrounded by labor camps. Not sure about the community itself though. If you have a car then you can easily get out of the area. But I wouldn't walk on that street unless I had too.Its very similar to old Satwa area or deep inside Karama in terms of people who live there. I can ask my colleague about the compound itself and give you a more solid feedback tomorrow.

Hi Kahtoon.... welcome to my world! I spent a long time project managing my men and not allowing my natural femininity shine through. Being single was my speciality (although I am now married :-) So, because I feel that women need help, and I could never find any decent books or anyone to take my questions seriously, I have been writing a book and its nearly ready for publishing. Its a Handbook for Savvy Single Women and I have some chapters which address body language etc. I can email them across to you on condition that you give me honest feedback too as I haven't had a chance yet to check typos and editing. I can email the chapters across in Word format but please don't upload them onto any public website etc as I havent finished it and also own copyright. I really hope it helps! I feel so much for single women. If one has an addiction etc there is usually free support and counselling but anyone suffering from the problems associated with their love life is often ridiculed and forced to pay for expensive therapy. I was hoping to start a Supportive Circle for single women here in Dubai but never got around to it. If you type your email address here I will delete it soon after. edited by hilsbils on 27/06/2012 Hi hilsbils, thank you for your comment and for trusting me with your book.I promise you I will not share it with anyone and will give you my honest feedback. here is my email address: khatoon at yahoo dot com I can seriously use some help here. I don't want to be a barbie type and defiantly don't like to look desperate coz I'm not. But I'm sure I can use some adjustments in my body language. " you don't even walk like a woman" my mom told me last month when she was visiting. No one can be more honest than my own mom.

Here are some tips on how to sell your furniture in Dubai: 1-Take pictures and post them on Dubizzle:http://dubai.dubizzle.com/ 2-Print a poster and write down all the items that you have for sale and put the poster in Spinneys notice board. If there is a Spinneys close to your house. 3-If you want, put a bulk price for someone who would take all your furniture. Alot of people would be interested if you offer a reasonable price. For your dog, I suggest you go with Dubizzle again. Good luck

Thank you ladies, you are right. After searching online I found an article about this that said the bird this stage is ready to be out of the nest and will be hopping on the ground to find food. And in most cases the parents will be monitoring the bird to make sure it wont be attacked by cats or bigger birds. I just drove back home and release the bird exactly where I found it. I hope its not too late and the parents will be able to locate it.

It is hot, but today is the first day it has been so humid. It's not too bad when it's a dry heat with a wind. Now that the rains have started in India, it will be more humid and unbearable. Not too bad yet. Ask again in August. :D (PS I did make a pact when pleading for rain that I would not whinge about heat all summer) August would be hotter and definitely more humid.
