Osya2010, get some earplugs and ride it out and then get her spayed. ....don't create more kittens, you can not guarantee a good life for them here, there are already too many looking for homes... including siamese! if you love your cat, do not make her go through a pregnancy, they are not without complications and trauma for the mum! the heat cycle does not last forever and it is only your ear drums that are suffering!

The Bin Kitty Collective has been established to help people help out animals in distress.... it is simple, animal welfare starts with you and we do not need to walk past when you can be part of the solution. We can help with access to discounted veterinary services, rehoming, and just sharing the rewards of doing just a bit with others! We are having an adoption day this Saturday, March 31, featuring some of the cats and kittens that people have taken the time to rescue and now rehome! We will be at PetZone Vet Clinic from 1 - 4pm. more details on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/188028987947593/ or our open day poster is here http://tinyurl.com/bn2dozf please share the message!

MoriningCat,... it can be hard to tell if the cat is abandoned / just mooching around ... on top of the other suggestions, you can consider 1. quick trip to the vets to check for a chip.. that may clear all things up really quickly 2. asking your helper / neigbouring helpers if they know who the cat belongs to... 3. a few "found" posters in your area just in case in the mean time, water is a really kind thing to do in this heat. if you end up with a potential lost / stray pop a pic and a short message up on the bin kitty collective facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/188028987947593/ .. it may also help find the owners / a new home if needed. best of luck...

we went for a drive around there this am. the fire site stinks really badly, and the school was beginning to as well as the wind was starting to blow over from the fire site towards the school. i still need someone to give me a professional opinion in layman's terms about the appropriateness of the testing. facts as i have gathered them: 1. this is the company that burnt down.. this is what they say they stored / carried http://www.redachem.com/products.html 2. this is the fire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHNOHlp52hg&feature=related 3. our kids are back at school based on tests the school conducted which looked at only 4 of a possible 117 elements in a few different compounds and "volitile organic compounds"...... was 4 comprehensive enough? anyone?

is there anyone on this forum who is a chemist / someone qualified to make an informed comment about the appropriateness of the testing they conducted?? i am no rocket scientist in this area, however i saw the copies of the air quality tests they had pinned to the noticeboard, and they have effectively only tested for four different elements in a few different compounds.... they looked for sulfur, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen and "volatile organic compounds"... it just not seem to me to be a broad enough level of testing... if there is anyone out there who can help me understand why there is no search for the compounds that were reported to be stored there in the national article http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/factory-denies-poison-gas-threat-as-school-closes it states over 70 different chemicals were stored there, including "large quantities of chemicals derived from cellulose, synthetic rubbers and polymers that are used in cement modification" ... surely the safety tests should be more comprehensive than the ones conducted? anyway... i am hoping for some expert feedback here.. anyone?

green-ish... my apologies for my slur to the pet section, i should have been more specific.... in terms of rehoming and lost pet messages etc, the main board has always had more traffic and i get more results from it... i obviously do a lot of pet related stuff, yet rarely remember to venture there... i take back my nasty words and say sorry x

they are awfully hard to walk by aren't they Kristina_rmnv... good luck with the rehoming. it is not that big of a deal to do if anyone has ever thought "maybe" when you see yet another of the many on the streets... taking in one or two every now and again and giving them a chance at better life will make a massive difference to the suffering here

yes Princess that is what happened. guilty as charged. i have been socialising and rehoming dogs and cats since i arrived here 7 years ago. i also have a full host of my "forever" own, if you need me to justify myself. chloe and murphy are from a colony that a lot of better people than me have spent months cleaning up, desexing, providing veterinary care for and feeding regularly. this is all out of their own pockets and precious family time. unfortunately, people seem to think dumping their pregnant cats there (and anywhere, i am being cynical) is ok, so we have an ongoing trickle of mothers with kittens who we do our best to get out of that situation, and if the mothers are also re-homable we take them and re-home them. otherwise the mother is returned desexed and the kittens rehomed in order to keep the size of this group down. if anyone has some free time and wants to help, it will be really appreciated and you can contact me on kyliejoy437 @ gmail.com

these kittens were taken from a fairly wild mother.... and we have spent weeks socialising them with other cats, kids, dogs etc so that they don't spend short lives miserably on the streets. now they can live as pets. they will only go to responsible homes where desexing is part of the deal. but go on, keep on with the muck stirring as you are giving my thread more hits than i could ever have hoped for!

chloe and murphy are two 3 month old bin kitty specials who are ready for their forever family. affectionate and low maintenance, these cats will be happy to live in the garden and give you cuddles galore. if you would like to meet them, they are in the green community. there is no fee for adoption, however a donation of dry food to feed the stray colony where they were taken from would be really appreciated! interested? contact me on kyliejoy437 @ gmail.com http://tinyurl.com/3rfv722

SkyKitty, have you asked feline friends for help with rehoming if you take them in? that should help you out so you are not stuck with them, the other way is to do it yourself - cute pics on dubizzle tend to help a lot. good luck - taking them in will give them a much better chance in life than leaving them on the streets

Punkt has been born and raised with kids, other cats and dogs around him. We introduced 2 more kittens 2 weeks ago and he barely batted an eyelid. He lets my part retriever rescue dog mouth him.... he is a super little boy. You are welcome to just see him, no obligations... we are in the green community and email me on kyliejoy 4 3 7 @ gmail.com for directions if you want to drop by

yes... well... in the interests of keeping this thread going i won't elaborate on what i think in that regard. if they are barking and being a nuisance that way it may help your "case" for intervention. you are doing the right thing by speaking up... that is the most important thing right now.

hi....i have not done this directly myself, however i do think from second hand reports that it will ensure the owners get a visit and official "advice" on how unsuitable this is (if there is no shade / water / appropriate sanitation)..... and they do follow up if the advice is not followed.... good luck.

i am glad she is getting better. nothing worse than a sick little one! those working on the rescue side are often just holding back a big tide of suffering... i would not be to hard on them as they are trying to make right the wrongs of others...some details will fall through the cracks. i know i have done the same. upside is a little kitty now has a loving and responsible home!

poor kitty, i hope he / she recovers quickly. i have had nothing to do with friends of animals direcly, however they do a lot of rescues it seems. there is a very good chance the pet passport was supplied by the "family" who "surrendered" their kitten.... and they passed this paper work on to you. vet emergencies go with having a pet, no matter what the pedigree (or not).

Mareas, there is a very good chance that she is close by. on top of contacting vets, try: 1. a leaflet drop for your entire neighbourhood with her pic and a generous REWARD on the flyer. consider also making it multi language if you can / can get some help 2. look around your immediate area at first dawn / just after dark. she may well be hiding 3. knock on your immediate neigbours doors and ask them to check any storage / garden sheds in case she is accidentally locked in 4. spread word of mouth via the maid / helper / guard / gardener network...it helps to have other people keeping an eye out good luck, there is a very good chance you will find her. kylie ps leave a bowel of water and food out in your yard / front door as well just in case she is hovering and scared or confused

busyjo... this must be a horrible time for you, hopefully he will be back to you soon. i lost one of mine not far from there - searched all day with the car and not luck... got him once i was on foot as he was scared of the car and hiding from it. just something to think about. it may also help taking another dog with you, particularly if he has a doggy pal whom he is fond of good luck!

sorry he has gone missing. it is really hard when this happens. a suggestion, and you may have already tried this... search in the desert with another dog(s) if he has a friend he is really attracted to it may help him get out of any hidey hole he is using, and there are heaps of such in the desert

bump up for this little boy...he is a real sweetie but we need to place him as I have a mummy and 5 kittens that are due here any day now... He is cute, healthy, used to kids, other cats and dogs.... all of this socialisation means you have a kitten who will just roll on in to his new home like he has always lived there and cuddles will be on tap!
