One of my dogs(out of 3) does pee indoors even if left alone for 1-2 hours....!! We boiled it down to him hating being alone with out human company...so we started leaving the telly with surround sound on wen maid and us all are out...strangely it is working!! fingers and toes crossed! I really like to try that and I hope that is works . I'll do it tomorrow as she has repeatedly pooped in the floor ,last night and tonight :(

11 hours is an awfully long time for any dog to be alone in a house :(. She has just had 10 days of company with her all the time and I bet she enjoyed it immensley. Dogs are pack animals not solitary. It "could be'' that that is her frustration on being alone again. You could try doggy day care a couple of times a week and possibly have someone come in around 2 to take her out....does she have a doggy door so she can get out if she has to go to the bathroom? I have been thinking about adopting another dog so that she wont be lonely . Doggy daycare is not a bad idea too. I line in an apartment and no ,there is no doggy door :(

Depending on how active they are, if they visit the great wall there's a section where you get the cable car up and then take a toboggan down- it's really fun and the view is pretty cool! Silk Market is where the tourists go but I found New Merket, while having less stuff, they are nicer to you and less aggressive with the bargaining. We did great wall and Forbidden City in the same day, I think we paid about 120yuan each in a group of 7 for a van, driver & guide. I haven't done it but I heard you can take a pedicab tour to the older neighbourhoods which are traditional and will probably be demolished for developments soon. Have you checked out Trip Advisor? I usualyl go see what the 'top 10' are and see if they are what I would want to check out or if I'd prefer to do something else. I also usually google 'Best free things/best unusual things to do in XXX' I will have a look at the trip adviser today .

Sorry, dogs aren't that smart (none of them) that they do things for revenge. Check any changes in food or home circumstances, they are the two biggest triggers of changes in behavior (including elimination). Is there someone new in the house, have you changed the food recently, have you changed the dog/person routine recently? If none of the above apply, go to the vet and try to determine why this behaviour has emerged. Punishing the pet (or scaring it by chasing it around with slippers) will accomplish NOTHING except instill fear into you actually entering the home. Why not chase an 18 month old child around with a slipper because it didn't go potty correctly? Same same/. Dogs r very smart, and we should never underestimate their intelligence...it's ABC behavior when a dog is upset wit u they do wrong things around the house. If they weren't smart then how come they work wit the blind, or rescue people, or worked wit police? And the fact that it was the part where Khatoon sits at is a sign that the dog knew what she was doing. Is ur dog used to being alone? I had few of my relatives visiting for 10 days and they gave her alot of attention. Basically she was never alone at home because of them. She had pooped in the past in the house to show me that she is sad or lonely after my folks have left . But it was the first time that she had done in on the couch . And she did it exactly on the part that I always sit at .Her routine has not changed and she is on her old diet . I cant think of anything else but to think that she is getting back out me because the guests are gone and she is more alone in the house now .Just to clarify , I did not chase her with the slipper , I hit the floor in front of her with the slipper .I love her so much and hate being mad at her ,but had to react in some way to show her what she did was wrong.

I'm afraid I have no suggestion as to why she did it, but I hope you realise... a. She did not do this on purpose. Don't take it so personally. If she has never done this before, it could be a one off accident, or even a health issue... b. Screaming at her will have absolutely zero positive outcome. I hope you have calmed down. All that negative/aggressive energy is going to make any problem worse. I also hope someone comes along soon as is able to suggest what to do next. Thank you so much Gree-ish, your message did calm me down. I hope someone with experience would reply too.

We were in Dubai Mall at the weekend, we walked from car park and stood watching ice hockey. Security came up to us and said sorry mamsir but you can not push the stroller in the Mall.. Gobsmacked we just stood there. Lady from concierge desk came running over and shouted at security man and said listen to what I tell you. I said the skateboard over there not the stroller should not be used in the Mall! LOL

I think you should have told him at the beginning that you dont understand Arabic and ask for a different instructor. I passed my test after failing twice . it is very common here to fail the test .You should also know that there is a limit on the number of people who could be accepted everyday in Dubai. maybe they had already passed enough people for one day :) Better luck next time and make sure to request for an English speaking instructor

I always let them take the trolley happily as one Dh makes a big difference in their lives in they manage to get 10 trolleys every day its like one third of what day make in a hole months . I was talking about it with my aunt today , when she asked me why I'm leaving the trolley in the middle of the parking instead of putting it back. Here its not that common to give tips and most of these workers don't make anything in addition to their low wages . It doesn't hurt to help with with such a small donation that gets lost in our daily expenses.

Dogs do not understand languages at all. They understand and memorize the tone of the words and become conditioned to the commands through repetition. They are also more sensitive to the tone and also hand gestures. If you have noticed most commands are a mix of words and hand gesture. When I got my dog , I did not know the previous owners and I had no idea what language she was spoken to before. Now after being with me for three years , she understands commands in Farsi and English ,But I am sure the accent had nothing to do with her undertaking .

I am so sorry . it must be hard watching your cat suffer. I have a dog and if it was the same case for her , I would not put her to sleep . I don't think I have the right to do that . 17 is really old and I am sure the poor cat is suffering but if I were you I would just make sure that he is comfortable and I would give him lots of attention and love in his months.

You can do a supervised play and see how it goes. All depends if bunny has had experience communing with other animals? You'll need to let the rabbit set the tone. Just be aware they are the devil to catch once they're out, specially if they are normally free roaming and not handled much :) Oh, and best to do they play some time before or after your dog has been fed...bunny will smell meat etc, and while they can get on with carnivores happily, they are less liekly to be freindly with a meaty reminder that they are normally the food. I think the rabbit is feeling more secure this morning . when I opened his cage to pour his food , he wanted to come out .And my dog is just lying down in front of the cage and sometimes goes closer and starts sniffing the rabbit :) I will try to introduce them formally today :)

We go to the one at the polo club. Anyone have any other recommendations? We're going again in the morning. They ran blood tests and took an xray and said she was fine. My heart feels so heavy right now - she was my baby before my children. There must be something and I'm surprised that the vets did not find anything!!! Don't worry , hopefully its nothing major . Take her to Al Safa vet in Umm Suqaim for a second opinion if you like. They are really nice.I hope she gets better .

I thought I was the only one feeling that 2011 passed so quickly. Well, I think we are just so busy with life , work and some with their families , that the time passes faster for us.Or we simply lose track of time . Days usually drag , when you don't have much to do at home or that you are bored at work. I remember the time I was working at this horrible Furniture store and the timing was till 9 PM . The days were just too long. The five months that I worked there , seemed like five years to me .

It is always better if you weigh yourself every week or ten days ,as some days you might even gain weight and then drop more the next day . Make sure that you are eating healthy and keep a balance of fruits , vegetables and protein in your diet. Cutting calories is not enough or effective if you are not following a healthy diet plan. Good luck :)

Dear Sima , There are so many dogs available on Dubizzle to be adopted for free. There are also many animal shelters that have dogs for free adoption . My friend has a 8 months old male dog for adoption. We have already put an ad for him on Dubizzle and will only give him to families with children. He is neutered , micro chipped and toilet trained . Size wise , he is a small dog but a mixed breed. Here is a link to his ad , http://dubai.dubizzle.com/classified/pets/pets-for-free-adoption/dogs/2011/7/11/kookoo-in-search-of-a-new-home-2/?back=Y2xhc3NpZmllZC9wZXRzL3BldHMtZm9yLWZyZWUtYWRvcHRpb24vZG9ncy8=&ps=4&page=3 send me an email if you are interested in adopting him , on khatooon at yahoo dot com

Could it be that because your friends have made a mistake, or chosen not altogether wisely in their own lives they want to ensure that you have the benefit of their lessons learnt, without actually having to make the mistakes yourself? Nope . They don't think that they made a mistake . They think , they did the right thing , But if I do the same thing it would be a mistake !!! Does that make any sense ?

I’m surprised and a little annoyed by the way some of my friedns are . If I ask their opponion about a situation or if I ask them for advice. They will talk to me as if they are the wisest people in the world. They give me alot of dos and dont and ack as if they know what I have to do . What annoys me is that I know for a fact that the same freinds have done something completely opposit of what they tell me to do ,when they have been in the same situation. Why is it that we always prescribe a solution for our friends , knowing that we would not follow it ourselves?????

Was at my nail place yesterday and saw it advertised so asked. Its Nail Zone btw, the one on Jumeirah Beach road opposite the beach park... The have the 'brazilian blowout' brand and the associated literature (this is the only place i've found where they have the actual brand in dubai, most others have variations on the keratine treatment). They said prices start at 1500 for like chin length hair. Mine is just below shoulder and she said it would be about 2200-2500. Lasts 3-4 months and you have to use thier recommended after care - a brand called Acai. Apparently they have an offer on where the starting price has been lowered to 1200 and you get the aftercare (shampoo n condiitoner free). Maybe call them and check - 043446969. Thanks a million . That was so helpful
