Yep, disappear. If he follows, maybe he tells the truth.... if not, then you have your answer. My guess is, he is not ready emotionally. In the other aspects, he probably wants to have some freedom for awhile... most guys would, in that situation... they are guys, after all ;) How do I disappear? You mean to ignore him and avoid him if he contacted me ?

I was there with some friends and we all had our small dogs with us. I was surprise that they did not have any security guards in the venue. What happened to the little dog could have been easily prevented if they had better monitoring and if they had not allowed the dog without the leash to enter.I feel so sorry for the family who lost their dog. Some people are just completely irresponsibility and as Jadey said , I hope the owners of the big dog will get punished for their reckless action.

Its always better to ask friends to refer a maid to you. I use a maid that has been regular with my friend's family for six years . Some of my friends leave the key with her and she goes and does the cleaning when they are not home. She is from Sri lanka and she is very clean and organised. She cleans like a hotel house keeper and she is trustworthy. I hear stories of people having issues with their maids, but I have been lucky to have someone I can truly trust .

Print up flyers with photo and reward in large print.Inculde microchip no etc. Pass them out to neighbours, maids, gardeners in your area. Put up at all retail outlets in your aera. Contact local vets put up flyers in their offices with microschip no. Put up an ad on dubizzle with the reward. Contact the municipality advising them of microchip no etc. but do actually go around there to physically look as they are not too good with decscriptions. Finally tramp around the neighbourhood yourself with flyers calling and looking. All the best, hope you find her soon. I agree, this is the only way to find her. I hope someone will find her and return her home to you .

My friend is dating a man 7 years her junior. He knows she is older but doesn't look it, she too goes to Dr. Hoshy for the works. He's 47 and she is 54, do you think if he finds out it will matter given his ex wife is 11 years his junior? I'm a bit confused here. Do you mean he know she is older but does not know her exact age ? And whats the role of the doctor here?

There is a great habadashery (sp??) shop in Satwa. Forgot the name but if you drive into Satwa from the teacup roundabout it's on that street on the right. They have lots and lots of different types of ribbon. I know I posted this a long time ago but i had to tell you , I drove in Satwa that dayand the shop you mentioned was the first one on my right and funny thing is that the shop keeper was Iranian and very helpful. Just now I noticed that you had recommended the same shop :)

Being older and not too good with computors my first foray onto EW was a mixed bag. Some of the posters were really short with me and others were so sweet in defending my question. It took an awful lot for me to post again. When asking a question or responding I always imagine the people I am communicating with are right in front of me. Internet communications have good and bad aspects, one of the issues I feel is the anonomous nature of the correspondance. In many ways it does protect you but to some it is a licence to be rude. When I share information I do it because I can,not for a reward or a pat on the back. It is nice when someone comes back to thank me but I dont get bothered if they don't. My gran used to say always roll a stone out of anothers path if you can.One day someone will do the same for you. ;) edited by Nomad on 17/01/2012 I like that

the most obvious answer would be cheaper the better (as that will guarantee that they get sold off fast and u won't have to stand there for too long!) that being said... if you have items in good condition you can always charge a bit more... somethings u just cannot price high inspite of how great a condition they're in... items such as books/dvds... simply 'coz everyone else in the place will be selling them at AED 5/- or less! Thanks for the advice

How do i go about selling my car if i have not finished paying back the loan to the garage/Emirates NBD? I think you should find a buyer who is willing to pay the remaining loan amount and then settle the loan with the bank before being able to transfer the car to the buyers name. Not really sure if you could transfer the car loan to someone else .Try calling Tasweel for complete details and good luck :)

I rather witness this than hearing my neighbour beating his wife at 3 am :( edited by amazingdxb on 21/12/2011 Oh, no. Have you really heard the wife getting beaten?! Yes as my room is next to my neighboor's living room. I believe she was upset as the husband stepped in the apartment at 3 am on Friday night; but unfortunatly it ended up with many slaps, screaming & crying :( They have just moved in a couple days ago... let's see this coming week end. you have to report this to the police . Its illegal and no man should treat his wife that way . I feel so sorry for women who are trapped in abusive relationships .

I'm half way through chemo for breast cancer, i have surgery and radiotherapy to come. I never made it back to Dubai after my summer holiday, I'm in rented accommodation with none of my personal belongings yet other than the suitcsse I brought for my vacation. BUT i value every day more than ever, it doesn't matter to me where I am in the world as long as i'm with DH and my 2 precious little ones - they make me smile, laugh and give me joy every day. We make opportunities wherever we are in life, change can be good even it doesn't feel like it in the short term. Stay positive :o) Hope you get well soon . Stay strong .

Anytime I am feeling down, I remember my friend Darcy. She was a beautiful 20 year old girl who was injured in a head on collision. They had to amputate her legs just above the knee to save her life. Before the accident we all thought Darcy was beautiful, but kind of spacy. I stepped into her hospital room prepared to try to cheer her up. There she was, strapped to a rotating bed, hooked up to IV's. I hesitantly stepped into her view. Darcy's face lit up and she said "Aleeeettaaaa! It's so good to see you! Well, they had to take my legs, and I'm paralyzed from here down. Tomorrow they are going to do surgery and put rods in my spine so I can sit up. But LOOK! I still have my arms! That means I can get myself in and out of a wheelchair and feed myself, and go to the bathroom by myself! Isn't that GREAT!" I was stunned. I spent every day of the next 30 days in the Spinal Care Injury Unit with Darcy. I only saw her get angry once, and it didn't last long. That was 17 years ago and she still inspires me. Recent photos show her on top of a grassy hill, her long blond hair in the breeze, and her smiling suntanned face. She is still in a wheelchair, but she is thankful every day for her blessings. She is a stonger person than me, and I aspire to be more like her. That is so inspiring

Khatoon, Whenever I am feeling down I light a candle,it sheds light and helps me make a connection to God by doing something physical. When I am concerned about family/friends or a particular situation I light a candle and say a prayer.I will light one for you today. I believe that the energy we put out is that which we get back. Be positive that your life will sort itself out the way it is meant to be. On another note a positive story to add. Yesterday my son found a 2 week old kitten next to its dead mother on the side of the road. This little bundle of fur has turned the house upside down, the 3 adult cats are walking around swearing ,my Grandson 20 mths. is trying to love it to death etc. All thanksgiving preperation was put on hold to take care of wash and feed the furball. However we all gave thanks at our Thanksgiving dinner that DS found this little scrap and that we were all together and healthy. All the best and big cyber hugs XX edited by Nomad on 12/10/2011 Thank you Nomad , that is so sweet .

One of my favorite quotes by Buddha is the following: “Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” This quote always makes me laugh :). And funnily enough, I wrote about this quote in my blog just yesterday, and today I spent the whole day in the hospital. I had a really rough day, and at one point I thought I was going to die, I felt so bad. I don't have an insurance, so the ambulance took me to Rashid hospital, even though I was willing to pay for treatment. (But as I was almost loosing consciousness I couldn't start arguing in the ambulance...) I got amazing treatment, everybody was so helpful and kind and I really felt like the doctors and nurses working there did their best to help me. As I was lying at the trauma section, terrified and not knowing what was going on, I just thought about this Buddha quote, praying and laughing, hoping that there is nothing serious wrong with me - and there wasn't :). I just got back home, and I'm feeling so grateful for the help I got in the public hospital, and I am also grateful for my health. In the moment when you feel 'like dying', nothing else matters. You just wish to be healthy and I am so grateful for having my health. So Khatoon, “Rise up and be thankful, for if you didn’t learn a lot today, at least you learned a little, and if you didn’t learn a little, at least you didn’t get sick, and if you got sick, at least you didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” It will all be OK! :) I love the quote from Buddha , it is so true. Thank you so much for sharing it with me and hope you are feeling better today:)

I get asked this a lot and nope I'm not in the least bit offended. Irooni, I've never yet met an Iranian who minded saying he was Iranian when asked about his nationality, and what you said below is spot on with all the Iranians I've met, and I've met quite a few ;) To me where you are from, is where your roots, your blood and veins is from. Which is usually where your parents are from. Where your parents are from effects your upbringing, which in the end of the day makes the you the person you are. I have to add. I don't think people would or should be judged based on their nationality especially in UAE which is very diversified and most of the population are expats from all over the world. I have to agree with what Irooni said. Its a very simple question and has only one answer. I am Iranian :)

Haven't read all the posts but I have no doubt that one of my 'girls' will poo upstairs if she is annoyed (usually if we have left the house without her). If I am going out for more than an hour I leave them in the kitchen for the duration as otherwise there might be plenty of packages for me to come home to. When me moved here my DH went a.head of us and it was a month before the girls saw him. For a full week, every time they got an opportunity they did a pee on his side of the bed!!! They never had done that before or since and I have no doubt that it was a little punishment for him for leaving them. Dogs don't generally soil in their sleeping or eating area as they know its not pleasant. I feel very strongly that some dogs pee/poo as a way of showing their annoyance/upset at something their owner has done!!! Finally, I did read recently that scientists now believe that dogs are more like humans than monkeys and that they are a lot more in touch and in tune with humans than ever though before. May sound like nonsense to some but I for one believe it ;) edited by delvin on 10/10/2011 O believe it too. My dog is such a good girl and usually I have no problem with her around the house. She is almost 8 years old and not a puppy to need potty training . She might be punishing me again !!!
