I shop in Debenhams all the time especially during the sales as the mark up here can be totally rediculous. I try on loads of items and the fitting rooms are never busy. The staff couldnt care less if I buy or not so are not pushy at all which suits me. I do not have an unlimited supply of cash for clothes or time for returning them so with this in mind I wouldn't buy something I didn't like. If I need a top to wear with a specific trousers I would bring that in and try them on together. I wouldn't buy without a tag on the item as then I can't prove that it is unworn. I do agree that it can be disconserting if you are the only person who canoot understand what is being said but that is the harsh reality of living here. I will admit though that it takes for ages at the till and they usually forget to take off a security tag so I have that whole criminal feeling when I try to leave. Its what i normally do when i have time, but for that specific day, i was in a rush and honestly didn't care about the tag being missing! I thought i can refund it the same way i bought it, especially that the cashier didn't tell me it will be a problem if i will refund/return an item with a missing tag. In the perfect scenario, yes, I should have brought the trousers with me and tried there. but we learn from our mistakes!

sorry but I just don't get the whole return thing... how hard is it to make sure you buy the right thing in the first place ? If you have the option to return an item, given its not been used/worn, why not use it to your advantage and try the clothes at your house? or if you buy them for your kids when they are at school?

worst customer service in Debenhams! I once bought a blouse without trying it in store, knowing the refund policy and agreeing to Alshaye refund card, but i had to buy it as i needed to try it on a trousers in my house. figured out if i needed to refund, will get the money back on that blue card I tried the blouse home and it didn't match. took the blouse next day to Debenhams cc, and the fun began! they refused to refund me the value, and their claim is that the blouse was worn. I told them i did try it but never wore it. the tag was off when i bough the blouse and they did a number scan when i paid the day before. so was not my fault the tag was not attached. I bought it that way! then another lady showed up, start sniffing the shirt, and said no its been worn! Then a third lady came and a fourth one, and they all started talking in their language, sniffing and laughing! I was furious and was very humiliated! they all ganged up on me and after talking to each other in their langue, agreeing that its been worn I never wore the blouse and i kept telling that i just tried it home, just like i would try it in the store! I spoke to the store manager, complained on the phone to al shaye customer service, wasted 1 hour of my life trying to refund the blouse , but got no where and I don't wear perfume as i am allergic and i take showers twice a day! eventually i left the blouse there and stormed out! I lost my money and my blouse! my blood pressure was up the roof because of the bad customer service and how humiliated i felt. wrote an email to Alshaye, and i got no reply.. I will NEVER buy again from Debenhams!

I've not noticed any disruption to my iPhone 5 service. I've been able to get on 4g and lte services without a problem. Only thing I've noticed is that I can't get on the VPN because of the damaged cable issue. is the LTE on? I seriously need to know if its a phone issue or Etisalat! I have to wait another 48 hours for them to find out if its etisalat issue If LTE is on on my iphone, i get no connection. I have to only connect on wireless!

I use them for their personal shopper service as I don't have a US issued credit card. So they use their account to buy the stuff i want and charge me a bit extra they add 10% fees on any purchase for the personal shopper, and their shipping charges are a bit higher than SnS. but they are reliable <em>edited by lamaaz on 02/04/2013</em>

hello ladies i hope you can help me with this as i feel totally lost.... i bought a coupon for some 20 driving classes from Groupon, and it states that i have 20 classes paied, plus classroom tuition and 20 driving classes INCLUDED! I went to the school and they asked me nearly 400 dhs more for classrooms. I know i had to pay additional 20 driving classes, and RTA TAXES ETC, BUT THE COUPON STATES THAT THE CLASSROMS ARE INCLUDED. i called groupon and they said they made a mistake in the printing.....hahaha......, in my country who makes mistakes pays....... so what do i d now? i've paid nearly 600 dhs and i'm very angry as i agree to pay all the extras that the coupon states, but not the 400 dhs for the classrooms! the classrooms are the theory by the way... any suggestion is very welcomed thank you V and in this country as well! so complain to Consumer Rights Commission and Groupon and get your money back

What do you guys read when you read my post?? No where in my reply did I say it was OK to torture and kill the Iguana. and I did say that the authorities should take actions against them. so please, go back and re read it if you have a problem with that! Secondly, yes, it was/is requested by the park to mention that an Iguana is living here, leave it at peace! When you go to the desert, many signs are there to say that camels are walking by, be aware! it certainly does not mean stone them. And please let's put the sarcasm on the side! Ants and flies are not like Iguanas. A call to DM would have been the most sensible action As for the heart attack, its a metaphor, it means i will be scared!

[b'>[i'>Mohammad, the Messenger of Allah S.A.W.S. said A woman got into ****-Fire because of a cat whom she had tied, and thus it could not eat, and she did not let it free so that it could devour the insects of the earth, until it died. (Sahih Muslim)[/i'>[/b'> This is what we teach our sons and daughters, and this is what we grew up learning. A life is a life, be it a cat, iguana, a child or a person and it should not be harmed. Such acts are found in every nation and country. Lets hope the authorities will do something to punish these kids. [i'>[u'>[b'>BUT[/b'>[/u'>[/i'>, I have been to Safa park over 100 times, and I have never found any where any poster informing people that a harmless iguana was in the park and it shouldn't be harmed. I know for a fact that if i came across it and with my kids around me, I would get a heart attack and then call Dubai municipality control to do something about it! I am not giving justification to the kids/ppl who killed the iguana, but the park should have informed its visitors so that they would know its there, and would be aware to avoid it if they saw it, and not of course to harm it. Let's face it, ppl here including my self, are not that familiar with such animals. The park should have informed visitors one way or the other about that animal. <em>edited by lamaaz on 24/03/2013</em>

I am very sorry to hear about what happened, I hope you will get over it and will eventually make you stronger. But for the time being, take a day or two to calm down, and after wards, I beg you to contact Al Ameen again. I know for sure that they will be able to help the next woman who will be attacked by this guy (and yes, there will be a next woman if you don't act) Fear is always hindering us from is supposed to be done or said. But imagine if he does that or more to a little girl! One of the options i wanted to suggest was to go directly to a police station and file a report, but i think after talking to your laywer, you won't go this far. But please try to contact Al Ameen again! Another request please, can you advise us on the location of that building? I would want to stay away and request my friends and family to stay away from it as will.

What do you actually forget? I am a working Mum with 2 active children and I also forget things all the time. Seriously, I am EXHAUSTED and I really think my absent mind comes from not enough sleep. My DH doesn't do half the things I do on top of his full time job. I am sure it's just that you have too much to juggle and some things slide. If you are really concerned, get a doctor's opinion :-) If i want to look some one up on my contact list, Its a 15 minute activity! If i see ppl in a meeting or something, I can spend good 10 minutes trying to remember them, and still can't (and these ppl know me by name, talk to me about things, so its not that I met them once or twice), Math problems are really what's irritating me the most! I was a math wiz, i could multiply and add in seconds! Now, I have to use the calculator I can't under any circumstance remember a phone number even if i try to memorize it and a HUGE chunk of my memory back in college (10 years back), is lost some how! my friends keep remembering all these incidents, and I am as if i was in a whole different universe back on these days!

Add to that the rent of these shops. Commercial rent is outrageous here! Most of the shop/brand owners are not as greedy as it may look. they just want to make some money as most of it is gone for Rent!

If any one is interested, there is an event in AUD on the 30th of Jan 2013, I guess it starts at 7. Its called "From Dubai, Here is Damascus", It will be a hip hop/comedy kind of event and the proceedings (Aed 100 per ticket) will be sent to the refugees in Jordan (za'atari camp) with the help of the UAE Red Crescent and Islamic Affairs. Also food, clothes, blankets are all welcomed. I think they will have points of collection there as well you can check their event page on fb. emails are: rawan.issa@mymail.aud.edu palestinian@clubs.aud.edu I have their numbers, but I am not sure if i can post them online here. Just let me know if you need more details.

I thought he was Pakistani didn't know he was local. Are they funny? Never been to a show. I don't know him in person, but he did say that "I am a local". I assumed local Emirati and he speaks local Arabic dialect when we chatted with him back stage ETA, yes, he is VERY funny :D and his wife too. We can relate to his and her jokes as exapts living in Dubai. Its like its tailor made for the ppl living here, which is nice :) <em>edited by lamaaz on 09/01/2013</em>

We are going to be moving out of our 3 bed villa in Jumeirah to be closer to my DH work in JAFZA. We did a lot of upgrades, including 2 new bathrooms (with walk in showers) one has a slipper bath and we contributed towards a new kitchen. It is compound with pool (private garden). We pay 140k but think Landlord wants to increase it to 160k with new tenant. Our contract expires end of March but will probably move before. I am wanting to sell our blinds, kitchen island, cooker, wooden flooring and perhaps some furniture as we are downsizing so if anyone is interested to view the villa please let me know. Hi, who is the landlord if someone would be intrested to rent the villa? or its been rented already? if not, please send me details to lamaaz at hot mail dot com thx and good luck

I have jus started paleo...my new years resolution! This is day 5, and I have lost 6 lb. obviously a lot of that will be fluid but it has given me a real boost, and I still have 25 days left of the stricter challenge to go. I don't find it too hard apart from breakfast as I not a huge fan of eggs in the morning, and haven't been able to find bacon that has not had sugar added. I do plan to keep at it long term, assuming I start to feel great by February, so like mentioned below it is a lifestyle change. I have also committed to power walking 5km a day on the treadmill as since moving here I have done no exercise at all and driven everywhere. I am just fed up of seeing my weight grow and grow and new it was time to sort it out. Good luck! Hi there, How did you start with the Paleo Diet? you bought the book or are you meeting with any dietitian?

A friend of mine has lost 4kg in about 8 days. She had a food allergy analysis done and found out that she shouldn't be eating things like celery, carrots no form of milk including soy and camels. There was quite an extensive list of things that she can't have for at least 3 months a lot of the stuff she thought was healthy eg tomatoes. She can drink coffee but not tea. Weird stuff but another friend of ours did the same thing a few years ago and went from a size 20-10 and has never put the weight back on. where did your friend do this test?

Take it from some one who had spent a fortune on fixing IPAD2 screens (had it fixed 3 times, 700, 650 and 600 Aed at minutes shops, and each time i say its THE last time and Its cheaper than buying a new one), GO TO SATWA and get it fixed at 150 Aed!!!! If its not at the MAC shop, then it won't be an original screen. So you might as well pay less than the 500+ Aed these shops ask for. And no matter how much they confirm and vow its an original screen from Mac, please don't believe them as a regular customer to Minutes, one of their staff confide to me saying that its Chinese, like the ones in satwa! and just to let you know, the last time i fixed it (last week), the screen looks authentic and working perfectly!

I have seen a beautiful 5 beds in Jum2 last week. While coming from abu dhabi, just before the zoo in Jum road, you will find a newly renovated one story villas (they have light orange bricks), its the compound EXACTLY next to them. Its owned by Sharaf Group, so it might be worth giving them a call. There is a watchman there who was very helpful. Price is in that range if I am not mistaken. Good Luck

i had a horrible experience at amala's - worst service ever - 45 mins to take our order, 1.5 hours for the food to arrive etc etc, massively disappointed. the arabian courtyard hotel opposite the dubai museum has a great indian restaurant, mumtaz mahal - super food and staff v lovely. http://www.mumtazmahalrestaurant.com/ Absolutely true about Amala. I think i have spent the longest 4 hour dinner in my life there. we were a party of 6. food came late and took for ever to prepare. the waiter was so rude, we felt we were begging for food from his own kitchen! and its not cheap 395 per person if i am not mistaken, no drinks!!! waste of time and money!! i highly recommend Nina at Royal Mirage! amazing food and service

Khan Murjan in wafi is really nice and serves shisha you might want to book ahead of time as it get crazy during Eid. the food is great and the atmosphere and the decor is also nice and somehow authentic to levant area but take a note that all shisha restaurants are kids free now. if you have kids or pregnant, you will be forced to sit in the non smoking area
