Thought it would be "that" school. They've been doing it for years.

Thank you for the replies. She has been the most perfect daughter anyone could wish for so to change all of a sudden is hard to deal with. We have always spent a lot of time together and this has now stopped. Its so heart wrenching, I feel like I have lost a best friend and daughter at the same time. I have also found a lump in my breast and have a appointment with a surgeon tomorrow. I was desperately trying to resolve whatever is going on with her before I go as I don't want her to feel bad that shes been mean to me if something is wrong. Shes is very happy with her friends and doing really well at school in fact she's just been predicted all As at A level so no issues there. I do remember what its like to be 17 so I am trying to let go but its so hard :brokenheart:

Someone has taken my kind, sweet, caring 17 year old DD and replaced her with a grumpy, eye rolling, snappy, insensitive brat. It seems like she hates me. I have tried talking to her but she just says that nothing is wrong. Has anyone else experienced a total personality change from a teen?

Anon they can be seen blowing up their bike tyres and mopping their floors, the Beeb has documentaries on them., fascinating stuff. Then all of the UK must be upper-class then! Where I come from (the USA), we always viewed British people as sounding upper class because of their accents. After moving here and actually meeting real British people, I learned that that was not the case! The upper class of the UK are usually titled and own vast inherited estates and or lots of land. So would Sir Elton John be considered upper class? No as he did not inherit his title. Think Lords and Earls titles that have been passed down for generations.

For me, it's actually a class issue. Upper class people treat everyone that works for them with respect and lower class people don't. I doubt very much that there are any upper class expats in the UAE. I don't agree with that - I've met many people I would consider upper class. What make you think they are upper class ? Usually the way they behave. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said what you would consider "upper class" Real upper class are a strange breed not normally seen around these parts.

Make the most of what you have. Home is always there; the people at home tend not to change. Think of all the good things about Dubai and maybe book a trip back home so you have something to look forward too.
