Absolutely no way if you're Australian, which I assume from your user name you are. Unless she is on a company sponsorship and you can sneak her in as a "holiday tourist' you have no hope sorry. We once applied for ours to accompany me home on an emergency basis due to a medical situation, but even then we were told we had to bring an Australian employee over here to accompany me back. :( They even said if I were Emiratee they would allow it, as it was a cultural norm, but as I was Australian - NO.

My heart goes out to you. I too have had two serious misdiagnosis with my children. Once we were told DD had leukemia ( thankfully she did not), and once that she had an ear infection when in fact she had a life threatening brain membrane infection. My only advice to you is try not to accept at face value what you're told, get second, even third opinions and be up front with those around you. You will need their support. Here where most of us don't have family and friends, referrals, advice and even flat out sympathy and practical assistance are very much things you will need no matter what the outcome of the bone scan. Wishing you ALL the very best. edited by Kooky on 05/02/2014

Rant away - that's ridiculous! Actually, no it's not. It's absolutely par for the course for private medical insurers. Remember, they employ large numbers of people on incentivised salaries specifically to examine claims for reasons that will allow them not to pay out. It's one of the deeply unpleasant aspects of private medicine and is one of the many reasons why universal healthcare should be the norm everywhere, with private medicine as an option for those who wish to pay for it. edited by Madge_Gustard on 21/01/2014 Well that's a sorry state of affairs :(

I find it every hard to respond to this issue - my first response is always an emotive one ( and I happen to believe you should never take highly emotive advice at face value). Personally I find it hard to justify cutting off a perfectly normal, functional part of your baby's body for any reason. Ten minutes on the internet (on serious sites) will show you that all the traditional medical reasons for circumcision have been debunked. The cultural and asthetic ones are IMHO not important enough to warrant such an act. We are all mortified at the idea of female genital mutation, but see male circumcision differently. :( Certainly there are cases where boys are later required to have foreskins removed, but this is because of an unusual ( as in doesn't occur often, I don't mean weird or peculiar) issues. Are you really prepared to put your baby through that IN CASE he's one of those with such a condition? Please take the time to research the issue with facts, not peoples opinions. I'm confident any one who does will not circumcise.

I'm speechless. Please focus on the positive thought that at least they have allowed you not to waste another moment of your life on working on a relationship that clearly had no chance of reconciliation. You have the best gift life can offer, a beautiful child. Whether you choose to go to the police or simply move on must be a difficult, confusing choice. I'm so very very sorry. This must be a terrible shock. I sincerely hope you have supportive family and friends at home.

Thanks Madge Custard, but I've googled it to death and all these articles relate to completelyremoving an email address no longer needed (mine is - just not on this machine), or changing the email address the IPad is associated with (not an option as I want to retain the apps). If I delete the main email address, I lose connection with the iCloud documents AND most importantly, the find my iPad function. :( Surely theres a way to keep all functionality apart from the email itself? Anybody? edited by Kooky on 28/12/2013

Help all. This year we got our kids mini iPads for Christmas. I set them up using our family iTunes account so that they could download all the apps we've already purchased. Problem is, that means the email account associated with that iTunes account ( my main email address) is automatically used for the mail program. Whilst I can add their hotmail accounts I can't seem to delete the main address. I can turn mail off completely, but only by using a toggle switch - there's nothing to stop them turning it back on and seeing all my emails. Anyone with a solution? There must be one as surely iPads are often a second or third device and often used for kids!

DUTAC's ticketing system is not only antiquated, but they do not allow children under three in - full stop! Not even for children's productions. The reason sprouted varied from disturbing customers to fire evacuations problems and insurance worries. Ridiculous. Never again and I always warn all my friends who are considering going with children. We live far from MOE and arrived only to find that we were not allowed in. I had some very disappointed older children, but couldn't let them in on their own :(, as I had to stay outside with the younger ones.

She's decided to go home with it like it is and get it checked at the store when she has someone to help her. I can see what you mean about there not being much room for adjustment given the seatbelt securing it. We were reluctant to pull it out now ourselves with the pressure of a tired baby who needs to go home!

I'm not sure what cuisine you are looking for, but Karam Beirut offers a set menu which I think is inclusive of soft drinks and water. I'm not sure of the price, so you would have to call and check with them. Thanks SEY 83, I'm trying to find somewhere licensed - it's tricky as it's a broad group of ladies - some drink, some don't and I'm trying to avoid the hassles that go along with that! Cuisine doesn't matter at all. We just need a place conducive for a get together!

Weirdly dishwashing liquid glows in the dark under an ultra violet light. I think it was morning fresh we used to use as kids - looks great. ` Also you can make your own glow in the dark paints and modelling clay - it came across my newsfeed just the other day. Try google - if not, I'll trudge through my news feed for you. MAking it would be a good activity for an 11 year old!

I honestly believe that one of the most important parenting skills is learning to smile, nod and say something along the lines of "thank you for your input". Then don't engage any further!!!!!! Only you know your child best - but somehow it seems hard to get that across to others.

There are definitely no buses for kids after the after school activities, but usually mums take turns to do a drop off - shouldn't be a problem to share the load if you're living in the Mirdif area. My daughter is 7 so perhaps I can help! There are teaching assistants in the classes too btw - only one teacher, but one or two others, depending on the age of the children.

Hello, my kids are at Royal Dubai and we are very happy there. The class sizes are large, but thats about the same in all schools here. The school itself though is not that large and I certainly don't feel it's the kind of place kids would get "lost" although Gems Silicon Oasis which is the high school they would normally "feed into" is - it's enormous and I don't think we'll go there, but that's a decision for a bit later! I've used the bus for one term when I couldn't drive for medical reasons. I was terrified as you see some horrendous driving from school buses over here. I have to say the service was fabulous and very transparent. I had the drivers mobile phone number etc. Re Mandarin, I'm not aware of any kids schools, but there are often people posting on here to arrange language playgroups/private or small group lessons. There are also of course the adult language schools. Good luck with the move!

It's such a shame so many places here have the maids room with no separate entrance - it really changes the way we live! I let our maid have friends over to stay on occasion, but I've let her know she must let us know in advance and we need to have met that person first. The only exception is of course her family, who live in another country so we can't meet them first! It's one thing to have your maid walk through as you lounge about in your pyjamas, but others? Well, I'd rather know they were coming ! Of course it's a risk having strangers in the house, but it is her house too. I agree go with your gut feeling, but if you choose to let him stay, make it clear it's temporary, and there are rules/limits -whatever you choose to make them.

Awful! I understand that prolonged goodbyes upset the child and those around them, but there is no way I'd leave my child screaming ( which is quite different from grizzling or even crying) or allow her to be dragged off. I don't know about any new laws, but I think you're more than entitled to deal with your drop off as you think is best for your child. I'd strongly suggest you try to ignore the "rules" you're told and focus on whats going on with your daughter. If you think she's better served by you taking her to the class - insist. I would. This sort of thing is really, really stressful for both of you - sorry you're going through it. It worries me too as I started my daughter in Sept but took her out again as she was so distressed it. I thought I'd try again after Eid - I'm hoping you're not talking about our nursery in Mirdif!
