Dr Ibrahim at city hospital he is amazing and so calm and reassuring ... would never have considered a male gynae before but have been with him for some 3 years now and would never go to anyone else ..... I wonder why my recommendation for Dr Ibrahim has so many dislikes but others for him don't I find that very strange everyone who has disliked this post ..... he is an amazing doctor and I have been through some tough times with him .. Each to their own ........... Lakes Lucy, I am using dr Ibrahim to have my first baby ... He is the most chilled out doc I have ever meet... He was highly recommended to me through a friend. I think the people that dislike your post haven't meet him or are really scared of seeing a male gynie.... And need to grow up. One I would avoid is dr lutha at Medcare .. Ended up arguing with her as she was determined that I had high blood pressure of which I don't . Yes you are right and I wish City Hospital had been open when I delivered because I had a female gynae in American Hospital who did a colposcopy on me and it was shockingly painful have since had 3 with Dr Ibrahim and not felt a thing ... I was always scared of male gynae's until I met Ibrahim and he is fantastic and so calm I would never see anyone else ..

Hi ladies, I just wondered if any of you might be able to help. Sadly I just lost my mum to bowel cancer a few weeks ago and we only justs realized that there is an alarming amount of family members in my mums side of the family who died of the same type. I've been advised to get a colonoscopy to check myself. We will also be checking with a geneticist to see if it's hereditary but I don't really know where is best to go in Dubai. I'm hoping no one else has had to go through something similar but if anyone can recommend a doctor who specializes I would be grateful. Thank you x Hiya I have suffered from Ulcerative colitis for many many years and today I had my regular Colonoscopy with Dr Mazin at the Mediclinic in Dubai Mall .... he is absolutely amazing and so so nice I would recommend him to anyone First time with him but certainly won't be my last ... the way he treats his patients is second to none Good luck

It's not the LL's but the greedy real estate "professionals" who are driving the prices up and make sure all LL's are on board with them. All of them need to be taught a nasty lesson in being humble instead of being greedy.... With all due respect not all real estate agents are greedy .... Landlords decide what rent they want and yes they are asking ridiculous prices again but it doesn't matter what we say they want the money !!! Villas sit empty because of LL greed .. Yes there are agents out there that are pushy and only want their commission and encourage the LL's but we are not all like that ok ... Im not ...

The agents here are lazy bandits! Prices are inflated, they do zero work and lie. We hear this all the time from friends who have bought or are looking to rent. We are also in the same boat and have yet to meet an agent who is honest or is hardworking or who will return a call. I really wish the owners who are leasing properties would realize that this agent game is a scam. Perhaps we all need to advertise when we're looking to relocate that we deal with owners only and put these real estate sharks out of business. Phew! I am an agent albeit new one but have lived here for a long time and you are sooo right about agents ... and landlords unfortunately do inflate their prices which is ridiculous .. I work very hard and always return calls and so do my 2 colleagues so if we can help at all feel free to contact me

I would love a 4 bedroom...but unfortunately our budget may not permit it... our upper limit is 170K... so in all fairness I think we would only qualify for a 3 bedroom... Mama bear - thank you so much for the response but Falcon City would be way out of the way for me... since our kids go to a school near safa park I would need something on this side of town... Thank you so much for your responses I am in real estate now so if i can be of any assistance please let me know

Hi everyone, Coming to Dubai to visit relatives for 10 days in April. My son is 2 and I'm thinking of renting a toddler car seat for him from rentacrib. Just wanted to know if anyone has used them, and what their experience was like. I'm a little wary of renting a car seat, as I won't know if it's ever been in an accident. Any advice, much appreciated. Many thanks! I have one you can borrow if you like ... its a britax renaissance bought from the uk and never been in any accidents ! LL

So will the new school go ahead at all then? Will JC stay the same or just become a vocational school? What about the fee increase? They are building a school on the new campus but its only primary this year and secondary to follow next year in fact the site it coming along very quickly JC will just stay as it is and we and the children and teachers are all really happy about this and i see no reason why the fees should change in fact we have just had an increase. So happy and yes we had a great turn of with the forms ...

I am so happy I could cry actually I did shed a tear or two .... When I read the letter I said Wow we did it ... I think we put alot of pressure on them and it worked ... I don't see any reason why they should hike the fees up now and anyway we just had an increase .... If they need money for building the new school there are lots of schools that may face an increase but we are not alone there ... This is fantastic news ...... its made my year !!! edited by Lakes Lucy on 15/01/2013

For that amount of money you can send your child to good private boarding schools overseas. Dont have children in that school but really feel bad for parents who do. Its very disruptive and worrying to any parent. Best of luck and I hope there are positive results somehow. Thanks for the kinds words

This may just be business to Mr Varkey but it is our life! Getting a place in school in Dubai is hard enough and you consider yourself lucky when you get your kids into one where they are happy. Don't think it would be that easy to find another for 3 children in Dubai so may just have to go home if this happens as we're not willing to pay Mr Varkey's 'tax' of an extra 60,000aed in school fees I feel the same Denny but we must be positive and fill our forms out in the hope that it has some effect on their decision really we must all stick together because in all honesty I don't think there are many people here who can afford these fees... i feel for you and know what you are going thru

There are lots of other schools in Dubai you could send your child to, is there not? Dinks there isn't a huge choice in secondary schools unfortunately and our kids are all very settled at JC and have been for a long time this causes alot of disruption and uncertainty for our children

Please dont get sidetracked form the issue. If you have an issue with the fee increase proposed by JC - I implore you to respond to the survey. If you have an opporunity to let KHDA know through the surveys issued this week about the proposals then please do. Truth is - no matter what allowances are included, or are not included - no one enrols their children in a school and expects the fees to increase that much. So let's work together to send JC a collective - NO WAY. Well said let's hope our input counts !

You must must must must - fill in the survey and return to JC. Under KHDA rules - JC and JPS are required to demonstrate to the KHDA that they offered the parental body an opportunity to comment on the proposed fees. If we all just grumble rather than act they will get these fee increases through. Everyone at JPS that received the KDHA survey - please fill it in - don't be shy about saying that the proposed fees are astronomical and a joke given the facilities and the teachers have not improved. The only people that benefit from the fee increase are the oweners of the greedy esurient money grabbing shambles .... masquerading as a educator. We had our heart set on JC, and I never looked anywhere else - now I am looking furiously. What can other mums realistically recommend for high school for September 2013? Don't give up on JC we are hoping that w can make a difference and they would not have sent us this opinion form if they were not interested in our views

"Everyone wins" is such a startlingly insensitive comment that I can only assume you're connected to GEMS in some way. I know it's assumed by school administrators and landlords that everybody here gets handed as much money as they need for school fees and rent, but it's not true. You would do well to remember that. Not connected with GEMS but understand a good business move when I see one. If I was a housemaid I would be targeting 'white' expats as they are soft and the same with a school owner....he is doing it because he can and he will succeed, he always has. I would not do well to remember anything you write, I get no fees paid because I am not on a fancy expat package, but hey ho, who cares? It is all about supply and demand. I think that is is a very immotive subject and I think if you have nothing nice to say then best you don't comment .... I have had more s$$t thrown at me these last 8 years to last anyone a lifetime and to think that my eldest boy loves his school more than anything else and cried his heart out last night for fear if having to leave and for my youngest who finally would have the opportunity to be with his eldest brother at school this is gut reaching ...... Nobody benefits except mr varkey himself !!!!

IMHO is makes perfect business sense to do this. There are plenty of parents/companies who will and do pay fees like this. By charging these fees, Mr Varkey can offer students in another school of his fees of Dh12,000 (12 monthly payments). Everyone wins. Well some of us can't afford this unbelievable hike in school fees and will affect all of my 3 boys ... they are trying to relocate when to be honest there is no need we have a fantastic school so why unsetlle everyone and move .... i hope everyone is filling in their forms i handed mine in today and the school are hoping that everyone will send theirs in because they feel that our opinion counts

D'you think GEMS feel they have an (EK) captive audience? DH's co have not increased sch fees allowance in 4 years.... Like our housing allowance are we the only people in this situation? I think alot of EK kids are at Jess but yes certainly there are alot of EK children at JC but to be honest EK aren't exactly generous with housing or schooling and we have only had an increase around 2 years ago ... We're at GEMS DSO and a high percentage are direct billing EK for sch. From friends I have EK cover housing, DEWA and at least 80% of sch fees and still they complain! i think you will find that those allowances are mainly for pilots my husband is the same grade but he does not get all the perks of a pilot unfortunately !! edited by Lakes Lucy on 07/01/2013

I went to the meeting when this relocation plan was first proposed to parents before Eid, and I think the senior management from JC and GEMS were surprised that many parents were not totally enthusiastic. Since then there has been, to some extent, some backtracking by GEMS particularly as they are now canvassing opinions. So fill your questionnaires in and return by Sunday!!! You never know we may be able to influence the decision. The big fee increase is totally unjustified, GEMS should pay for the new buildings, fields and auditorium out of their profits. So let's keep the momentum going on this discussion and see what we can achieve!!! Well said Sally i think we should definately stick together on this matter
