good lord snowflake, give yourself a minute lol...who said you 'should'keep busy and do charity work, think positive and build a new life lol...back up the truck a minute. This is very normal for you to go through this. Talk to your kids and husband and tell them what is happening to you emotionally so you dont have to do it alone :)..I would bet your kids, as excited as they are, deep down are also sad to be ending this chapter in their life so, share how you feel...its alright :) Your husband could be thinking wild s e x on the living room rug, who knows lol..running around naked lol...ask him what he envisions :) It is tough because you are a loose ends ,,, resurrect an old hobby, take a course but give yourself time to have your life change from being needed to maybe feeling like you are not needed...you are still a mother and they still need you. Your husband can just wine and dine you, take you dancing...walk on the beach...anyway...take your time girl...it will fall into place but let the feelings come and share them...tears never hurt a soul :) edited by SueB on 23/04/2011 love your post SueB.... snoflake, hugs to you, I know that I will struggle with this one day too

You're all quite right..... I've been a bit silly... And there wasn't any butt, just a lot of leg.... As I said, just had to vent :) I'm sure that a version of this has happened to all of us.. Hands up if you have never tucked your skirt into your undies at least once in your life;)

If you don't need it at home, bring it with you. Particularly books and magazines (like wuffles said).... The cost of furnishing a house is not cheap. Bring good bedding and as many clothes for your kids as possible (assuming you have little tykes). Just factor in the temp factor. Whatever you put in the container may very well be baking in the heat when it awaits delivery to your new home... I'd put those hotel shampoos etc in the bin as they may just explode in the container... Welcome! Have a safe trip and enjoy your new life here :0)

perhaps some of the ladies here could give some advice. Firstly, what field does he work in? Does he know recruitment consultants and have they worked on his CV/resume? (never pay for their services by the way). We are coming up to a busy end of year time where expats come and go so opportunities may arise soon. good luck

I think most genuine posters start off with something trivial like "where can I buy marmite?". Actually, I would be highly suspicious of anybody who asked for Marmite... we all know it is an inferior version of Vegemite;)

Folic acid etc.. the best advice, though, is to just be happy (this decreases your acidity level and increases your chances of conception) . The chances of concieving are better if you are.... how do I put it?... satisfied..;)

hmmmm.....If he's the best physio ever and you could not do without his professional services... wait until you don't need him anymore then ask him out. However, if he's a cr@p physio or you could replace him with another equally as good... GO FOR IT.. what have you got to lose? You can always find another physio;)

Boots is a Uk shop? Perhaps write to their headquarters as I'm sure they could use this as a training opportunity for their staff. Customer Service is a vital component of every franchise.

You'll need the original uni certificates and then bring them to a solicitor (call around, only some can do the attesting). Next, you will need to send them to the Dept of Foreign Affairs in Canberra and they will be sent back to you. Ensure that you get the express post as it will be easier to trace. Give yourself at least 3 weeks from beginning to end, sometimes there is a backlog. We did it before arriving and it has saved us an enormous amount of footwork. The total cost should be around $AUD400 (solicitors etc)

arohadxb, you are a Kiwi? The correspondence ed through the gov't is available and may be more flexible than you think. I'm sure that the learning and experiences that you'll have will allign well with the material supplied by the school system. This sounds like a fantastic opportunity! You must be so excited.

Yes. Our landlord sold, gave us our deposit back and said to start fresh with new LL. New LL didn't even ask for a deposit off us and according to neighbours who left while we were staying there, they both got theirs when leaving. So it's not unheard of. Our landlord sold our villa and the new owners wanted to move in. When the landlord wanted us to sign a document saying that we would vacate, I flatly refused until he returned the 12K deposit. Got it back. Have no doubt that we would not have seen a fil of it otherwise...

One of my BF's get this all the time, she just laughs it off now. My bff had this happen to her.... A few months ago, she was fixing my dd's hair and a lady came up to her, pushed my dd aside rudely and asked if she was looking for a new job. My friend looked a little shocked until I stepped in and said "you don't want her, she's cr@p, I have to beat her every morning..."

I would not want to be in your shoes.... Can you hire a part time cleaner? This will lessen the load. Perhaps you can work when bubs is down for sleep-time? I work from home but both of my children are now at school so it's perfect.... Really, when they are so young, you need to enjoy them, they are so much fun... Can you postpone work until the LO is at school?

sorry... sold it.... If you are looking for a good quality 4wd, try the notice boards at Choitram and Spinnys in typical western expat areas. You might jag a 4wd that has only been used for school commutes etc.

Yes, each university has its own entrance requirements and they choose how to recognise the diploma. However, unfortunatley, some universities and even countries like China do not recognise the IB diploma. This is where parents need to do research (and the kids of course)... For example, if your child shows an apptitude in science, it would be good to contact the top universities who specialise in this field and ask them which system they desire more... I love the methodology of the IB system, I think it is more realistic and practical, requiring the students to have a thirst for knowledge. This is essential to their lives. However, until the IB system is embraced as it no doubt will be, I think it is important to research how universities value the IB system (if , of course you are aiming at this pathway)

I like to think of it as the natural progression of montessori. Play based learning which evolves into activity based and project based learning. I would not be surprised if it was the leading form of education across the world in the future. I've always been a fan of this style of learning. Unfortunatley though, the diploma is not accepted across universities as readilly as graduating from the British system... So if you are thinking of a pathway to uni, this is something that parents have to factor in.

In the process of finding the right schools, do check out the not-for-profits http://www.jebelalischool.org/ http://www.jess.sch.ae/Home.aspx I have heard only positive reviews. They have huge waiting lists but your children are young and they might get in. Also, do not underestimate the hassles of a school commute. It can be extremely dangerous and frustrating on the roads here and the closer you can live to your school, the better.

Sooooo, ladies, where can one find a really nice all-in pedi set to take to the spa/salon. After watching that video it made me seriously think about it. I hardly go now, do it at home.... mostly sick of the rude filipinas at the nail spas here. they talk so bad behind your backs....you would be shocked. vp, I got most from Choitram (near the medical section) and the rest from a Life Pharmacy. You should also grab some thin latex gloves as well. If you use an at-home service like brush and co, you can at least ensure that they also have a comfortable place to sit and don't have to listen to them talk in anything but english. Personally I don't care what they say in their own language to each other. They could be calling me anything and they still get a tip.. I feel sorry for them as I get to go home everyday to my family and have a great job.

I will never ever have a mani or pedi here...ever... This is not unique to Dubai but unless I can personally witness them placing the equipment in an orbital sterilizer, it is not going near my feet. I remember when quite a few years ago those nasty, manky quick and cheap nail salons appeared across shopping centres in Australia..... Seemed like every second person I met was limping from disgusting feet fungul infections... ewww Just take a quick look on the web and you'll see this exists everywhere... http://www.beautytech.com/articles/nypost6-24-02.PDF http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJG0ZVyc9jM Ladies, take your own equipment and ensure your technician wears gloves, it's cheaper than a visit to the hospital and less painful than medical treatment.

I can't offer you any employment law advice but I would recommend that you secure your financial position asap... If you have any loans outstanding (eg car) finalise the loan if you can (eg sell it). Drain your local account to as low as possible, even consider drawing out cash to live on. Your DH's employer does not sound very honest (having denied promised entitlements) and may very well contact your bank as soon as his employment ceases. Your accounts would then be frozen... The employer may also place a ban on your DH, stopping him from finding another job here... hope it all goes well for you. hugs

congratulations! I would tell the employer. They can decide to offer you the job (in which case, they are the right employer for you) or they can recind the offer (in which case, they were not the right employer for you) Either way, your business reputation will not be damaged and you get to enjoy your pregnancy without the fear of the inevitible "talk with management"... good luck and congrats again!
