Thank You! If by 'selective' you mean only accepting those who are already academically ahead then no, they are not selective. Their definition of selective is somewhat different and is not restricted to academic ability. I think I didn't make myself clear, my children are not and never have been in either an International or UK school, as such ds1 (age 5) has not been introduced to phonics or simple reading, numbers above 10 - their advice was simply to start working on these at home, in the months prior to school starting so that the boys would not need extra help at school. Welcome to Dubai and Foremarke School!

I appreciate that Foremarke is very expensive and the more cynical of you think that the fees are ridiculous, I'm guessing you have been in Dubai for a while and have waitlisted your way to the school of your choice? We were told in March that we would move in April. I contacted 16 schools and was given no help in deciphering the FS1, K1, Year1 code, simply told that there was no availability although I was 'free' to pay for registration and wait it out! Eventually I found my way to the new schools opening in September and so we applied to all and organised assessments - out of all of them, Foremarke was the only one who actually listened to us and considered the fact that my children have been in the European school system but as UK nationals we would like the opportunity to move to an English curriculum. Instead of expecting all children to fit into a preconceived mould, like the other schools with their 'take a ticket, get in line' attitude, Foremarke had a qualified teacher do the assessments and offered places based on the potential of our boys. In addition, they gave us some constructive advice on how to bring the boys up to speed so that they are not too far behind their peers - an email I passed on to my Aunt who is a primary school principal, she gave the content and wording her approval! Perhaps the school is in the first throes of idealism but I prefer that to the 'sorry, computer says nooo' attitude of many other Dubai schools.

Thank you! We were looking at JLT so I'd have jumped at your offer for GreenLakes tower, thank you! It was a bit of a shock that we won't move into an apartment/villa of our choice after a few months but on the upside, everything will be paid directly by the company so that will be less to worry about. I'm edging towards the Marriott as they have 3 bedroom suites than can take 7, that would allow family to visit and organising a beach membership for the cooler months. What do you think?
