I doubt this will be of help, but we have friends who are no longer in Dubai, but when they were here, this is where they lived. Thanks Sue for that... we used to live there 7 years ago too . I just want to know if anyone knows the going rent for them at the moment and if any are maybe available in the next few months thanks for replying though

MIRDIFMUMMY i have had more colonoscopies than i care to admit as I have suffered from Ulcerative Colitis since I was 18 many moons ago. You have nothing to worry about you should feel no pain at all as you will be in a lovely sleep ... I have had most of mine in the Uk and 1 in the American Hospital with Dr Dinesh who is wonderful. When i had the one in Dubai I do remember saying to them I should be asleep and they just gave me more sedative and that was that. Just don't be afraid to say something ok. As other Ladies have mentioned the night before Laxatives are far worse and in my opinion worse than the procedure itself. Keep you chin up and if you need anymore advice feel free to shout !! LL

So we are in a slight predicament at the moment. We are going to the USA for the summer holidays. We are booked on an Emirates flight from here to the UK and then from the UK to US we are booked on American Airlines (operated by BA). The predicament is that we have today found out that as we are flying with two different airlines our luggage cannot be booked straight through from here to the US. Our connection time is only 1hr 30min so we will have no time, once we have arrived, get through immigration/customs, collect baggage get from terminal 3 to 5, check in, go through immigration again and board our flight. So we tried to find out if we can change our flight to the UK to the day before and we can but for Dhs. 6000 (EEK!). Also, as we are going through immigration our thoughts are that we are technically entering the UK therefore require a visa. We didn't before as we would have stayed in transit. So I have called everyone - airlines, UK visa place, travelocity etc. and no one actually can give me the answers I need. We have thought to travel with hand luggage only therefore not need to go through immigration then just buy everything there but on the way back we will have the same situation except we will have a longer connection time therefore able to do all of the above. Now my queries are: On arrival can you get from terminal 3 to 5 without leaving the airport and remain in transit? Will we make the next flight within 1hr 30min if we only have hand luggage and don't need to go through immigration? For the way back do I need to get a visa even though all I want to do is get to our next flight back to Dubai Hope i'm making some sense and any advice would be appreciated. I would like to try and call Heathrow but it's one automated message after another so if anyone has a number which would get me through to an actual person I would be grateful. Thanks in advance Having worked for British AIrways for 23 years in Flight Connections I can give you a little advice. Perhaps you have realised already that whoever told you that you can't label your bags thru is talking absolute rubbish !! Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 isn't far however you have security to consider and the queues are generally awful. Your bags will make the flight but you may not ! Make sure you check in online for your BA flight the night before because you can't guarantee that Emirates will do it ! We have people monitoring all inbound passengers from other carriers and will offload generally about -45 before the flight. That said given that it is the summer period flights often have to hold above LHR to land and I think 90 mins is really cutting it fine. I would say a very minimum of 2 hours or more is safe especially if you have young children, buggies etc You may just want to double check that the BA/AA codeshare flight you are on is definately BA because when I was at BA we didn't codeshare with AA on transatlantic routes so best to check with BA, and they do still fly out of Terminal 3 so ask all the questions to BA or check on their website Hope this helps LL

We were in Ranches in Palmera for 18 months and we had the type A and tripped over each other . . . I have 3 boys aged 10 8 and 2 also 2 dogs 1 cat and now an extra 10 weeks old kitten !! I love the space and the fact that the kids can play around without me always have to use ear plugs !! We have been here 2 weeks and so far so good my school runs are a bit long but I'm coping ok . .. .September might be fun with 3 kids at 3 different schools ! perhaps we should meet up for a pooch walk

I would be amazed if a pool went in, delighted if it did happen. But am pretty certain that it was asked at the residents meeting pre christmas and the reponse was that there were no plans for a community pool. That would be a shame .. . . this guy I spoke to seemed absolutely definate but of course this is Dubai and I have been here long enough to know that things very rarely happen when they say they will !!!

Hey LL, Can't use the curtains but just wanted to say congrats for sorting out a new villa! I read your threads before about needing someone to take over so you can move, happy to hear you managed to sort it out :) Where did you settle on moving to in the end? Back to the lakes? We are in the Springs but have moved from the lakes and our lease is up very soon so we're on the lookout for a new place, not sure whether to go back to the lakes or not yet, we loved it there but the places we've looked at so far have been quite pricey and run down. Thanks for that ., . . we are moving to the villa and I can't wait . . . We moving into a Cordoba in Phase 1 and I am so excited . . . got a fantastic rental price and house owned by friends so I am grinning like a Cheshire cat !! We move on Wednesday I would of loved to have moved back to the Lakes but sadly the rents are still too high there and we need 4 beds so realistically the Villa is much better for us

Hi ladies, I have done a search but nothing came up.... I need to get 2 things fixed. 1. Nintendo DS lite. Bought here but over 2 years ago & not sure where as it was a present. Think it has a bent pin where you insert the games so doesn't recognise when game is in it. 2. Trampoline. Originally bought from Intersports 3 years ago and need to get replacement base (area kids bounce on) and also mat that goes around the side & covers the springs. Can't help with the trampoline but re the nintendo you can go to a shop is Satwa . . . Forgot the name but it is something like RS . . . If you go down the Al Wasl road to the Iranian Hospital and turn right just after it ( signed for Satwa ) their shop is just down on the right hand side Good luck Has anyone used anyone in Dubai to get these things fixed? Thanks in advance.

Ladies, a fairly general question however my mobile phone about to c*rap itself (It won't even TEXT anymore!) and I am thinking of getting a new one. All of these i phones, blackberries, blueberries etc confuse the bejezus out of me so would like some opinions on what phone I should get. I'm not completely un ''tech savvy" so it can have some fancy features i.e camera, holds mp3, etc, however ideally something that doesn't freeze up and give me trouble (like my existing touch screen Nokia music thingo). Something that isn't too hard to use but nothing too basic either. Tell me, what is the coolest phone out there at the moment? Are iphones that great? what does it do that other phones dont and how much am I looking at to buy it outright? I know this stuff is easy to google but I want real live opinions not tech geek talk. Thanks ;) What about the Nokia C7 ? See my thread re this phone ? Its great if you like Nokia phones

..because if I have to speak to one more person I am going to lose my mind. It was supposed to take off at 3pm...I received the status txt to say it had taken off at 3.08pm....then my sister calls from the UK to say that the flight was delayed. It actually took off at 7.45. Now, my mother is on that flight, and I just want to know if they took off and came back....have they been sitting on the plane all this time waiting..??? I have called the airport, flight info...emirates themselves, and all I keep being told is that the flight took off at 7.45 over and over again. If anyone knows anything...please, might put my mind at rest...thanks x I will try and find out for you as my husband works for EK and he is on a night shift now Will post when I have any news

in most cases a Townhouse is attached to another house whereas a Villa is detached/standalone. Obviously on the compound villas I guess they are attached but in other areas such as Emitates Living etc a townhouse is attached to another one Hope I haven't confused you more
