Just stop eating !! its that simple. I just lost a stone in two weeks now i'm 8.5 stone, my ideal weight. No. Wrong. Very wrong. Please don't even suggest it! For healthy weight loss, unless extremely overweight, nobody should aim to lose more than 1-2 lbs a week. If you stopped eating and lost so much weight in such a short space of time you have simply lost water weight and muscle which is foolish and unhealthy (unless you were sick, in which case that is obviously different but by the way you have written it would seem you did it voluntarily). Once you start eating properly again it will all go back on and most likely more. Im just giving the OP my experience of the fastest way to lose weight. There is no science to losing weight you just eat less. I do this every year before Christmas, I'm too busy to eat so I pick. My tummy shrinks and then I just continue with smaller portions. Two weeks of eating less won't hurt you in any way, shape or form. In fact the opposite applies, eating a ton of food and drink over christmas is far more damaging.

What happens if a Muslim expat wife residing in the UAE decides to separate/run away from her husband and take the kids with her? If the husband calls the cops, what's next? My friend is having issues and asked for my advice. I don't know much as I haven't lived here long enough. If she leaves to a hotel or whatever, until she figures out what to do next, what are the repercussions? Nothing will happen if she's a Muslim expat.

I would have a look at other schools as well. Repton and Foremarke are the same company. The best schools in Dubai have waitlists and the not so good schools don't. I would look at Kings or JESS to get a comparison

which do u think is better? JESS has been here for years and has always maintained a great reputation and a quality education. Hartland on the other hand has only been running for half a term and the fact that the head has already left speaks volumes to me. So one vote for JESS

http://www.viscountbeaumonts.leics.sch.uk/National%20Curriculum%20Level%20Expectations.pdf The link explains the levels Year 1 (age 5-6) = 1b / 1a Year 2 (age 6-7) = 2b Year 3 (age 7-8) = 2a / 3c-3b Year 4 (age 8-9) = 3b Year 5 (age 9-10) = 3a Year 6 (age 10-11) = 4b These levels are for state schools, most children in private schools work well beyond these levels. So a year 2 child would achieve a level 3 and a year 6 child could be working at level 5/6

I would also put them back a year. They are the youngest in the year above it would be much better to be the oldest in the year below (which would be the correct year for their age)

I too would like to know what has lead to the negative comments on Repton. I have visited the school twice now for my daughter for Fs1 for Jan but lots of comments here and confusing. I actually really liked there junior section. The negative comments always get deleted so no one can give you a honest opinion. Its better to go with your own feeling rather than worrying what strangers say on a forum. If you don't like it you could always move later once the better schools have space.

It's a fluctuation/ correction linked to foreign currency. Fluctuations in property markets rarely have an impact on rental prices in the short term.

I know I'm reviving somehow old thread, but wondering if you have kids at Hartland? I'm considering coming back to Dubai and looking for a decent school to enrol my kids in, based on your high appreciation for Hartland school that's why I'm asking, beside I have an acquaintance that not that impressed with the school due to school bus hiccups, long hours, and her DD having a daily issue with with her teacher and now she is fed up with the school. I'm asking you as I don't know the ins and outs of this acqintance and I don't want to have only her point of view based on 10 min convo on Facebook So, any advise? Views? Thanks in advance When this thread was created the school had not opened so views were purely based what people thought it might be like. Not first hand experience. If you decide to move back why not start your children off at a more established school and then more to Hartland later once the teething problems have been ironed out?

I think there would be lots of parents willing to pay. This type of trip is also happening more often in the UK, parents need to work, school holidays are long so the schools offer more ski trips and other non educational trips.

You could try a low GI diet as well as stopping dairy to keep you blood sugar from spiking. Also buy some Biotin vitamins and Krill Oil, I swear by these vitamins its like botox and a face lift in a tablet. all my friends have noticed a massive difference in their skin since they've been on them.

Sounds like your hair has been over processed. You will need to get a trim to stop the ends matting. The hair is not falling out it's breaking off, but dont worry there are lots of things you can do to help get the condition back. Try not to wash your hair or blow dry it too much also you will need to keep your hair out of the sun, the sun will bleach it even more. I suggest smothering your hair in olive oil and leaving it on under a shower cap overnight, olive oil and coconut oil penetrate into the hair shaft which will smooth the hair a bit. You will need to buy Redkin extreme shampoo, protein and moisturiser (they are the best) this will start to repair the hair that has been stripped of all its moisture. You can also buy some fish oil vitamins. I think krill oil tablet are the best and they REALLY work. HTH

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have asked my son's why they like the school in the UK over their Dubai school and they both say it's because 'it's easy!'. They both say that they are now covering topics/subjects that they did in Dubai last year so it makes them both look good in class and the teachers are full of praise for them. From a parental perspective, this is obviously upsetting to hear as we thought that coming back to the UK for their education was the best thing for them. From what they have said, this is not the case as we feel like they have been put back a year. Today we have told them both our thoughts and feelings about wanting to return to Dubai and asked them both to put their thoughts/pro's/con's down on paper for us to discuss tomorrow. Is it a state school ? Maybe they weren't put into the correct set for their ability. It seems like a strange reason for children to like school, usually children find school boring if the work is too easy. Maybe look at moving back, you have winter to get through and if you are miserable it will only rub off on the children.

I would be asking the children why they prefer a school they have only been in for a few months over a school they attended for 6 years. Children are actually much better at knowing what is good for them than we give them credit for. Have you thought about booking a holiday during October half term to Dubai so you get the best of both worlds?

The reason why I suggested going down a year is because your child will have missed half the year by the time you arrive in Dubai. The UK curriculum is ahead of the American system at junior level and I think its ahead of the Australian curriculum because British schools start formal learning a year earlier. Your son will only have a few months at junior school before he moves up to secondary in September 2016. That will mean moving schools twice in 6 months.

In the UK the cut off for the year is 31st of August but I think its later in Dubai, around 17th September. As your child's birthday is at the beginning of September I don't think there will be a problem with him going down a year group. Good luck

Fairydust, there is a massive difference between someone from the UK who [b'>chooses [/b'> a career in the Army compared to a refugee fleeing a civil war with lunatics on both sides. When western soldiers return they have homes to go to, healthcare, money from the government and a chance of gaining employment in other careers. What have the Syrians got to go home too? 80% of all businesses have gone, the economy won't recover for decades. Children are not being educated. Their homes have been bombed, its a mess. If the west is not to blame for this mess.....who is?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34172729 Germany has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the EU at just 6.4 percent also the population is falling. Germany's population will shrink from 81.3 million in 2013 to 70.8 million in 2060. Fair enough and I stand corrected on that. But still, it doesn't give people the right to demand to go to certain countries, walk in the door, expect to walk into a job, have a house over their head and benefits. Sad to say, it's turning out a LOT of the so-called refugees, are not at all, but economic migrants. As I've said before, genuine refugees in desperate need of help, deserve all the help they can get and that's how it should be. All these other people are just opportunists. What's also sad to see are the sheer numbers of young, able bodied men in these crowds - go back, pick up arms and fight for your country! Germany is the richest country in Europe they opened the doors so these desperate people can come in knowing full well they will have to house them. Of course there will be a few from countries considered safe but Germany has already said that these people will be deported. I find it shocking that you would expect the men to stay and fight for their country when the choice is to fight for ISIS or Assad !! The Arab spring would not have happened if the US and Europe had not meddled in the ME in the first place.

If it was me I'd go to the nearest "safe" country and then take it from there. Yes, and so would I. As I said, I don't think one can pick and chose when at the mercy of getting help/refuge. Whether you like it or not, the current world is made up of countries with borders. Most people cannot just like that select where they want to live. Yes, if you have money (and a lot of it) you can live nearly wherever you want. Us others usually live where we work and are at the mercy of the employer/sponsor/husband. I would LOVE to live in France. At the moment it is not possible due to the practical reasons that I cannot master French and we cannot afford to move. So we plod along and hope that one day we've worked hard enough to realise our dreams. Why shouldn't they chose where they live? They know Germany will take them, they know they have a great healthcare system and schools. They know they will be housed and they know they will find work.

While there are clearly a lot of people in need of help it would be better if the help could be means-tested like all benefits in Europe usually are. There should be no benefits for people who have savings/money. I do agree that Europe should be looking after own first. I don't think one should be allowed to pick and chose where they want to live when they are asking for help/refugee. Any European country should be fine, shouldn't it? The "I want Germany", "I want UK" etc demands do not sound like genuine cries for help. If you were in the same predicament what country would you go to?

For every person that leaves ten more come in (if not more) Is that a fact, if so where did you get that statistic? Many western expats seem to be moving on due to cost of living and schooling. No not an exact figure but as the population increases each year its obvious that more people arrive than depart.

Thats like asking "What is the BEST lipstick?" MAC...Viva Glam :) LOL, for me it's MAC's 'Honeylove' Also as for these Hartland posts praising it to the heavens, how can people review it based on ZERO experience? It's like people raving about a movie they havent seen, just because the movie producer & director say that its going to be a good movie... of course they're going to say that! edited by sourskittleashnut on 06/05/2015 The internet is a great tool. Do all the due diligence yourself and don't take advice from anonymous people on a forum. The best way to see if a school teaches well is to look at the children's school books. What are they teaching, are the books marked, how much work are they doing in class and how much is homework, what textbooks do they use, how often do they have Maths and English a week, how long are the lessons? Everyone has different expectations from a school. Its better to do your own research IMO
