Our hearts are broken! i couldn't sleep last night. all our families and friends in Amman are so angry and sad that they can't talk. Its just heart breaking and its just pure injustice and the worst feeling is that we can't do anything but pray for him and his family :(

Which schools are you ladies talking about? Our school (chueifat) sends out notices each year stating its not allowed to get the teachers/assistants any gifts. So I never came across this situation before/ when my kids were in a nursery, a simple chocolate pack from Patchi/Godiva or a small package dates from Bateel was a suitable gift for teachers for Christmas or Eid! but a 250 - 350 dirhams from a 20-25 kids class is a huge amount! Multiply that by God knows how many sections!! 30-40K dirhams???? Shocking...

Why would you pay a full price for a property yet have some one else own it with you, even if she lost her job? You should get a good lawyer to prove that you have been paying all the mortgages and also prove that she had to pay her part as well, but she didn't!

Honey has so many health benefits but I somehow had something against it. Every time I used to have even a pinch, I used to get upset stomach. But ever since I started using Sidr (Yemeni), purchased by Balqees Honey, I'm sorted. It has a taste of rich, lavish and buttery sweet... This honey comes from the nectar of the Sidr tree which is an ancient tree in Yemen primarily from the Hadramout Region in a valley called Do'an. The Sidr Tree is famous for its phenomenal medicinal value. This type of honey is considered the best in the world and the most expensive due to its marvelous taste, aromatic smell and health promoting benefits. Balqees Honey kiosks are available in almost all leading malls eg Mercato, Dubai Festival City Centre etc. another vote for balqees honey!

No disrespect but do the Muezzin have to audition for this job? I do not know how to word this without offending but sometimes the call is not as pleasing to the ear as others. As SD said, some calls are beautiful and it is nice to appreciate the voice of a good Muezzin/Imam. No auditions, but the imam has to approve him i guess before anyone can step up and call for prayers The imam in the mosque next to our house chooses and encourages men to call for prayers, the ones he sees in the mosque frequently of course and trusts he won't ruin it. That's why you will find men with really nice voices and others are not

BTW Lamaaz, I see you wrote you are throwing expressed milk away! Don't, it is so precious and our bodies work hard for it! You can freeze it perfectly well! There are special freezer bags for breast milk, I have used them for all 3 of my children. (Breast is best, but I did express in the office and I could not always give all the expressed milk within the first 24 hours, so then I froze it and used it later on.) And to answer your question: I did alternate between breastfeeding when I was at home and expressed milk from a bottle when I was not there. Is someone else trying to give your girl the bottle? If you are doing it yourself, it is much harder to make her accept it! I needed to get out of the house, so she knew I was not there and there was no way for her to get breastfed. They are tiny and very clever :-) The reason to why i throw the milk is because i heat it in a warm water bath and when she refuses to take it, my understanding is that it can't be re heated again ? am i wrong? can i still freeze it after i heat the milk? edited by lamaaz on 08/05/2014

My son was 2 1/2 and I couldn't get him to stop his love of b milk. He absolutely refused to take the bottle (eve when I expressed) and the Health Worker just said "Obviously he knows what's good for him" !! In the end, I put the stuff you put on your nails to stop biting them, on my XXXX and told him that the milk had "gone bad". He tried and realised that it tasted awful and took to the bottle without further issues! HTH was he 2.5 months or years?

I feel your pain. After BF my first 2 babies and returning to work - without any issue... along came my 3rd. She downright refused any bottle and looked at me as if to say - wtf is that! I spoke to everyone I knew to get some advice - and my sense of panic just seemed to make it worse. I bought every single bottle and teat I could get my hands on. I was feeding her expressed milk- in the bottles not formula - so there really should have been no problem .... Anyway, the only thing that worked - and it was harsh - was that we starved her for one feed - which meant she didn't have anything for about 8 hours. We offered the bottle and she refused so we didn't give her anything until the next scheduled feed. She cried herself to sleep - and when she woke up for her next feed she took the bottle and that was that. Awful awful awful solution, but in hindsight ... was the only way. She is now 4 and there are no obvious mental disorders as a result of the one dropped feed. I was able to return to work, and continued expressing and feeding her breast milk up to about 9 months. Good luck - you may need to get a friend to help you or your husband to take over the bottle feeds to get her used to it before you go back to work. looks like i am headed there too :( after she accepted her first bottle, did you breast feed her or u only used the bottle with expressed milk? I want to be able to do both, or am i asking for too much and will confuse her this way?

I had the same problem u just have to keep on trying.. She used to push it with her tongue Have u used different bottles/nipples? And try several formulas Usually at such a young age it's easier to introduce a bottle than an older age so try a different nipple or mayb the flow is too fast. Avent is wider than tommee t. TT is very good but only availablein a few places, mamas and papas and waitrose. i have the Avent bottles, and NUK and mother care Innosense brand, NOTHING worked! i will look for the tommee t and trythem today. thanks for the help. What happened with your baby? did she accept the bottle? Yes she did but it took some time but it really works if someone else gives her the bottle. Give it a try. When she accepts it shell love it cos the flow is faster than the breast Dnt stress abt it just keep on trying Thanks a lot :) you have given me hope :) I will keep on trying and will buy this brand today and try

I need your advise ladies. My baby is 3 months old and till now, i have been breast feeding her exclusively. I am returning back to work and she is NOT accepting the bottle!! she cries and cries, and can easily stay hungry for 5 hours until i cave in and feed her directly from my breast I pump and try every day many times which is all thrown away later, and feel sorry for her! I have no idea what to do and i am due back next week :( I tired the formula once, and the same thing happened. she doesn't want the bottle at all :( I am clueless! Did not imagine she could be this stubborn at this little age :(

I found out recently that most of the chicken here is frozen then defrosted on the shelf, we buy it and then stick it in the freezer! Meat once defrosted should NOT be frozen again, but there is NO warning on any of the packaging - be it the expensive UK stuff or the oman chicken Really shocked we aren't sick more often with food poisoning! I buy fresh chicken breasts. are those also defrosted?

couple of points, which yogurt do you use? best i have tried for making the laban/yogurt sauce is AlAin as it holds well while heating and has a nice tangy flavor I cook it differently, for 1 KG, I use 1 table spoon of flour (i guess its the same concept of corn flour) and 1 tea spoon of olive oil (no water). Mix it on the mixer for exactly 1 minute. then pour it in a sauce pan. While it starts to heat, you need to make sure that you have a good whisk and don't let it over the stove without steering. you have to keep steering all the way until it boils. let it boil for a minute and turn off the fire Now, some odd times, i do get the same result as you got. So what i learnt over the years, is to let the yogurt sauce cool down a bit after its done boiling (without adding anything to it). IF it splits, pour it again in the mixer and mix it for a minute. it will be as good as new and silky as well. then add what ever you want to add to it, either shish barak, kebbeh (fry it first to avoid the kebbeh crack open while in the sauce), already cooked lamb meat, already cooked meat balls... another tip for the shish barak. If you feel that after adding it to the sauce, it became soggy, then before adding them, you can put them on the oven broiler for less than a minute. keep and eye on them so they won't be burnt. just give them a nice tan, and it will cook the dough a bit so it won't be soggy once in the sauce. good luck

Tattoo-ing is forbidden in Islam. But if you are not a Muslim and it's allowed in your religion/culture, and you would like to get an Arabic text, then make sure it has no religious or holy meanings/words. Like Allah, Profit's name or any word of that sort. So make sure you run that text by some one who read and understands Arabic. So to answer your question, no, its not offensives, as long as there is no mention what so ever to anything holy in Islam

Its not about the cashier speaking basic Arabic words, as much as its about customer service! I mean, If i am at the cashier, and I didn't understand the language spoken by a customer, the least i would do is call some one who can help and speak the customer's language! That's basic customer service. Why make the customer feel embarrassed over finding out how much the bottle cost? AND, M&S is living off the Gulf nation! especially Saudis! so M&S need to accommodate more to their audience by hiring staff who can at least speak some Arabic words, or train them to do so! In Paris, in the Chanel store, they have Chinese sales assistance more than french LOL When i asked why, she looked at me in a strange look and said, look around you, and you can know why! How about this ? M and S hire locals ? Ummmmmm.................... There are many locals working at M&S....what's your point exactly??

When I first bough my iphone, I activated the data package from Etisalat. It took then 2 days to activate it, during which, i used to get the same kind of msgs! (you have uesd 15 Aed, and on and on) I called 101 and explained to them the situation, and they never advised me to turn off my cellular data on the iphone setting. they said I might have been using the intrenet and opening browsers or whatsapp (which was not true). I ended up with a 280 Aed bill for basically doing nothing on the phone. I called 101 and they listened to that phone call which i made earlier, and they agreed to refund me the amount as free minutes. So it might be worth it of calling 101 and raise a complain.

Google Dubai comedy and check all the Facebook pages to many independent comedians or small event companies who plan these events weeks in advance..its always fun and there will always be good offers on food and drinks Also, If you register with Al serkal avenue, they keep sending you email about exhibitions and events, which is also free Bloomies does that too, cooking shows, decor and tabling settings events, kids reading books..also free If i think of something else, will share it here :)
